  1. Hang on, I could swear the rehearsals were done at Pages Sol Studios in Berkshire. I visited the studio back in the 80s, sure looked like what's on video although to be honest I haven't seen that footage in quite some time.
  2. I think my outfit is rather Jimmy ish !
  3. I was chatting with Tony Franklin on Facebook, and I learned some interesting things. 1. The song "Full Circle" which can be found on the Hammersmith 84 show, was never recorded in the studio. 2. On the track Dreaming, Tony played the rhythm guitar tracks, and he said Jimmy did that solo in one take.
  4. Yeah but he shoulda snuck in a tape recorder like Mike Millard did in the wheelchair Tosser!
  5. I've always thought the bass work on DW2 soundtrack was awesome and fat. Kinda wish Jimmynwouldve built on that, much more interesting than what came later.
  6. Unless I'm mistaken it was tried out during 75 Tour rehearsals. and I agree Plant prob could've changed it to make it work. Theres a recording of it in Pages vault somewhere.
  7. FWIW Custard Pie is no picnic vocally. Plant would've struggled mightily with it as well as an opener.
  8. If your friend has pics, that would be QUITE a find. Very very few pics from this show in circulation.
  9. Well looks like Jimmy has to put all this to bed before he can finish his solo album.
  10. It's a shame about 1975, so many tragedies. But really, Jimmys playing was really coming back into shape. The end of the USA tour had some outstanding very fluid performances from Jimmy in Seattle, Vancouver and LA. Then in the Earls Court shows, Jimmy again was very very good. Had they been able to do the a planned World Tour, I really think Jimmy would've recovered that fluidity from 73. but we all know what happened...........
  11. 6.23.77 cmon that version is off the chart incredible.
  12. Maybe Robert knew Jimmy had the Clap or something and didn't want to get it.
  13. It's a cosmic combination of a few vital elements Bonzo himself. Incredibly powerful drummer but blessed with impeccable timing and feel. Bonzo knew how to tune his drums correctly to give them maximum impact. Jimmys truly brilliant production and mic techniques that placed special emphasis on the drums in the mix, which hadn't ever been done before Zep and consequently changed the sound of rock music forever. and lastly, the material itself was beyond brilliant.
  14. Jimmy wanted to play Achilles but Robert wasn't into it
  15. I wonder how T Bone Burnett would be as a producer for Page and Plant. Albini just blew this project in a major way.
  16. Have you heard about the Japan shows they did ?? if you haven't, go to YouTube immediately and watch.
  17. Yeah I didn't get that at all either. He made a good point and I'm sure Jimmy had professional pride and wanted to impress. Of course he did. Japanese audiences are extremely attentive and discerning. Please contribute positively or don't bother.
  18. Steve, I just want to chime in and say Jimmy was a HUGE fan of Syd Barret. I'm trying to find it, but I recently read an old interview where Jimmy put Syd and Jimi Hendrix on same pedestal of ingenuity and genius.
  19. Hindsight is 20/20, but if CP had been released in 1990 it would've been HUGE.
  20. It's odd to hear Kalodner say that because to me, the album where Jimmy sounds uninspired and not putting any effort into the guitar tracks is Walking into Clarksdale! Half the the tracks sound like Jimmy did one take and was like, eh, good enough.
  21. There were actually two shows in London, maybe that bootleg was other show? I've always thought Jimmy's performance at RAH was very good, esp Tulsa Time where he blows Clapton and Beck off the stage. jimmy came off heroin before US Tour and he just seems too whacked out on the shows I've heard from SF and NY. Haven't heard the others, but Jimmy was def way into it and giving it his all no doubt.
  22. This is great, there is precious little out there with Peter Grant, which is a shame really. Thanks for sharing this!
