  1. Around the Fall of 2019...November, if memory serves me well. Of course the announcement of Empress' 928 SB was drawing all the attention
  2. https://twitter.com/yuminori0616/status/1230099969052307459/photo/3 After one month, 'Evolution is Timing' already receives a vol.2 companion set. Not (as I suggested) 'Resolution is Rhyming' 15 CD box, culled fro the classic audience tapes (Winterland, Paris 69, Montreux, LA Forum 70, Berkeley, Tokyo 71,...) but this time entirely focussed on studio outtakes. Hopefully another 25USD bargain😉
  3. Eric (Fisheads) has been around for ages. I think he started his business in Tokyo around 1990 when boot CD's became popular (and you ordered by FAX or snail mail 😬). For most collectors he was the connection to acquire Tecumseh, Tarantura, Immigrant, Antrabata, Cobla or Dynamite Studio releases. His pricing is a bit more expensive although the latest Empress soundboard is slightly cheaper (not much) compared to Air Raid.
  4. Communication Breakdown and No Quarter. Other songs: Trampled Underfoot, Nobody's fault But Mine, The Ocean, Heartbreaker, Over the Hills and far Away....A lot of Houses of the Holy, isn't it? ...For me, these songs somehow work better Live.
  5. And by the way, who had the opportunity to actually dig in to the 928 SB ? OK, we were lucky enough to get the remastered 'Bron Y Aur Stomp' appetizer, but what about the rest? I'm extremely curious to learn about the sound quality and the gaps/cuts in the source tape. Any reviewers out there?
  6. No speculation...Look at the Moonchild artwork and use of typography. One of the best known Empress Valley distributors (AirRaid) is offering Moonchild/Empress titles as a bonus if you buy five titles. Moonchild is a rather clever move to release popular bootlegs at bargain prices. It helps Empress Valley/Mid Valley/ Halcyon to dominate an increasingly difficult market, where more budget friendly copy cats like Eelgrass and Eat A Peach/Golden Eggs are eager to cash in on re releases.
  7. Well, the standard edition looks quite OK, isn't it? concert photo's from the Japan 71 tour... the ' Please Please Me' Beatles covers bonus disc looks like it's sourced from the old familiar sources (BBHill, Royal Albert Hall the old 929 stereo dub,...)
  8. Hi Neil, I received a notification from Air Raid an hour ago...this night it will happen! and now fingers crossed the standard edition will feature suitable artwork, compared to the de-luxe editions. Some 1977 Jimmy 'White Dragon Suit' or some Percy from Knebworth 79, maybe? LOL
  9. We'll probably never know what is in the hands of EV and what is not. IMO there is more from 929 SB source, but maybe EV couldn't work out a deal OR the supplier never got hold of those missing reels in the first place. The availability of only one reel from Toronto and the two reels from Hampton (discussed elsewhere)is a giveaway . From what I heard of the 928 SB (Black Dog), I 'm confident that this new release is also culled from the band's Revox 1/4 " reel to reel deck patched to the mixing desk (just like EV's HTEWW 929, Hampton, Orlando, Toronto.).. and definetly not from the Warner Japan commisioned multi track recordings. Besides being mono, the balance of the instruments is different (SB vs Multi dub) . What rendered the Japan multis 'useless' for commercial release , is the balance. Bonzo's cymbals being way too loud and piercing and Percy's vox too low in the louder parts of the show. In some period British interviews Plant complained about the 'balance (of these Japan Live recordings) being as bad as a bootleg".... and 'We recorded ourselves with an ordinary Revox and achieved much better results' Nuff said BTW with the aid pro tools most of the multi track's deficiencies could be salvaged by adding the signal from the SB tapes, (just my two pence😎)
  10. Previous week I've spotted another one on an auction site here in Europe for a whopping 160 Euro.
  11. Very clear and detailed new source, and I would call it on par with the popular 'No Use Greco/Patriot' AUD recording if it wasn't for the wow and flutter on this tape (esp. Jimmy's guitar)
  12. Just my guesstimate. On release date, Air Raid sold them at 25USD. Then there was a notification 'Evolution' being almost sold out. That was removed and the price increased to 38USD, that batch also is sold out by now.
