  1. ^^^ Why would Black Dawg be in jail? He didn't strike me as the lawbreaker type.
  2. ^^^ That is terrible, Walter. Poor kid. I'd be surprised if Adrien Peterson plays Sunday. I would think he'd want to be with his boy. By the way, you posted the story twice and there is some weird Twitter thing loading in the middle...any way you could eliminate that and tidy the post a little?
  3. I like a Tawny Port, but I realize many people don't like ports or sherries. If that is the case with you, try a Sauternes or a Madeira wine instead. Some people recommend one of the German whites...a Gewürz or Riesling, but I have never been able to find one that convinces. An Eiswein might work...I've had it with chocolate but haven't tried it with cookie or peanut butter yet. Speaking of chocolate, I recently acquired a bottle of chocolate wine and am waiting for the right opportunity to try it. I'll let you know how it goes.
  4. If the Jags couldn't beat the Raiders...haha. I think either Tennessee or Cleveland provides their best bet at a win. I wonder if Denver can put up 60 on Jacksonville? 70?
  5. I've got something better than peanut butter...Trader Joe's Cookie Butter. In both crunchy and smooth styles.
  6. This better not be a hoax. (Checks to see the story link isn't from Wes' beloved Weaky Standard)
  7. Hehehe, y'all jinxed Justin V last night. Ok, now that we're through with the hors d'oeuvres, it's time for the main course...and what a course it is! I don't know about you, but I am expecting two great League Championship Series between these four teams. Boston vs. Detroit. St. Louis vs. Los Angeles. Four classic historic teams...none of these recent expansion interlopers like the Marlins or Tampa Bay. Boston has the bats and Home Field Advantage, but Detroit has the pitching, I fear...and the incomparable Miguel Cabrera. The possible good news for Boston is that because Justin Verlander pitched last night, they might only have to face him once in the series, depending on how Detroit sets their rotation and if they decide to pitch him on short rest. It'll be a great battle but I think Boston somehow finds a way. Boston in 7. In the NLCS, St. Louis also has a pitching advantage over the Dodgers...as well as HFA and a major playoff experience advantage. This is the Cardinals third straight LCS, while the Dodgers haven't been here in years. LA's pitching staff is especially green when it comes to playoff-pressure. How will they respond? Clayton Kershaw got no run support all season...a major reason why he didn't win 20 games. If the Dodgers don't help Kershaw out and waste his two starts, that puts more pressure on the Dodgers to beat Adam Wainwright and the other Cardinal pitchers. I mean, you have to win four games. If the Dodgers blow both of Kershaw's starts, that means they have to win 4 of the remaining 5 games, including beating Wainwright twice. That ain't gonna be easy. I want the Dodgers to win but I think the Cardinals are just a little better where it counts and more playoff-tested and ready. St. Louis in 6. LET'S PLAY BALL!!!
  8. Going over my godson's interview with Patton Oswalt.
  9. I'm generally a peaceable guy but yeah, I'm with you. I think we all could use some wine.
  10. No Bears vs. Giants? Oh, and just as I speak...the Bears pick off Manning and take it to the house. 7-0 Bears.
  11. Well, at least I was over .500 for the week...did the Jets really win in Atlanta? Oakland surprised me, too! Late start must have helped. October is usually where we start to see some separation and the favourites start to assert themselves. Week 6 schedule: CHICAGO...Jags aren't the only ones who might go 0-16; NY's Giants won't have to worry about Tom Coughlin's hard practices if he gets fired soon. CINCINNATI...sorry Rick, no can do. Buffalo screws me every time I pick them. DETROIT...one week they're up, another week down...I think Detroit is up this week. KANSAS CITY...it doesn't matter if KC is for real; no matter what the Chiefs record is, Arrowhead is Oakland's chamber of horrors. MINNESOTA...el stinko game of the weak. NY JETS...another el stinko game. PHILADELPHIA...three stinkers in a row...bleccch! GREEN BAY...how do you like Flaccid's contract now, Baltimore? HOUSTON...what the fuck happened to the Texans? They're burning Shaub jerseys in Houston...they're desperate for a win and desperate teams usually win these types of games. DENVER...Slaughter at Mile-High! Only question is whether they cover the 28 point spread. SEATTLE...after two long road trips, Seahawks feast at home. SAN FRANCISCO...as should the 49ers, keeping things tight in the NFC West. NEW ORLEANS...GAME OF THE WEEK!!! I went back and forth on this game...as much as I hate having to go against Brady and Belichek at home, New Orleans has been looking too good. I'll take the Who Dats! DALLAS...like Rick, I sense a possibility of a Dallas letdown and Taters upset...BUT that would mean actually having faith in Washington and I don't...plus I hate Shanahan. Go Cowboys! SAN DIEGO...ths is my upset hunch of the week...big win over Seattle + long road trip to coast + MNF home crowd = Chargers win.
