  1. Hope you-know-who is a good nurse!
  2. Baltimore is certainly doing their part to make the Kansas City Royals look like the 1976 Cincinnati Reds. The Royals look unstoppable...everything is going right for them and nothing is happening for the Orioles. I imagine it hurts to be an Os fan right now, for this surely isn't how most folks figured the ALCS would go. ebk and Rick and Black Dawg, I know you're suffering. Yet, I remember an ALCS ten years ago that also looked all but over for the Red Sox as they were down 0-3 to the Yankees and even fell way behind in Game 4 before mounting that miracle comeback. If it happened once, it can happen again. Why not the Orioles in 2014?
  3. At least we get a baseball double-header today. I'm with you ebk...I'm crossing my fingers for Zen Chen. I'd like an all-Orange World Series.
  4. WTF happened with my post? It didn't look like that on the pc last night when I posted the schedule but now on my phone the Chicago, Buffalo and Detroit games are in tiny print? I'll try to fix it at work today. Damn...it's too late, it won't let me edit my post. Sorry for the screwup. Hope it isn't too distracting.

  7. There are lots of songs Led Zeppelin recorded that at first glance don't seem "Led Zeppelin-like"...which of course made Led Zeppelin what they were in the first place: A band that didn't stay still or get bogged down in one genre or another. The very fact that you don't consider "Carouselambra" typical of Led Zeppelin is exactly why I do consider it a prime Led Zeppelin track. It goes against the grain of expectations, which is when Led Zeppelin was at their best. I wouldn't touch a thing on ITTOD...it is fine exactly as it is.
  8. Christina Applegate Monday Night Football (San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams) or Game 3 of the ALCS (Baltimore Orioles @ Kansas City Royals)?
  9. ^^^ Haha, we were drinking Rolling Rocks while watching the football games today! Always have had a soft spot for RRs after a friend in the Army from Mead, PA introduced me to them. Regarding good California Cabernets...here is a list of my tried-and-true favourites...my go-to wineries: Heitz Cellars Far Niente Frog's Leap Cakebread Cellars Robert Mondavi Estate For more cheaper yet still good Cabernets, there are: Cupcake Hess Select Clos du Bois
  10. There used to be a show on VH1 called "Storytellers" and I have always thought it was a shame Robert, Jimmy and John Paul never get together with some acoustic guitars and mandolins, etc., and talked about how some of their songs came about in exactly the relaxed, conversational manner Jimmy exhibits here in this BBC video. It would have been the perfect format for them. A great missed opportunity, in my book. I also used to wish Jones would bring along a recorder on tour, so he could play the "Stairway" intro properly on a recorder instead of using his moog or whatever keyboard he used. Although I did like the organ intros he used when I saw them in 1972...that was much more ethereal and effective than the way he did it in1973 and after.
  11. I have heard three different takes and each had a different harmonica part, so yes, there were multiple takes of the harmonica. Who knows what will show up on the Led Zep IV bonus disc?
  12. May 22, 1977 Tarrant County Center, Fort Worth, TX. Finally got the silvers to this show and after only a few listens, I can safely say I am enjoying this show much more than the Houston one the night before. That doesn't mean that the actual concert in Houston wasn't good...we all know that bootlegs, whether soundboards or audience tapes, don't give a true accurate picture of what the concert really sounded like in the venue. Especially 1977...every boot from 1977 makes Jonesey's bass sound worse than it actually was. Yes, the Alembecs were twangy but they weren't that twangy. I'm working up a thorough review for this show, but my first impressions are "Ten Years Gone", "Kashmir", "Going to California" and "No Quarter" immediately warrant placement in my list of top performances of these respective songs in 1977. Such a shame about the rampant gaps in the tape...the missing first verses of "No Quarter" is regrettable but at least you still get the great jam. But with the acoustic set going so nicely, I cringed in horror when "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp" ended abruptly after only a line or two. It is one of my favourite songs and I was so looking forward to hearing it in pristine sound. I don't recall any of my other 1977 boots having this cut in "Stomp"...does anyone else know of such a cut in 1977?
  13. A very touching post, DD. I love my aunts very much, so I can totally relate to your feelings. You do her memory proud by showing your love and appreciation for her...and I am sure you will be a beloved aunt to your nieces and/or nephews...if you aren't already.
  14. Congratulations ebk! Your trip to Chicago must have brought you some mojo...as it was your pick of Chicago that seperated you from your fellow contestants apantherfrommd and jb126 and clinched the week for you! Once again, Monday Night Football will have no bearing on the winner for the week, and neither did Cincinnati's ghastly tie with Carolina. Although now I am going to have to type 52 extra characters every week when I post the results...thanks a lot Bungholes. Unlike the past several weeks where the home teams dominated, this time it was the road teams that held sway in most of the games, posting a 9-4-1 record thru Sunday night. The biggest road surprises being Dallas running over Seattle, Chicago beating Atlanta in their dome where Matty Ice is usually at his best, and New England going into Buffalo and showing the doubters that the more things change, the more they stay the same...at least when it comes to the pecking order in the AFC East. The Patriots are still the reigning kings of the East. I'll post final numbers after Monday's SF @ StL game but here is how we all stand for the week...no matter what happens Monday night, ebk is the Champ of Week 6! ebk: 12-1-1 Anjin-san: 11-2-1 apantherfrommd: 11-2-1 jb126: 11-2-1 Bong-Man: 9-4-1 jabe: 9-4-1 LedZeppfan77: 9-4-1 paul carruthers: 9-4-1 Strider: 9-4-1 Walter: 9-4-1 in_the_evening: 8-5-1 zepscoda: 8-5-1 mack: 7-6-1
  15. Independent travel. Alberto Vargas or Gil Evgren?
  16. Poor Rick must be taking this weekend's sports results pretty hard. His "vaunted Buffalo defense" performed about as well as the "vaunted Baltimore bullpen". Ouch.
  17. Haha, I realize this was from last week but I only saw it today. So speaking of Beast Mode, here was the last meal I had in Washington before leaving...Beast Mode Breakfast.
  18. Yeah, the guy only won you 3 Super Bowls. Seattle is only moving the ball when special teams gaffes by the Cowboys give Seattle a short field. Take away the blocked punt and fumbled punt and Dallas would be dominating the score.
  19. Rebel Yell? Old Grandad? Wild Turkey? Hey Chuckster! Dallas is up at halftime! Must be interesting in your house with your son rooting for Seattle and you for Dallas.
  20. Well now that Cincinnati fucked everything up by taking it up the bunghole, aside from everyone getting a tie for that game, there are three people with perfect sheets so far: apantherfrommd ebk jb126 And they all have the same picks in the remaining games except ONE: Atlanta @ Chicago. So that is the crucial game remaining of the day.
  21. Fucking Bungholes. Everyone gets it in the end.
  22. And no sooner than you post that does Carolina tie it up and send it to OT.
  23. ^^^ Using the Pythagoras equation, I say 2.318 million.
  24. That sound you just heard was Paul
  25. Ooops. Down goes Durant. Fractured foot.
