That's because KC got to open against the worst team in the league - the Jacksonville Jackoffs. And jabe is a southern man...isn't it against the law to bet against a Southern team?
  2. ^^^ The number of Hall of Famers in that 1975 World Series trumps any recent WS like St. Louis-Texas or other steroid-era Fall Classics. Rick, if you read my post closely, you'll see that I said the Yankees have a brutal first couple of weeks before their schedule gets easy. If they can somehow manage to get thru this thicket without losing too much ground, however, they will have a good chance of gaining ground while Baltimore and Boston and Texas and Tampa play tougher foes.
  3. Kansas City is pretty loyal too.

Since jabe created this book, I'll leave it to him to decide my fate. Damn...always play your first hunch. If I had bet Denver as originally planned, I'd be way ahead.
  5. ^^^ Great crowd at Buffalo at least. Better than all those losers in Florida that cannot even support a winning team like the Rays.

GO DJOKOVIC! I hate having to wait until Monday for the match. Serena well on her way to another victory.
  7. Hooray! I was at that one. My favourite "Heartbreaker" from 1975...love the "I'm a Man" jam. Jimmy's solo on this has a particularly nice and nasty sharp tone to it, reminiscent of the early days. So, it looks like I was in the house for many of the longest performances of "No Quarter": 6/27/77; 6/26/77; 6/23/77; and 3/27/75. 6/21 and 6/25 shouldn't be too far behind, either, even if they are not 30 minutes plus.
  8. And it is your right to overreact. I wasn't criticizing everybody with a ponytail. Jimmy Page looks very distinguished with a ponytail. I was always a sucker for Steffi Graf's ponytail...very perky and sexy. As is my girlfriend's. But your photo of Joe Biden with a ponytail is scaring the children. He looks like a douche, plain and simple. I wouldn't buy a pencil from him, let alone want him to lead the country.
  9. As I said above, watch out for Cleveland...they play nobody!!! Every other team in the playoff chase has to play multiple series with either a division leader or playoff contender. BUT NOT CLEVELAND! They get to feast on losers.
  10. I hope you have also had the pleasure of reading Hunter S. Thompson's book that the film and Johnny Depp's character was based on?

No, I'm a big boy. I made the pick, I pay the price. I'm out. Good luck to the rest of you...may the best prognosticator win.
  12. Provided there is still a world in 2020. Or, to be more accurate, a world still inhabited by humans.
  13. Yes, the Raiders played it much closer than I expected. Terrell Pryor showed some promise. Seattle has 4 more East Coast road games with 10am start times, which they always struggle with.
  14. Poor Rick must be swimming at the bottom of a bottle of Jack after his Bills came soooooooooo close to upsetting the Patriots. I was sweating out every one of the morning games...at one point, I looked at every screen and I was losing every single game in the second half. Thankfully, the Patriots, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle came thru at the end for me. But the Steelers and Jackoffs let me down big time. Hope everyone is enjoying the unofficial American holiday of NFL Sunday!!! I am disappointed in the lack of participants this year in our NFL picks pool...less than half of what we had last year. Come on people...it's free and painless. If you can spend all that time on the song name game or whatever name game threads proliferate here, surely you can muscle up the brain power and community spirit to make some NFL picks?
  15. Oh for the love of St. Crispin, look at that photo...would you buy a car from a guy who looked like that? Maybe you would. After all, you are the guy who keeps quoting Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart", so I shouldn't expect much. I'm going to work. Have at it.

  18. 1976 Stabler Raiders vs. 1983 Plunkett Raiders would be a great matchup. As much as I loved the old Oakland teams and will always have a sentimental attachment to them, I think the 1983 Raiders were just a tad deeper in talent and more versatile. The Stabler teams didn't have anybody like Marcus Allen.
  19. Because he looks like a record label exec/lawyer...or a roadie for Rush.

^^^ Yeah, so much for the calm, mature Andy Murray. It was back to the Sour Scot. Come on Novak!!! I have got to cheer for Djokovic...Wawrinka looks too uncomfortably like Seth McFarlane. Serena will pound her way into the winners circle again tomorrow, I believe.
  21. Forgot to add this to my past last night... Magic numbers: Atlanta - 9 LA Dodgers - 11 Boston - 14 Detroit - 16
  22. I'd love to E if it wasn't for this pesky 4,000 miles between us, hehe. Camden Yards is on my to-do list. And so, baseball fans...it has come down to the last month of the season. Four more weekends to go and here is where things stand. The NL is pretty much devoid of suspense as both the Dodgers and Atlanta have their divisions sewn up, and it doesn't really matter who wins the NL Central because all three teams chasing the division(Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Cincinnati) are also locks for the wild card. The AL is where the action is at. Sure, the AL East and Central are looking good for the Red Sox and Tigers respectively, barring a collapse down the stretch. But the AL West is a dogfight between Oakland and Texas as usual...one half a game separates them. My pathetic Angels languish 14.5 games back and even with their recent string of victories are still eight games under .500. The Wild Card is a five team scrum for two spots. As it stands now, Texas and Tampa are in the top two spots. But Tampa has been reeling of late(they lost again last night in Seattle) and if the Angels can beat Texas again this weekend, it will make things very interesting indeed. For Cleveland and Baltimore and even the Yankees are less than 3 games back. Rangers 80-60 Rays 77-63 Indians 75-65 2 GB Orioles 75-65 2 GB Yankees 75-66 2.5 GB Schedule-wise, Boston has a beast of a schedule left...five more games with the Yankees, three at Tampa, and six games with Baltimore, including three at Baltimore to close the season. Only Toronto and Colorado give them a reprieve of sorts...and going to Colorado is no picnic for the pitching staff. Boston could be depleted by the time they get to Baltimore. As for Baltimore, besides the home-and-away series with Boston, they have two crucial 4-game series to worry about: The hated Yankees next week at home and Tampa on the road two weeks from now. But Baltimore also gets to feast on Toronto for six games. And what about the Yankees? Well, they have an interesting schedule that could play into their favour. Their remaining schedule is front-loaded...Boston, @ Baltimore for 4, @ Boston. But then, from September 17 on, their last 12 games of the season are against the dregs of MLB...and one team that is reeling. At Toronto, San Francisco and Tampa at home, and finishing up at Houston. Depending on how they make it through these next couple of weeks, the Yankees could clean up and make up ground at the end while Boston and Baltimore are duking it out. What about the Indians and the Rays? The way Tampa is reeling, it may not matter who they play...but they finish @ Seattle, Boston, @ Minnesota, Texas for 4, Baltimore for 4, @ Yankees, @ Toronto. CLEVELAND though is the one to watch out for...their schedule is ridiculously easy the rest of the way! They don't have to face one division leader or even a wild card contender...it's mostly bottom-feeders for the Indians. NY Mutts, KC, @ CHW for 4, @ KC, Houston for 4, CHW for 2, @ Minnesota. You couldn't ask for a better scenario if you're an Indian fan. Lastly, the race between Oakland and Texas will most likely be settled with their lone remaining three-game series at Texas next weekend. Which means both teams need to win against the bottom-feeders in their division(Angels, Seattle, Houston). Of the two, Oakland has the more favourable schedule...they get Minnesota while Texas has to play Pittsburgh and at Tampa. PLAY BALL!!!
