I have a dayton ohio recording thats deep deep in storage somewhere ! From the front row center stage mostly... the guy recording it (Jim from cincy) was actually a good friend of my college buddy greag who i provided a good quality tape to give to his friend jim that i hadnt met yet! who was actually reording it for us, that i totally annoyed all nite goin crazy with my old high school pal Pat. we couldnt believe we were that close to Jimmy ! im all over the bootleg makin a fool of myself! I remember saying such dum things as “wow he looks human” SMH , sorry to everyone & to big jim!

Im bout to say SOMTHING CRAZY: ive always felt the riff in Layla was a Page riff that clapton ran off to america with ! SOUNDS LIKE a pagey riff ALL THE WAY !!& NOTHING like what clapton would come up with!!!! AND IM AWARE Duane Allman gets the official credit for the riff, however i need to ask if it sounds like a riff Duane would create ? im not that familiar with his composing ,ANYONE? Im sure eric & Duane knew they had somthing huge there & jimmy prob had it on a tape of ideas & forgot about it. & once one puts an idea down in a safe place like tape ,ones mind can be free to forget about it knowing he can come back to saved ideas later & was lifted or jimmy was tinkering , who knows & look at the timeline ! It fits , eric “could have” just stowed it away after he heard jimmy tinkering a few yrs back when they were working together , Eric has always seemed to me more than a lil funny when it came to jimmy. Yea , freezing all nite , standin out there-a blanket over ya heads often soaked ,sharing umbrellas , shivering , did it in the early 80’s . First time possibly was for the FIRM i believe. was crazey , cause suddenly everyone stood up , eventually couple doors popped open.Found myself & a buddy RUNNING AS fast as we could in race inside a mall? To stand in another line with 50 peope ALREADY in line 😳! best I could get was nosebleed seats ! I remember total of 7 of us at the concert & think it was the first Zep song in the set The OCEAN , i barely 16? looked around during the LA LA LALALA part & noticed several older guys & girls were huggin & cryin.... hearing i think our 1st LIVE performance of a Zep tune since or EVER since Bonzo’s & Zeppelins death/demise! the lighters were out ,my eyes 👀 welled up too my buddy caught my eye & he looked away ,most everyone was hugging , older hippi guy infront of me turned around crying & hugged me too! We were amongst several others who UNDERSTOOD the gravity of the moment ! Thank you Jimmy Page waaay down there on stage for comming to town & moving us so deeply......😢! Zep ment a lot everyone !
