  1. Always cool to get new information on Led Zeppelin gigs. Especially from the murky 1968-69 period pre-Led Zeppelin I, when they were sort of flying under the radar and record keeping and media reports weren't always accurate...or even available.
  2. Here we go, folks! It's been another topsy-turvy season and my thanks to everyone who joined in the spirit of fun...and in memory of Brett, aka pottedplant, Superfan of the New Orleans Saints. Hope to see you next season. If someone wants to start a playoff thread, you're welcome to it...I'm exhausted. Okay, good news...NO Thursday or Saturday games to worry about! All 16 games are on Sunday. By now you know where you stand in the rankings...good luck to you all in this final week of the Pottedplant Memorial NFL Pool. Week 17 Schedule Sunday Dec. 28 Cleveland @ Baltimore Dallas @ Washington Indianapolis @ Tennessee Jacksonville @ Houston San Diego @ Kansas City New York Jets @ Miami Chicago @ Minnesota Buffalo @ New England Philadelphia @ New York Giants New Orleans @ Tampa Bay Carolina @ Atlanta Detroit @ Green Bay Oakland @ Denver Arizona @ San Francisco St. Louis @ Seattle Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh
  3. jb126 and I tied for the win this week. Nobody really had a great week...a lot of red slashes on everyone's sheets, topped by in_the_evening, who suffered thru a dismal 4-12 week. More importantly, jb126 picks up another game on Walter and two more games on Anjin-san. Walter, you should have stuck with your Miami pick. Her lead going into the final week is 5, 8, 10, and 12 games on the rest of the top 5 finishers. It will take a monumental collapse and some creative picking for someone to topple her. 4. Musical Monday at work... 1. "Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" OST 2. Judy Garland "Meet Me in Saint Louis" OST 3. "Damn Yankees" Original Broadway Cast Album 4. "Mame" Broadway Cast Album 5. Judy Garland "A Star is Born" OST
  5. I guess he wasn't feelin' alright, but did he die with a little help from his friends? Strangest singer I have ever seen. R.I.P. Joe Cocker.
  6. Double Breakfast today: Watermelon and honeydew melon slices. Bowl of Greek yoghurt and granola. Two cups of coffee, two tall glasses of orange juice, and two tall glasses of water.
  7. Amen to that and I second the motion.
  8. Yes, Seattle is the #1 seed if they win this week vs. the Rams. Which they will. So deal with it NFC. The Road to the Super Bowl will again go thru Seattle. You can bet your bottom dollar Dallas, Detroit, and Green Bay were praying for Arizona to win last night...they would rather go to Arizona and their third-string quarterback than have to go to the Hawk's Nest. Yes, I know Dallas beat Seattle in Seattle earlier this season. But that was eons ago...before Bobby Wagner and Kam Chancellor came back from injuries to restore the defense to Legion of Boom status. Before Marshawn Lynch started running like a man possessed. After Seattle's destruction of Arizona last night, you'd have to be blind to think the Seattle team Dallas beat bears any resemblance to the Seattle team that has been on a rampage the past month. Nope, Seattle is rounding into their Super Bowl form of last year and it is going to take a rock solid team to beat them. Which pretty much leaves out Atlanta, Carolina, Detroit, and Arizona. The way I see it, the top 3 teams in the NFC now are: 1. Seattle; 2. Dallas; 3. Green Bay. No other teams matter. I would have Green Bay higher but their loss to Buffalo disturbed me...much as Baltimore's loss to Houston cast doubt on their playoff readiness. No matter what happens tonight in the Denver-Cincinnati game, New England is the top seed and the team to beat in the AFC. Denver is #2 and Pittsburgh #3. It is impossible to take Indianapolis seriously after yesterday, and we all know the Bungles will do their usual Marvin Lewis-pratfall. Nope, the Patriots stand tall once again in the AFC and will have home-ice advantage. Seattle and New England...barring injury, those will be the two Super Bowl favourites going into the playoffs. As for the Raiders, I cannot do too much gloating over a team that only has 4 wins and will miss the playoffs for the 12th straight year. We also have blown our chance at the #1 pick. But if the Raiders aren't going to be in the playoffs, it feels good to knock other teams out too! Goodbye Buffalo! Sayonara Kyle Orton! Bwahahaha!
  9. Hahaha...CBS just showed the last time Buffalo was in the playoffs: the Music City Miracle game when Tennessee beat Buffalo on a miracle kickoff return. Bwahahaha!
  10. Lamb is good. Lamb chops. Lamb curry. Lamb vindaloo. Crown rack of lamb. I'm on my fifth bloody mary watching football...and munching on onion rings and vegetable crudites and roasted pepper hummus.
