  1. There needs to be a public option. However what I've heard of what is being proposed needs to be re-worked or else it won't work at all. There are about 5-6 different versions of a health care plan circling around Congress right now, so people should save their vitriol and soap boxes for when there is a definitive version being sent to Obama's desk. Right now NO ONE knows what will be in it and what won't. I've heard one group of people say the public option has been dropped, I've heard that it hasn't. BTW, "death panels" are not some group of people who will decide when you die or how you die nor are they going to kill Grandma and Grandpa. What it is called is "end-of-life counseling" and what it is meant to do is get older people talking about living wills, DNR orders and other things they need to make clear to their families when the time comes and decisions need to be made. These things are actually quite important and everyone should have a living will. There is nothing wrong with making sure that you know what your family wants done in the event that they are on life support or in a coma or something horrible happens and you need to talk to the doctors about what to do next. There is nothing wrong with end-of-life counseling and fuck Sarah Palin up the ass with a rusty knife blade for convincing stupid, gullible idiots that it's some room full of rogue ninjas killing the elderly and disabled.
  2. Evster, I understand what you're going through. I'm going through it now, my sister is going through it now and my dad went through it for the longest time. Thank God this dream job of his appeared here in North Carolina or else we would have been in severe trouble. It always amuses me when people assume that if you're unemployed it's because you're lazy or shiftless or don't care to work. I have a college degree, I should be able to find work - but nothing is hiring. Even the place I was working last year doesn't have any hours for me and I haven't worked since February. So keep ranting, Evster.....I feel it too.
  3. Quick question - is there an article you've read recently that breaks the numbers down like that? Because that's a little too clean. I'm curious as to how you know it's exactly 90% that are insured and 10% that are illegals or don't want insurance. Because to be frank, the idea of that many people voluntarily choosing to not be insured doesn't sound right to me, and I'd like to just verify that independently.
  4. I don't know if they have this in England, but if they do get some Cepacol or Chloraceptic. The first one are lozenges the second one is a spray. It helps deal with sore throat pain by basically numbing your throat.
  5. Yeah, it was awful. At least he paid for my dinner, that's the one good thing I can say about him. If the date is going to be a total wash and won't lead to a second, if I'm not out money at the end of the night, I consider it a win for me.
  6. Everything does look great layout-wise, I'm just not a fan of serif fonts, is all. However I understand that for most people here, they're easier to read so majority rules.
  7. Hmmm, in the event you're seriously asking; for starters, he was an idiot. He had no idea about current events, politics, nothing like that. On a date, I want to talk about more than sports and the weather and what I think of the food. Secondly, he told me he hated reading. Well, I'm a voracious reader, I go through about 3-4 books a month. Sometimes more if the books are a little smaller and I read them faster. Someone who hates reading probably doesn't think too highly of education and education is something I value highly, both in myself and other people. Lastly, he was a fucking creep. Staring down the front of my shirt like a wolf salivating over a kill isn't going to win you points and it isn't going to get you in my pants. Have a little class, especially on a first date.
  8. Do you think it could be related to your tonsils? That is if you still have them, I don't know if you ever had them removed when you were younger. My sister used to get sore throats a lot as a kid and finally my mom took her to the hospital and they gave her antibiotics for tonsilitis as that was what it turned out to be. I hope it's nothing serious.
  9. I use both IE 8 and Firefox and haven't experienced any problems, especially Firefox suddenly allowing new downloads. Perhaps the problem isn't with the browser but with your security settings. Do you have a firewall/anti-virus software? I'm anal about internet security so I make damn sure nothing gets downloaded onto my computer unless I specifically authorize it. What features in IE 8 don't you like?
  10. I may be going on a cruise to Cozumel and the Cayman Islands with my sister over Spring Break. Of course that means I'd need to get a passport, only I have no clue where my birth certificate is. Or if I really want to go, for that matter. I mean, spending Spring Break with my sister and her drunk friends doesn't sound very appealing to me. :-\
  11. That's awesome, Virginia! My parents will be married 38 years this coming January.
  12. That ain't Jimmy Page. Just like I can spot David Gilmour's distinct tone and sound, you can spot Page's......and this isn't it. It's a nice song, but off the mark.
  13. Well yeah I'll adapt - I love this place! It's just the font is weird for my eyes right now. I'll get used to it eventually and then it'll be like it was always that way.
  14. Oooh, do I know that. A couple weeks ago I went out on a date with this guy my friend insisted I just HAD to meet, and aside from the fact he was dull as dishwater, had no college education and hated to read, he kept staring down the front of my shirt as though there was a plasma screen TV in there. When I told him to knock it off, he said [and I quote] "Tits are my thing, babe". So yeah, I'm never seeing him again.
  15. Yup, the reputation has departed and the font is different - not sure if I like this font, though. I prefer fonts like Tahoma and Verdana myself, but you gotta roll with the punches!
  16. Well that right there is part of the problem. You should have it updated to IE 8. Edit: I just saw your post in the other thread about why you haven't updated yet.
  17. This story about my high school --> http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-notre-dame-city-zone-14-aug14,0,132398.story It's depressing. My 10-year reunion is next year and I won't be able to have it in the place I actually went to school. Their total enrollment this year was 218 girls - I had 120 in my graduating class 9 years ago. I think we were close to 1,000 students that year. Now the whole school will be on one floor of an elementary school. Tragic.
  18. It's gorgeous. I was on the coast earlier this summer. I was not prepared for how salty the water was though, but as I later read, the Atlantic is the saltiest of the world's oceans. Just keep it out of your eyes. Yowza!
  19. Three Times A Lady - Commodores
  20. I'm replying to this post in the full editor, not the fast reply at the bottom of each page and it looks exactly the same as it did with the old software. All the formatting buttons [bold, italic, underline, adding a picture, adding a link, adding smilies] are horizontal across the top of the reply box (just like before). When I look at the threads posted in the Ramble On forum, I see more than 4 topics. So I don't know why there's only 4 coming up for you, but it's not the software I don't think. I also don't see what button you pushed to reduce your text to only 2 lines. Maybe you can a screenshot or something? That way if it's something on your end, we can help fix it so that you have the same user experience everyone else does.
  21. Medhb, I'm not seeing the problems you're talking about. Maybe something is messed up on your end?
  22. This weather. It's hot, humid, sticky and I hate it. I wish winter was starting tomorrow.
  23. I really, really like it. Very stylish, fast to load......interesting new doo-dads to play with. Nice job, Sam!!
  24. We all miss Magic Sam. He was cool. And as much as I pick on Bostonians, it's a very historical city and since I'm a nerd like that, I would love to take a tour. Just keep me away from Fenway.
