  1. Better late than never....Happy Belated Birtday Strider......hope it was a good one.
  2. In the words of the hubby...."you're a lucky B......" That is one thing on his bucket list...to see the Sox at Fenway.
  3. Happy 4th of July to all the forum family and to all the freedom loving people around the world. There are still countries who don't have that basic right and today is a day to remember that it does have it's costs. It may not be the perfect solution but it is better than some of the alternatives in other areas of our planet. I plan on a little cleaning, lot's of relaxing after and having a hot dog, potato salad and a beer. My current choice is Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat.
  4. Safe journey to you....have a good time and we all expect a detailed report when you get back
  5. Thanks S..... They are fraternal so mom plans to have them coordinated but not matchy matchy. They are home and settling into new family patterns.
  6. Thanks all for the warm wishes......Mom is doing well..much better than I did when I had my c-section deliverys. She and the twins will probably go home on Wed.
  7. My twin grandsons decided to come into the world 1 week ahead of schedule. Just before midnight. Baby No. 1 weighted in at 7 lb 2 oz and Baby No 2 at 6 lb 12 oz. Mom and Dad named them Kellen and Carter.
  8. I really enjoyed seeing Star Trek Into Darkness. Lots of action, suspense, a tearful moment, a little romance and just fun to watch.
  9. It's here......Star Trek Into Darkness....I'll be going on Sunday to see it....my daughter already saw it on a sneak preview show and said it is awesome.
  10. Thanks Strider...it is shaping up to be a very nice day. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there....
  11. Finding a long lost cousin on facebook who I haven't seen for over 40 years.
  12. Just saw a commercial for Star Trek Into Darkness. Less than a month to go.
  13. Today I no longer live in a hoarders paradise as all my daughters stuff is finally moved out to her own place. I'm tired and sore.
  14. Top 'o the mornin' to ya. Todays St. Pattys faire is corn beef and cabbage, rye bread, tatos and carrots. Washed down with a whiskey drink. Happy day to all.
  15. Couldn't get an appointment for a massage, but will be getting a facial instead today.
  16. Going to make Swedish Meatballs this afternoon. Since the daughter is a vegetarian I had to devise a meatless meatball for her. Came up with this mix: finely minced onion, mushroom and garlic sauted. Added little thyme, salt, pepper, faux bacon bits, and mashed garbonzo beans. Add a little bread crumbs, egg to bind and olive oil.
  17. Joe Bonamassa. Acoustic show in Vienna last year. It's on PBS which means there will be a begathon to endure too, but usually tickets to upcoming shows are included for your donation.
  18. Looks like the rental company will give her a discount for the rental in a couple of weeks. No recourse against the realty company that screwed her up. She had not signed any lease agreement yet. I feel a bit clostophobic and my living and dining room looks like it would make a good episode for Hoarders.
  19. Today ended up being a waste and a cluster fuck of a day. We were suppose to help our daughter move out to an apartment. Had the apt picked out and was told it would be ready this weekend. She confirmed it last night. Had one small thing to fix but she could move in today. Gave notice to the storage facility of leaving, rented a truck and her dad helped her empty it last night and turned in her keys. Was finishing packing in her things at the house and was just about done when they called and informed her it wasn't ready. WTF!!! She was livid. Spent two hours on hold to see if they could present any options. Nope. Two weeks before it will be ready. Thank goodness we wern't already down there (about 70 miles away). Anyway, my front room is now a storage facility and she's returning the truck. Hopefully they will cut her a break on the fee, since she had it less than 24 hours and is returning it back to the same location.
  20. Bananas Foster over vanilla ice cream. MMmmmmmm.......
  21. My daughter brought home a new Star Trek product. A special blend of Tea, Earl Grey, Hot. Very yummy. Especially in the Star Trek mug.
  22. Been watching a lot of M*A*S*H lately. Nothing else to watch.
  23. I have my mom's cast iron skillet which I very rarely use cuz it's so big and heavy. After she cleaned it, she would heat it up on the stovetop and then wipe it down with an oiled paper towel. It's what I do now to keep it seasoned and from rusting. Hmmm..... all this cast iron reading has me wanting to use it. I think I'll make my chicken fried steak tonight in it. I learned how to make a decent CFS from my step mom. She would pound the heck out of a round steak, but I cheat and used a store bought cubed steak. Soak it in some milk and coat generously in seasoned flour. Fry it in bacon grease until brown and crispy. Use any left over milk and flour to make country gravy in the pan drippings. Very yummy.....don't make it too often as it's not a meal to watch your weight with, but it is some good comfort food on a cold night.
