  1. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!! Can you believe how lucky New England sports fans are? They get not one, but TWO miracle come-from-planet Pluto wins in the same day. Crazy ridiculous. First, I leave the New Orleans@Patriots game because I have to go to work right when the Saints scored to make it 24-23 with a couple minutes left. So I missed the crazy end to that game. Then, after work, I'm going into the theatre thinking Detroit's got the game wrapped up leading 5-1, only to be stunned just now finding out the Red Sox won. I'm looking forward to seeing the highlights on ESPN.

Yeah, I'm a resident of Loserville this week.
  3. ^^^ I'm sure Rick wishes he hadn't put real money on my bungling Raiders. Good effort in the first half but the second half, the Raiders offense was just BRUTAL. Poor Pryor never had a chance. In all the years I have been watching football, I have never seen a team be in a 3rd and 48 like the Raiders were in the 4th quarter. Speaking of real money, I need Walter's Cowboys to come thru for me today. I am one of only three people left in this Suicide/Survivor Pool and I have the Cowboys this week.
  4. Whaddya know...the Bungles didn't muck it up like they usually do.
  5. Well, they just cheered when he got injured today, so who knows what's next...a trade?
  6. Yeah...too bad my parlay is already DOA. Enough with this Raiders Chiefs game already CBS...get us out to Buffalo!!!
  7. That will be a common refrain for many of us this week. That and Minnesota...if I had known about the Adrian Peterson situation I would have picked Carolina instead.
  8. 24-7 Chiefs on a pick 6...tough break Rick.
  9. There goes your 9 point spread Rick.
  10. Nobody except the most devoted bootleg collector or Yardbirds enthusiast even knew about "White Summer", let alone was clamoring for it. "White Summer" was never on any official Led Zeppelin album in their lifetime and only the relatively few people who owned a Yardbirds "Little Games" LP or one of the few Zeppelin bootlegs out that had "White Summer" recognized what Jimmy was playing at those concerts. It was only when he segued into "Black Mountainside" that a cheer of recognition went up. As to the OP's question, the answer is relatively simple. The band's setlist grew and improved as the band had more material under their belts. It is hard to play a three or four hour show when you are 1) the opening band; and 2) only have one or two albums out, half of which are covers or near-covers. The Boston Tea Party 4 hour show is a misnomer or myth. By the spring of 1970 though, when they had left the Fillmores behind and were consistently selling out arenas as a headliner with no opening act, their concerts were 2 hours plus, and with each succeeding album and tour, would grow accordingly. While the performance level in the early days(1968-1972) was more consistently high level, there are still some great performances in the later years. This, coupled with setlists including some of their best and most mature songs, means that for pure Hammer of the Gods impact, a good 1973-1977 show can't be beat.
  11. Silly and preposterous question. Considering that Peter Grant came first, it is also phrased incorrectly.
  12. Rick, you must have got in early on the Raider game. The line was down to 7 points last night and this morning when I checked.

Looks like I'm doomed already...it's 17-14 at the half in the Philly @ TB game. 15 more points and I'm sunk. Haha, wouldn't you know it...there were three games I was considering taking the Unders on: Oakland @ KC, Pittsburgh @ Jets, and Philly @ TB. Leave it to me to choose the wrong one.
  14. Fucking goddamn Houston. When will I learn? Schaub is a boob!
  15. ^^^ Cast iron rules! If I could only have one thing in my kitchen it would be my cast iron skillet.
  16. RAIDERS TD! 7-0!
  17. ^^^ I suggest you listen to 6/25/77. It's even better than 6/21/77! Which means it's the best ever in Led Zeppelin 1968-1980 history. Ditto...great list there, SuperDave.
  18. ^^^ Earls Court 1975 were five separate concerts in 1975, Madison Square Garden 1973 had three separate dates...which concert date are you going by? You also neglected to mention "Thank You" and "Communication Breakdown" as part of How the West Was Won, which I assume you meant to represent the June 25, 1972 show? Because the official HTWWW release does not include "Louie Louie" at all, let alone "Thank You" and the others. So why list "Louie Louie" at all? It's all rather confusing and seemingly arbitrary what criteria you're using to reach your conclusion.

Thanks jabe. I'll keep the parlay then...I changed my post back to my original bet.
  20. Having breakfast with the NFL...yes, it is only 10:15am here. Belgian waffles with strawberries and cream and Eggs Florentine. Water, Bloody Mary, coffee.
  21. Tell me about it. But look at it in a more positive light...hockey and basketball season just got closer.
  22. Thanks Paul. I hope you're right. Actually, I was kind of shocked to find out how well Oakland has done recently at Kansas City. I have alwys considered Arrowhead the Raiders personal chamber of horrors but they're something like 8-1 ATS at Arrowhead lately. If the spread had remained at 10, 10.5 points I would have bet Oakland, but it's down to 7 now...which means a ton of money came in on Oakland.
  23. What did I tell you about the Dodgers never giving Kershaw any run support? Now LA has wasted two great efforts by its starting pitchers in the first two games, leaving them having to win 4 of the remaining 5 games, three of which will be in St. Louis, and two facing Adam Wainwright. Even if the Dodgers win these next two at home, the odds are against it. What are the odds we get two 1-0 playoff games on the same day? You don't usually see that, especially with an AL game. Cards-Tigers WS getting closer to reality.
