  1. Alright Rick, I'm hoping the third time is the charm. I think this is the third time I've picked your goddamn Super Mario Bills to win and they've let me down the previous two times. Let's Go Buffalo! Ground those Jets!
  2. ^^^ Happy birthday Tom! Nothing specific. Just an overall feeling of wellness and being happy. The warmth of the sun on my face may play a part in that...and USC's upset of Stanford last night. Chivalry is not dead.
  3. I'm thinking my Houston friends will be happy for once watching the Texans, as they romp to victory over the Raiders.
  4. Not being a medicine man, I have no idea what that does or is prescribed for...is it a sedative? The 2013 Cinema Italian Style Festival http://www.cinemaitalianstyle.net/home.html has begun and I saw two amusing comedies last night, with two of the beautiful actresses from the films in person...Claudia Gerini from "A Perfect Family" and Kasia Smutniak from "Welcome Mr. President!" A Perfect Family (Una Famiglia Perfetta) 2012 Directed by: Paolo Genovese Runtime: 120 min. Cast: Sergio Castellitto Claudia Gerini Marco Giallini Carolina Crescentini Synopsis: Leone (Sergio Castellitto) is a very wealthy, very lonely man. He makes the decision to create a family Christmas by writing a script and hiring professional actors to play different family members. The comedian Fortunato (Marco Giallini), his wife Carmen (Claudia Gerini), the old Rosa (Ilaria Occhini) and young Sole (Carolina Crescentini), Luna (Eugenia Costantini) and Pietro (Eugenio Franceschini), are the cast of the ramshackle company who, when in the presence of Leone, play their parts. However, when alone they become themselves again, expressing their own thoughts and feelings about their real lives and this absurd project which they have agreed to participate in. It is not an easy task, with Leone’s constant mood-swings disturbing his own script and forcing the actors to improvise. To complicate things further, he threatens to not pay if proceedings do not develop in an acceptable way. The unexpected arrival of Alicia (Francesca Neri) causes a serious disruption, throwing the script into a disorder that will ultimately make or break the strange family unit. Welcome Mr. President! (Benvenuto Presidente! 2013 Directed by: Riccardo Milani Runtime: 100 min. Cast: Claudio Bisio Kasia Smutniak Giuseppe Fiorello Remo Girone Synopsis: Giuseppe Garibaldi (Peppino to his friends) lives in a tiny Italian mountain village. “Afflicted” with incurable optimism he enjoys good company, finds his work at the public library extremely rewarding but – above all… he loves fishing along the mountain streams. His life moves on peacefully until, by one of those political intrigues, his name comes up as the elected President of the country. He finds himself suddenly cast into a role he knows he is inadequate for but for which, against all odds, he accepts responsibility. His shameless commonsense, unlimited straightforwardness and disarming honesty produce unexpected results. The new President shakes the institutions to the bones and wins back the trust of a disheartened country. But of course murky schemings can be glimpsed over the horizon. Life in the high seat of power will never be as peaceful as a mountain spring. I have to imagine that there will be some studio that attempts an American remake of "Una Famiglia Perfetta"...it's a perfect feel-good Christmas-time movie. As for "Benvenuto Presidente!", there were some similarities to "Being There", the charming 1970s film starring Peter Sellers...but this Italian film is more overtly loopy and slapstick in its satire of Italian politics. Both of the leads are ingratiating and fun to watch...and Kasia is most definitely easy on the eyes. Tonight I'm going with friends to an Edgar Wright triple-bill at the American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre..."Shaun of the Dead"/"Hot Fuzz"/"The World's End", with Edgar Wright in person for a discussion and Q & A. http://www.americancinemathequecalendar.com/content/shaun-of-the-dead-hot-fuzz-the-world%E2%80%99s-end I have seen the first two, but haven't had a chance to see "The World's End" yet, so looking forward to crossing it off my list.
  5. Well, as you have no doubt have heard, Quick is out of the pipes for three to six weeks for the Kings due to a groin strain. Ouch. Now we see if trading Bernier to Toronto was the right thing as the goalie we got in exchange, Ben Scrivens, is now the Kings' starter and Martin Jones is called up from the AHL to be the back-up. This will be a crucial test of our depth.
  6. Warm bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar, butter, raisins, bananas. Sourdough bagel with cream cheese and lox. Hot apple-spiced tea.
