  1. Not from me. I have said Oakland will hold off Texas since the All-Star break. When I posted my preview of the last month of the season I had Oakland penciled in as the likely AL West winner. Baltimore is unbelievable...I find it hard to fathom they're going to tank the end of the season after playing so well most of the year. Luckily for them, Boston will probably rest starters during the last series, giving the Os a chance at a sweep that may squeak them into the playoffs.
  2. Lunch: Tuna, avocado, tomato, and alfalfa sprouts sandwich. Tomato soup. Pomegranate and pineapple juice.
  3. ^^^ Looks like Knebworth. For those of you sad that Dexter is gone, you should check out this new show on Showtime called "Ray Donovan". It's great and what a cast...Liev Schreiber, Eddie Marsan, Jon Voight, Katherine Moennig, Paula Malcomson, Elliott Gould, Steven Bauer, James Woods.
  4. How fascinating. Not. Obviously you didn't read the link. I've decided to pass on going to the McCartney concert. There are other things I want to do and I have already seen Macca five times. Plus, since this is for the Jimmy Kimmel Show, it'll be on TV later tonight as well as the internet, I'm sure. Undecided about Timberlake tomorrow...I do like some of the new album.
  5. DOLPHINS AND THE CHIEFS ARE 3-0! Who'd have thought that?

Wow! Seattle covered easily! I have a feeling Jacksonville might be double-digit underdogs the rest of the season. 1650 Dallas -1 @ San Diego (Las Vegas Hilton) 650 Dallas
  7. Sitting at 6-9 going into Monday Night Football. That sense of doom was real, haha.
  8. Just watched one of the best new shows on TV right now: "Ray Donovan" on Showtime.
  9. Happy birthday clw! I'm sure you had Robert serenading to you 24/7 today! Cheers!
  10. "Satisfaction" for one sounds better in mono. "Let's Spend the Night Together" is another. But basically, yes, most of the early singles (1963-1968) sound better to my ears in mono than stereo. For one thing, there was more quality control when mixing in mono...usually the mono mix was given more attention by the producer and the band. The stereo mix was often an afterthought, due to the fact that sales were in singles not LPs at that time. Of course, if you don't have the original mono 45rpms or the original mono albums, then that opens another can of worms. Because ALL of the Rolling Stones CD releases of their classic Decca/ABKCO material have had problems being true to the fidelity of the originals. Whether it is the stereo or mono remasters we are talking about, the CDs never sound as good as the old albums and singles. But I don't have time right now to get into that byzantine trail of tears...I'm with friends. Another time perhaps.
  11. What the hell was up with a lot of teams today...the Giants? Houston? San Francisco?
  12. I'm going to try to get into this Monday...more interested in the Paul McCartney show than the Justin Timberlake one the next day. Either way, Hollywood traffic is going to be hell the next few days. http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/09/paul-mccartney-justin-timberlake-and-jimmy-kimmel-to-screw-hollywood-traffic-for-two-night-concert/

^^^ To be fair to Meredith Hunter, he was a black man with a white girlfriend in the process of getting beaten to death by pool-stick weilding Hell's Angels. I'd say he had a pretty good reason for pulling a gun and trying to defend himself. Isn't that what everyone praised George Zimmerman for?

To Sagittarius Rising: The Rolling Stones used the London chapter of Hell's Angels for their Hyde Park concert in June 1969 with no problems. Obviously they felt using Hell's Angels for Altamont would be the same. They didn't account for two things... 1) The London Hell's Angels are a church choir compared to the Sonny Barger SF/Oakland Hell's Angels. 2) The massive amounts of bad acid and booze everyone was hopped up on. To Disco Duck: The Firm never played the Hollywood Bowl. Jimmy was talking about the concert Page & Plant played at the Bowl in 1998 on the Walking into Clarksdale tour. It was a GREAT show, by the way, and we had great seats for it...one of the center boxes in the first row behind the pool pit. Jimmy played an amazing No Quarter!
  19. Utter disaster. I stand at 3-7 so far on my card. Thanks for showing up Giants and Houston and Minnesota...NOT!
  20. Fourth down and FAIL! Access denied!
  21. ^^^ Or Green Bay. Are you fucking kidding me with that fumble on 4th down!?!?!
  22. :hysterical: jabe, you slay me!
  23. Did Rick say if he was going to the Bills-Jets game?
  24. Green Bay starting to pull away...23-14 in the 3rd. Dallas crushing the Lambs 24-0! Walter is cranking Lady Gaga in celebration!
