  1. There was also a Bob Clearmountain mix of "Before They Make Me Run" that was issued on a promo 45 around the fall of '78, right around the time they issued Keith's "Run Rudolph Run" 45.
  2. I think ABKCO has done a better job of issuing the Stones than the Stones themselves have. As to how limited of control anyone has over the London/ABKCO recordings, it's not as limited as the Stones own inept greed. Just compare the ABKCO singles sets with the Rolling Stones-The Singles: 1971-2006. ABKCO at least tried successfully to get most the original mixes that were used on the singles while the Stones went with the stereo album versions.
  3. He's still painted into that corner to this day!
  4. No, I hated the Exile Deluxe from the get go. I've only been able to bring myself to listen to it about 4 times.
  5. The part of the article that goes: "The Some Girls and Exile reissues might only be the beginning: Was wants to tackle Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed or Sticky Fingers soon. "There's so much material," he says. "If they never went in the studio again, you could have a new Stones album every year for the next 50 years, and it would all be good." is a joke. Considering the Exile On Main Street Deluxe fiasco the key to the success of such projects would depend on the Stones not going into the studio to record new vocals.
  6. I watched the first 2 minutes of the clip.....the camera stays focused on Mick. Shee-it!
  7. That song sounds more like something they did write today. It has that rhythm that indicates Mick has been listening to crap. That's what I was afraid of. Like the USA's credit rating, the Stones have been down graded.
  8. That's the third clip I've seen from the '78 tour and they all seem to be overly focused on Jagger as far as close ups go. "Sad, Sad, Sad"
  9. For my money the Get Yer Ya, Ya's Out version of "Sympathy" beats the original. I'll say the same for Street Fighting Man. Mick Taylor's part on both was superb. One of the things I judge remastered versions of Ya' Ya's on is Taylor's guitar on "Street Fighting Man" and unfortunately no CD has done justice to it when compared to the original LP. I'd say my all time favorite guitar solo is the one on the Ya' Ya's version of "Sympathy". The guitars on that version make it more a guitar song as oppose to a Mick Jagger antics song.
  10. Much of their early work with Brian Jones was doing great covers of old blues songs, but as Andrew Oldham said; "How many great obscure songs are you gonna find?" I think Let It Bleed showed as much maturity as any of their previous work.
  11. For my taste, the Stones could come out and just stand there and they'd still be more entertaining than James Brown, who like Otis Redding, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix, seemed to do something that got an audience reaction and then did it over and over and over...... The art to good showing off is not to make it look like you're showing off.
  12. Unfortunately the sound on that clip sounds more like the '81 tour than what I'm familiar with how the '78 tour sounded. Odds are the Stones will screw up this release one way or another. They dropped the ball on their Exile On Main St. Deluxe set, DVD release of Ladies And Gentlemen, and Singles (1971-2006) CD set. Why would the Greedy Twins, or excuse me, the Glimmer Twins handle this release any other way? The good news is SOFA Entertainment is releasing the 6 complete Ed Sullivan shows that featured the Stones. http://www.amazon.com/Sullivan-Shows-Starring-Rolling-Stones/dp/B005LJTU7E/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1316188825&sr=8-12
  13. Are moderators one of your fears? The grain of truth.
  14. Anytime you bring "God" into an argument, the people having the discussion won't go to hell but the conversation will.
  15. The terrorists have lost to themselves from the get go. There's that old saying, "the best revenge is a life well lived" which is a big part of their problem with us. They are stuck in a depraved world of their own devise.
  16. I won't even take offense of the term feminization as we do tend to fight like women when we go to war, which only prolongs it.
  17. Had he been captured and not been killed, can you imagine the endless hoopla that would have ensued? We dodged a bullet there!
  18. You can't prove a negative.....and that includes your statement: "no-one seems to give a sh*t"
  19. The news that dreaded terrorist Osama bin Laden is dead and was buried at sea has fueled conspiracy theories. They should have cremated him and let Keith Richards snort the ashes.
  20. Led Zeppelin has had a history of giving themselves song writing credit for old songs that they did not write. I'd like to hear the unspeculated version from each member of the band. If we could put them each in a separate room with no advance warning of what it's about and then ask them and compare answers.
  21. I prefer Paul Revere & the Raiders version of "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone". The Raiders were the first to record the song and it appeared on their 1966 album Midnight Ride. The Shadows Of Knight did a version of "Tomorrow's Going to Be Another Day" on their Back Door Men album in 1966. The Shadows version is in the style and sounds like John Mayall's "Room To Move" right down to the harp.

  23. CD singles box set due for release, April 11. http://www.rollingstones.com/news One problem.....I expect 1/4 of it to be those horrible dance mixes. A potential problem......will they get it right? Such as those alternate takes of "Sway" and "All Down The Line" from the b-sides of "Wild Horses" (which was also a different mix than the LP version) and "Happy".
  24. It says “This video is no longer available due to copyright claim by ABKCO”. Looks like it got deconstructed!