  11. Come on Raiders! Orton ain't got nuthin'! Beat that ball-less Bill into the turf!
  12. Smart play by Imdy actually...they fooled the Cowboys and had it for a first down. The Indy player just flat out dropped it. A game changer for the Colts turned into a game changer for Dallas.
  13. Colts epic fail on fake punt. Dallas gets ball in red zone. First play Dallas TD!!! 14-0 Cowboys early.
  14. Get these damn morning games over with already. All the afternoon games have started and Baltimore-Houston and Minnesota-Miami are still dragging on. Hate to say it but I'm paying more attention to Indy@Dallas than Buffalo@Oakland.
  15. The Rams are not moving back to L.A. No team is. It's a mirage the NFL uses to extort new stadiums from other cities."Build us a new stadium or we'll take your team away and move them to L.A." Rick, get ready for Silver and Black and Blue pain! Haha.
  16. May the spirit of pottedplant curse you. J/K. Any other changes you wish to make? No, it's too late to change your San Francisco pick.
  17. Poor Redrum. His 49ers keep collapsing in horrorshow fashion. San Francisco had a 20-point lead on San Diego and still blew it. Yet another home loss...move back to Candlestick fellas! Rick, come on down to the Black Hole. Today's special...Buffalo burgers. We're gonna grind your Bills up.
  18. Duck and rajas con queso tamales. Shot of tequila and beer.
  19. Bully for Walter, Jr.! Swimming is great fun...one of my favourite activities and I loved being on the swim team when I was a kid. Good luck to him in future meets. Already been to three Christmas parties myself in the past week...with one more to go. Bon Voyage, Holly! Sincerely, Fred.
  20. A reminder to those who haven't made all their picks to at least get your picks for Saturday's games in by morning. You can pick Sunday's games later if you are pressed for time, but get your Saturday game picks in before kickoff.
  21. Bloody English. I guess the BBC was too busy shoving Cliff Richard down your throat. Bloody Aussies. The people who gave us the didgeridoo. Finally, someone who knows a classic when he hears one. Sure, much of the holiday music played in offices and on the radio is treacly garbage. But Phil Spector's Christmas album "A Christmas Gift For You" is a stone solid classic, along with "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and the Christmas albums from Nat King Cole, Mel Torme, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald. It is a shame Darlene Love and the Ronettes and the Crystals and other artists that were in the Phil Spector stable aren't more known outside the U.S. But that is what is great about the documentary "20 Feet from Stardom". It shines a light on those like Darlene Love who have been out of the spotlight for too long. And Jay Thomas once again knocked the meatball off the Christmas tree! Most excellent, indeed, ebk...and fortunately, I also caught the last Craig Ferguson show with that great opening bit (with Sex Pistol Steve Jones on guitar). I wasn't even aware that it was Craig's last show...I knew he was leaving but I thought it would be next year around the same time as Dave. I'll miss the wacky Scot...and his robot Geoff. Jay Leno once again showed he is much better as a guest than a host of a talk show. It was reminiscent of his funny appearances on Dave in the 1980s when Dave was on NBC. Oh, and thank you, ebk, for posting Darlene's first performance on Letterman from 1986. Love how bare and stripped down it is compared to now...and Sid's and Will's hair. The end of an era.
  22. You mean our Sam? Well, hip-hip-hooray and glory be. Happy Birthday to the Webmaster Sam! For all you've done and continue to do, this birthday toast is for you. May you have a most excellent Celebration Day, eh!
  23. You're awesome dude! Now I have something to listen to while wrapping Christmas presents later tonight.
  24. This thread is dedicated to ebk, who shares my passion for Darlene Love. For those of us that have been watching for the last 30 years, Darlene Love's annual performance of "Christmas(Baby Please Come Home)" on David Letterman's Holiday show the Friday before Christmas is just as much a treasured Christmas ritual as "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "It's A Wonderful Life", and Glühwein. Tonight is the Friday before Christmas, which means it is time to set your tivo or dvr for the Late Show with Letterman on CBS tonight. Alas, David Letterman is retiring next May, which means this will be his last Holiday show and Darlene Love has intimated that she won't do this for anybody else's show. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/12/15/watch-darlene-love-sing-christmas-baby-please-come-home-on-letterman-over-the-years/ CBS has posted a nice tribute video to Darlene Love comprising all her past appearances on Dave's show: http://youtu.be/RfurmGiKZ5k I can guarantee you I will be crying buckets tonight.
