  1. I hope your copy of 'Celebration Day' arrives today or at least by tomorrow! On Friday, the 16th of November, I got a very cryptic email from Warner Music NZ, informing me that my package has been despatched to the local courier and that they were actually aiming to deliver the package by the end of the day. I did have some hope that I might get my package on Friday, but of no avail. I FINALLY got it on Monday at around 3 PM and I was rather relieved!

Getting back to the topic, tomorrow is the day I get to go grocery shopping! I can't wait!

Well Kiwi, I'm very disappointed. The post has just been and it isn't here. :( I expect it will come tomorrow, but for first-class delivery it's pretty poor. Amazon will send me another one if it doen't arrive tomorrow, but that's not the point. If I knew it was going to be this delayed I would have gone out yesterday and found a store that's actually selling it.

I don't enjoy grocery shopping much either. Good luck with that!

  2. ^^I agree Kiwi. We can't understand where we are or where we are heading without first understanding what came before us. I get the same appalling attitude from students all the time; those who spend lectures and seminars fiddling around on their smart phones/ipads updating their Facebook and so forth instead of paying attention. They just expect a degree to be handed to them and then they expect they can fall into a well paid job. They also expect me to write a glowing reference for them when frankly their attitude stinks. Sorry, rant over!

What I'm doing today? Patiently waiting for my postman to deliver my copy of 'Celebration Day'.

  3. I went to see the new Bond film today. I'm not into Bond, but went along with my partner to see it. It was a trip out the house. :) I thought the film was fantastic; I really enjoyed it much more than I was expecting to. I liked the fact that a lot of the film was set in the U.K. It made it more realistic for me.

  4. Well, I hope you do. :)

Actually, Magic and Kiwi, I am pretty sure I have e-mailed you that and other photos of me in the past. Magic, I did try the food and it was good. As my brother and sister-in-law and a few of my friends are vegan, I eat vegan when I am in their company as a courtesy. I love vegetables so it's not a big deal to me.

I was only teasing you Strider. I would never think you were that narrow minded when it comes to what food you'll eat, or anything for that matter. Yes, I have seen that photo of you before, and I remember you telling me about the vegan restaurant. It reminded me of 'The Blue Moon Cafe', a great vegan place I used to frequent when I lived in Sheffield.

  5. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

    MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

    WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :friends:

Sorry for shouting like this BUT I CAN'T HELP IT! :yay::blush:

Big HUGS to you my lovely friend! :friends:

THANK YOU Kiwi!! It's good to be back with the good folks of the forum! :):friends:

  6. ^^^

There's already several pictures of me here. There's only so much ugliness the forum can stand...I don't want to make people sick.

Oh Strider, you and I and many other members here know that's not true. Until we see the 'official' Strider, we'll have to be content the cute kid in your avatar who makes me smile every time I see his cheeky face. :)

  7. I'm back on the forum after a rather long hiatus so thought I would post a more recent photo of me. This is me at The Tate Gallery in London for the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition in September. Jimmy Page's stunning Edward Burne-Jones' tapestries were on display inside.

  8. I watched the Danish film, A Royal Affair, last night and really enjoyed it. Historical drama is one of my favourite genres anyway, and I particularly enjoyed the historical context of the Enlightenment ideas.

  9. ^^^ Kiwi it's wonderful to be back and see that you are here too!! :friends: I've always had a soft spot for snowmen (and snowladies!). I wish I was there with you in NZ. I'm roasting here in the UK! B)

  10. I watched this last night and I left literally speechless:

After reading reviews, I was expecting a Kubrickian masterpiece. Instead I was left watching the most smug and pretentious film I think I've ever seen. It's not that I didn't get the film's visual metaphors and latent symbolism. For me it just didn't work. Dinosaurs with a sympathetic conscience?! It was so bad I was laughing hysterically at one point.

  11. Now that it's morning again, and I've had some caffeine, I want to share probably my favorite scene from 'Iron Lady'..

I agree this was the best scene in the film and the one that I will always remember. Despite the flaws in the film, I think this scene sums up perfectly Thatcher's approach to politics and life in general; it's about thinking of new ideas even if those ideas are often unthinkable to others.

  12. Ah, ok. I thought you were saying that Emily Bronte was a better writer than her sister Charlotte. Charlotte was good, but Emily was better. IMO.

I'd take Charlotte over Emily any day. Charlotte was the most prolific of the Bronte sisters, and I have always preferred Jane Eyre to Wuthering Heights which I consider to be a rather bleak and depressing novel. Anne shouldn't be overlooked either. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is just as worthy of recognition.

  13. What is a 'twinkie'....

It's some kind of sponge based cake I think.

Back to Chocolate, which I do consider myself to be a connoisseur of. I've had Hershey's and it does have a strange tang to it. I don't know what it is, but I don't really like it. Cadbury's is pretty good, especially when you've not had any for a couple of weeks. ;) Wispa bar is my favourite, I'm so glad they brought that one back.

I do believe, however, that Cadbury's creme eggs should be strictly for Easter. Last year we had the Halloween eggs with the green goo inside, they just didn't taste the same. Now Cadbury's are bringing out a 'Games Goo' egg for the Olympics.

When it comes to real chocolate, though, the Belgians and Swiss can't be beaten. I had some of these for Christmas:

They are melt in your mouth passion! I have been rationing myself, but I ran out last night. Back on topic, that's what made me unhappy today.