  12. So, we were watching "Kill Bill" the other day...both volumes together as one giant movie. It goes without saying that "Kill Bill" has some of the best fight scenes ever, especially if you are an aficianado of woman versus woman, girl-on-girl, cat-fights, or whatever phrase you prefer...and, as there are so many awesome fight scenes in the film, especially of the woman versus woman variety, the discussion afterwards turned on the merits of each fight scene and which fight was the best. Most of our group tended to favour either the Uma vs. Vivica in "Kill Bill Volume 1" or Uma vs. Daryl Hannah in "Kill Bill Volume 2", although there was some loud support for Uma vs. Gogo. It was hard to choose one over the other, but for me, the eyeball tips the scale in favour of Uma vs. Daryl. The arguments got loud and testy through the night and so I thought this would make for a lively debate/discussion here on the Forum. In case there are those who haven't seen the movie, here is the evidence to help you make your choice. Fight #1...Uma Thurman vs. Vivica Fox: Fight #2...Uma Thurman vs. Daryl Hannah: http://youtu.be/91fCy3W7Ax4 Fight #3...Uma Thurman vs. Gogo Yubari:
  13. What the hell is going on with your boys, Rick? Sabres haven't won a game yet! Ally's Canucks starting strong.
  14. Definitely an overlooked gem of a show...I'm already on record as stating 6/22/77 has my favourite OTHAFA. No, he couldn't.
  15. Has anybody checked out Tame Impala on their present tour, especially the dates with the Flaming Lips? They are hitting the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles October 29 and I cannot wait for this potentially epic show and was hoping to get an advance word from some of you more adventurous musical souls out there. Tame Impala Fall 2013 US Tour: 09-30 Boston, MA - Agganis Arena ^ 10-01-02 New York, NY - Terminal 5 ^ 10-03 Philadelphia, PA - Penn's Landing ^ 10-04 Columbia, MD - Merriweather Post Pavilion ^ 10-06 Austin, TX - Austin City Limits Festival 10-08 St. Louis, MO - The Pageant 10-09 Madison, WI - Orpheum Theater 10-10 Chicago, IL - Riviera Theater 10-11 Kansas City, MO - Starlight Theater * 10-12 Dallas, TX - South Side Ballroom * 10-13 Austin, TX - Austin City Limits Festival 10-26 Boulder, CO - Boulder Theater 10-27 Denver, CO - Ogden Theater 10-29 Los Angeles, CA - Greek Theater ^ ^ with The Flaming Lips * with the National
  16. Not if they have musical taste. No...a friend was just cheering me up.
  17. Sorry...I was out of bacon and black pudding.
  18. Preseason NBA is the worst...it is meaningless. Clippers vs. Lakers opening night...which I will miss, or have to watch on Tivo, as I will be at the Flaming Lips/Tame Impala concert that night.
  19. ^^^ Steve ROCKS it! Joe Biden doesn't. One size doesn't fit all, Mr. Garlic. The ability to pull off long hair in old age is up to the individual.
  20. Glad I have the day off so I can actually watch the St. Louis-Pittsburgh game at 2pm today. I have yet to watch one game of this series, and since the winner will face the Dodgers, I want to get a preview of what to expect. The bonus is that the game will be over early enough that I can still go out tonight.
