  1. You will find that, unlike most adaptations of books, they stayed pretty true to the text and include large swathes of the book verbatim in the film. "We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold." Reggie, if you're out there, I owe you an apology. On second thought and second viewing, it turns out you're right about Morgan Spurlock. His documentaries do tend to pander and state the obvious. Now he has sunk to the level of making a hagiography of the boy band One Direction.
  2. At least they won for you, Chuck. Was babysitting all day, so I'm only now able to compile everyone's picks. Here are the first week's results... WEEK 1 paul carruthers 9-7 jabe 8-8 LedZeppfan77 10-6 Strider 13-3 DAS 11-5 Walter 9-7 Defending Champion jb126 12-4

Maybe it's "of course" for you, but for most of us, if you mention a Robert when talking about actors, we're going to think of Robert DeNiro or Robert Mitchum, etc. It helps to be clear.

Is it too much to ask for you to comprehend your own post? I know you said Clint Eastwood...that wasn't what I was asking. You also mentioned a 'Robert' in your post and I was asking which Robert you were referring to?
  5. Dallas wins...that Pick 6 clinches the victory. 12-2 going into Monday night's games.
  6. So very true, Reggie. In fact, most "Best city/state/country'" statements are debatable at best, and a waste of time... ...however, I'll definitely take Sydney over Tokyo.
  7. 11-2 so far...and I've got Dallas, too, Paul, so we can worry together.

^^^ Always love watching that one. Great footage of the Monterey Jazz Festival and use of Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". Are you referring to Robert De Niro or Robert Redford or Robert Plant? Or possibly Robert Duvall? Robert Blake? The possibilities are endless. Further discussion has taken place on Walter's Actor/Actress thread: http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/16338-favorite-actoractress/?fromsearch=1

    NFLZ Sportbook

That's because KC got to open against the worst team in the league - the Jacksonville Jackoffs. And jabe is a southern man...isn't it against the law to bet against a Southern team?
  10. ^^^ The number of Hall of Famers in that 1975 World Series trumps any recent WS like St. Louis-Texas or other steroid-era Fall Classics. Rick, if you read my post closely, you'll see that I said the Yankees have a brutal first couple of weeks before their schedule gets easy. If they can somehow manage to get thru this thicket without losing too much ground, however, they will have a good chance of gaining ground while Baltimore and Boston and Texas and Tampa play tougher foes.
  11. Kansas City is pretty loyal too.

Since jabe created this book, I'll leave it to him to decide my fate. Damn...always play your first hunch. If I had bet Denver as originally planned, I'd be way ahead.
  13. ^^^ Great crowd at Buffalo at least. Better than all those losers in Florida that cannot even support a winning team like the Rays.

GO DJOKOVIC! I hate having to wait until Monday for the match. Serena well on her way to another victory.
  15. Hooray! I was at that one. My favourite "Heartbreaker" from 1975...love the "I'm a Man" jam. Jimmy's solo on this has a particularly nice and nasty sharp tone to it, reminiscent of the early days. So, it looks like I was in the house for many of the longest performances of "No Quarter": 6/27/77; 6/26/77; 6/23/77; and 3/27/75. 6/21 and 6/25 shouldn't be too far behind, either, even if they are not 30 minutes plus.
  16. And it is your right to overreact. I wasn't criticizing everybody with a ponytail. Jimmy Page looks very distinguished with a ponytail. I was always a sucker for Steffi Graf's ponytail...very perky and sexy. As is my girlfriend's. But your photo of Joe Biden with a ponytail is scaring the children. He looks like a douche, plain and simple. I wouldn't buy a pencil from him, let alone want him to lead the country.
  17. As I said above, watch out for Cleveland...they play nobody!!! Every other team in the playoff chase has to play multiple series with either a division leader or playoff contender. BUT NOT CLEVELAND! They get to feast on losers.
  18. I hope you have also had the pleasure of reading Hunter S. Thompson's book that the film and Johnny Depp's character was based on?

No, I'm a big boy. I made the pick, I pay the price. I'm out. Good luck to the rest of you...may the best prognosticator win.
  20. Provided there is still a world in 2020. Or, to be more accurate, a world still inhabited by humans.
  21. Yes, the Raiders played it much closer than I expected. Terrell Pryor showed some promise. Seattle has 4 more East Coast road games with 10am start times, which they always struggle with.
  22. Poor Rick must be swimming at the bottom of a bottle of Jack after his Bills came soooooooooo close to upsetting the Patriots. I was sweating out every one of the morning games...at one point, I looked at every screen and I was losing every single game in the second half. Thankfully, the Patriots, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle came thru at the end for me. But the Steelers and Jackoffs let me down big time. Hope everyone is enjoying the unofficial American holiday of NFL Sunday!!! I am disappointed in the lack of participants this year in our NFL picks pool...less than half of what we had last year. Come on people...it's free and painless. If you can spend all that time on the song name game or whatever name game threads proliferate here, surely you can muscle up the brain power and community spirit to make some NFL picks?
