  1. Like No Quarter and SIBLY, Thank You was one of those songs that always sounded great in concert. Plus, each one would always be just a little different than the one before. So to pick a favourite version is always tough, as there are so many to choose from, each with their own strong points to recommend them...whether it's Jimmy's solo, or the way Bonzo plays during the solo(like the way he goes berzerk on 6/25/72) or the sublime way the band handles the outro. Giving it some thought, here is my Top 10. 1. 6.25.72 LA Forum. For obvious reasons. 2. 4.1.71 Paris Theatre, London. BBC Sessions. 3. 6.3.73 LA Forum. For obvious reasons. 4. 9.19.70 MSG evening show. 5. 8.31.71 Orlando. 6. 9.4.70 LA Forum. 7. 9.29.71 Osaka. 8. 1.22.73 Southampton, UK. Love the different feel the mellotron adds. 9. 3.7.70 Montreux. 10. 3.21.70 Vancouver. Favourite post-Zeppelin Thank You: 5.16.95 LA Forum. Page & Plant Un-ledded Tour. The way the band was cooking in March 1973, I always felt it was a shame the band didn't add Thank You to the set as an encore during those German shows.
  2. Amstel pretty much nailed it...that 1973 Hamburg show is Hotter than a Hindenburg! The '73 Offenburg show is another scorcher...the best audience tape of the tour. To put it another way, imagine the Led Zeppelin of Germany 1973...or 1971...playing a 1975 or 1977 setlist?
  3. Well, the EVSD set I have contains both the afternoon and evening shows on four discs and it's called Silently Praying for Jimi.
  4. So last year we had 11 participants. Who are the missing people from last season? Arcane29 Beckenbauer Black Dawg in_the_evening Rick, wasn't Arcane29 a Buffalo fan too? Maybe you can track him down? Nervous about many games tomorrow: Denver @ Giants San Francisco @ Seattle Dallas @ Kansas City New Orleans @ Tampa Bay Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati Detroit @ Arizona Minnesota @ Chicago
  5. I have three versions of the 9/19/70 evening show and they all sound pretty smilar in quality. There is only so much you can do to the tape in the state it was in after sitting in a closet for 30 years. 1. "Requiem" 2. "One More For the Road" 3. "Silently Praying for Jimi"
  6. I realize I am in the minority on this, but I have always firmly believed that it was neither. I believe that Mike Millard simply had a guy named Eddie that he traded with, or made copies of his shows for, and simply wrote that on the cassette of the 6/21 show he sent, as a way of expressing how amazing the show was. Both of those Eddie Van Halen and Eddie Kramer quotes about Jimmy didn't become public knowledge until long after the bootleg came out, so therefore, it doesn't follow that Mike Millard would reference something that hadn't even happened yet. Eddie is just a guy named Eddie, that's all. But the Eddie Van Halen or Eddie Kramer angle makes for a juicy anecdote, so people like to cling to that instead.
  7. Key game in the BCS title chase today...Alabama @ Texas A & M is about to start. Maybe 'Bama can knock some sense into Johnny Football? College Station, Texas will be rocking!

Bump. It's as easy as playing the Song name game, people.
  9. Is yours a matrix? Mine is the EVSD release Chasing the Dragon.
  10. Calm down, folks. I never said you couldn't discuss or render judgment on the shows. I only said I would sit this one out and abstain from trying to pick one over the other. I listen to boots and try to rank my favourite performances myself...it is a fun topic to discuss and argue. But trying to choose between 6/21 and 6/23 is too tough...that's all I was conveying.
  11. ^^^ I had a feeling which is why I didn't allow myself to get excited. A tape like that wouldn't be offered on e-bay or public channels, in my opinion. It would be strictly hush-hush thru covert secret operations. Like a Freezer caper. But, yeah...if either the afternoon or evening show of 9/19/70 came out in Soundboard, I would declare a Worldwide Zeppelin Holiday!!! Especially the evening show.
  12. My issue isn't with what a 1977 Forum Soundboard would or wouldn't reveal, performance-wise. It's not going to change my opinion of the shows, and I have learned long ago that Jimmy's guitar never sounds as good on a Soundboard as it did in the hall. My question is the quality of the Soundboard tape itself. If the '77 Forum sounds like the 1975 Soundboards, great...I'll gladly listen to those. But if they sound more like the drab and brittle '77 Houston or New York Soundboards...or some of those 1973 ones, then I'll stick to my Mike Millards.
  13. Everyone starts this week 1-0...except for crazy jabe.
  14. ^^^ Happy Cotton-pickin' Anniversary to you and yours, Jules!
  15. I totally forgot about that whole Michael Hutchence weirdness...what a shite Bob was. In retrospect, he was the perfect git to play 'Pink' in that 'orrible "Pink Floyd The Wall" movie. I mean, if you couldn't have the original misanthropic cunt himself, Roger Waters, play 'Pink', Bob Geldof was a good substitute.
  16. No it does not. Not even close. Look, the Rolling Stones are still an on-going concern who made dozens of TV and Radio appearances, as well as welcomed cameras into their midst to film reel after reel of footage. Led Zeppelin, for all intents and purposes, hasn't been a working band since the death of John Bonham, save for a few one-offs here and there. Their last studio album was released in 1979. They were more circumspect with regards to promotional appearances and filming and recording their activities, both in the studio and on stage. Not to mention the stuff that's been stolen over the years. In short, Led Zeppelin's archive is puny compared to the likes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan. You can't release what you don't have.
  17. Jiminy Cricket...that was the longest minute of my life. Just end the game already. As I was saying, the Jets could have stolen this game...if they weren't the Jets, haha. Poor play by both teams and a very ugly game in the rain.
  18. New England's offense looks ragged. The Jets could steal this game. These announcers on the NFL Network are the very definition of drab. Boring as hell.
  19. Here comes the rain again...
  20. Taking advantage of 'Happy Hour' at the pub while watching the games. Prime rib sliders, basket of beer-battered onion rings and two pints of Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer.
  21. 13-3 at halftime. There is an annoying Jets fan at the pub I'm watching the game. Tedy Bruschi is being honoured by the Patriots at halftime. http://www.boston.com/community/forums/sports/patriots/on-the-front-burner/jets-patriots-game-thread/100/6214442
  22. Hahaha...whether it's Sanchez or Tebow or Geno behind center, it's still the same old Jets.
  23. Uh oh...could be a blow out before I get to the pub to watch.
  24. What happened Paul?