  7. No, it's not Melanie...as Steve already noted...but I will pass along your words to her.
  8. "Fade Into You" was part of the setlist on this tour. Don't know why they bypassed Texas. Not even Austin got a date, but maybe next time they will swing through Texas and the South. The set list from the Wiltern show Nov. 7: 1. Look on Down From the Bridge 2. Cry, Cry 3. In the Kingdom 4. Lay Myself Down 5. Ride It On 6. Does Someone Have Your Baby Now? 7. Into Dust (this was a religious/mystical experience) 8. She Hangs Brightly 9. Halah 10. Fade Into You 11. Blue Flower 12. Disappear 13. Flying Low First Encore: 14. California 15. So Tonight That I Might See Second Encore: 16. I've Been Let Down
  9. Aren't two of their members dead? Lonesome Dave and Rod Price? Foghat without those guys is like the Stones without Mick & Keef or LZ without Robert & Jimmy. No thanks. You gotta give us a full report ledded!
  10. David only showed us the first 10 minutes or so...but just from the opening scene, it looks like it will be incredible and continue the run of good films that he's made since coming back from the dead with "The Fighter". Extra credit must go to whomever was the "hair-wrangler" on this film, as there looks to be a cornucopia of bad '70's hairdos amassed for this film, starting with Christian Bale's hilarious combover-toupeee combo!
  11. Yep, that's one I was thinking of...here's another one: There's the Black Zeppelin/Led Sabbath one that I like, too.
  12. I have the original larger format-size Concert File book, so I'll dig it out and see if the photo is in that edition and large enough to post. Perhaps the Dortmund show was recorded for use on German TV's "Rockpalast".
  13. My face as they took the stage before their Live Aid performance: My face after their performance:
  14. I like it. Sue me. Although I have heard better LZ mashups, this one isn't that bad...it's got bounce. I haven't thought of the Jimmy Page website in ages, so of course it was already gone by the time I saw the story on the web today. Thought someone would have been nice enough to archive it here (after all, I thought that was what this thread was for?)...but I guess everyone has rap-phobia. So I had to scour the internet to find a link to the song that worked.
  15. With all the talk of EVSD's new Thunder Down Under box, I have had the '72 Australian tour on my mind and I decided to bust out my old Equinox set, starting with 2.19.72 Adelaide. Now, I am listening to the 2.20.72 Melbourne show. Was it too much to ask the Australian tapers to stick around and record the encores? Was there some Shrimp on the Barbie party that they just had to get to? Was there a tape shortage or rationing or something? Going by the late-1971 and American 1972 setlists, the Aussie tapers appear to have shortchanged us by frequently missing "Celebration Day", "What Is and What Should Never Be", "Rock and Roll", "Thank You", and probably "Communication Breakdown". Think of how amazing "Celebration Day" and "Thank You" were in that period and you see the significant loss to Led Zeppelin live history due to the Aussie tapers' negligence.
  16. That's from the Adelaide show, not Melbourne.
  17. Two Forum members crossing paths at the AFI Fest and getting to talk movies and Zeppelin.

    Greetz

Depends on what you're searching for? Welcome to the Forum.
  19. Haha, 'Zeppelin bootleg porn'. Love it. Yes, EVSD's set looks nice and it's definitely more complete than the old "Thunder Down Under" box set from Equinox that I have. But I think I'll wait for Godfatherecords more reasonably priced version.
  20. It's about time. I've been hearing grumbling about Rolston all season. About a month or so ago, when Kaleta was suspended, I remember reading an article in the Times about how the Sabres were getting a reputation around the League as a dirty team and that fans wanted Rolston fired. Maybe nostalgia will work for Buffalo like it has so far for Colorado? Good luck to your team, Rick.
  21. They're like the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball. They have an infrastructure in place and a stable front office and management that allows them to compete year in and year out. They're never flashy or the flavour of the month with the media and the chattering classes; they just go out and get the job done. Steady as Ole Man River. Rick, how are you intending your use of the word 'mean' when referring to the Spurs "mean coach"? Pelicans? What an abominable team name. Bring Jazz back to New Orleans. I still haven't watched an NBA game this season...wake me when it's the All-Star break.
  22. Francona over Farrell? Cleveland was a nice story and all, but come on...Boston was left for dead after the Bobby Valentine fiasco. I didn't see one prognosticator pick Boston, while Cleveland was given a chance to make the playoffs by a few. Throw in the tragedy and upheaval of the Boston Marathon attack, and the way Farrell rallied his team and an entire city and finished with the best record in the league...to not name him Manager of the Year is a joke.
  23. And I'm trying to eat breakfast, haha.
  24. Pancetta, brie, basil, and rosemary omelette. Half a cantaloupe. Chamomile tea.
