  1. Instrument? I may well have seen him perform, as I used to be partial to the occasional orchestral concert at the Winter Gardens (damn you, Bournemouth council). RB
  2. Yes, tragic. Far better acoustics than the brick shit-house of the BIC next door, but ultimately politics got in the way of good taste. I even managed two gigs there myself. Was your dad a member of the BSO? RB
  3. I saw Yes for the first time when this album made its live debut in its entirety at Bournemouth Winter Gardens, UK (venue now a car park), on 16th and 17th November 1973. I also saw them at Southampton, UK, on the Relayer tour during May 1975, and later that year at the 15th Reading Festival, UK. On all occasions they were on top of their game. RB
  4. I've been aware of the squeaky bass drum pedal from the mid seventies, after I had a serious upgrade of Hi-Fi, so I'm surprised that Page claims it was un-noticed at the time of recording. I would have thought that a master played through studio monitors would have revealed it at the time. Yes, The Ocean and the ringing phone: again, it wasn't until the advent of the CD that people started asking me if I heard the phone on a Led Zeppelin track, and it always raised eyebrows when I instantly answered "yes, during the guitar solo on The Ocean" - that, and overloading microphones (crackling noises).