  13. Yep, but once opened it becomes a bit fiddly and the individual cd's will be prone to scratches. I think I will get some protective inner CD sleeves. Other than that, it IS a great compilation. Second pressing run is sold out now. Curious if a third batch will be released (with a price increase to 50 bucks?)

  15. I succumbed, I simply could not resist this cheapo Soundboard Live Anthology ....and it' s very nice 😎. Thinking of this, a companion release -compiling the better quality Zep Audience tapes in a neat square EV box also would be a delight 1970 (Montreux, Tampa, L.A, N.Y ), 1971 (Copenhagen, Berkley, Tokyo, Ipswitch), 1972/73 combo (Tokyo, Osaka, London-Alexandra Palace, Offenburg, L.A ???) 1975 (best of Mike Millard), 1977 (best of Mike Millard), 1979 (best of the Copenhagen warm ups). "Resolution is Rhyming" ...anyone?
  16. By the time they started the U.S 73 jaunt the acoustic set was completely dropped. So, no, there has never been an acoustic set for TSRTS . During the UK 72/73 and subsequent European tour, the acoustic section was already minimal: Only Bron Y Aur Stomp survived! Just my two cents, but I think after three years they were tired of pulling out the Habitat chairs and change settings ...especially for just one song. By the time they returned to Earl's Court in May 75, they seemed more than happy to gather round the imaginary camp fire, again 😉 OOPS June72 was first, sorry for this
  17. As Steve already mentioned, Brannon did a great job of comparing most silver releases. 'Florida Sunshine' (and it's subsequent re-releases) features a great mono Soundboard recording, with some of the missing bits filled with the old audience recording. Happy hunting (and a Happy New Year!)🖖
  18. Welcome to this forum, DStaff! options for a good version of Out On the Tiles are limited. The evening show of MSG 1970 and -of course- 'Live on Blueberry Hill ' (the recent Night Owl version is a clear winner). Thank You is represented very well on silver; my favorite is Florida 1971, but you can not go wrong with either the Osaka 929 or Southampton 22 January 1973 or even the MSG 73 encore. All My Love is available from the myriad Tour Over Europe 80 Soundboards...Maybe check out Zürich for really good rendition.
  19. Thanks, Hindenburg ...a pity, since the expensive 'Please Please Me', 'God Save the Queen' editions aren't particularly 'inspired' in the artwork department (like the previous UFO, Night Stalker stuff from EV 👎 I was hoping they would add a little Japanese touch to the 'standard' edition... ah well let's see 😜
  20. This story is known. But it doesn't explain the recent Osaka soundboards. This chap is talking about the source of the old Cellarful of Noise stereo recording (AKA Stage recording, but in reality an on the fly dub of the Warner Pioneer 929 multi track). The new SB fragments are made by the Zep roadies on the band's trusted Revox (like Orlando, Hampton Beach and Toronto) By the way could these be the cover(s) of the standard 3CD version of EV's 928 SB? (found them on: http://ledzepnews.com/2019/12/05/a-new-soundboard-recording-of-led-zeppelin-from-1971-is-on-the-way/ They have the classic blue velvet backdrop which Niwa uses on his Air Raid site (no sign YET of Airaids water mark)
  21. 👍Great, June72...thanks for igniting this 'producer's perspective' in compiling "How the East Was Won" (working title; 'What was and what would never be '). I'm biassed to the WLL medley and Communication B of 929, (but hey, that's just an obese duck's perspective). In an ideal world, the Super Deluxe Edition should include ALL WLL recordings
  22. Like the other June BBC studio tracks, the master tape does contain simple overdubs ('Whole Lotta Love' from the same session, contains a guitar overdub), but it's definetely not a multi-track source in the strict sense. 1" or 2" analog tape gauge would be considered multi-track by the end of the sixties. I believe at the time the BEEB -like the majority of European broadcasting stations, recorded on two track (1/4") or 3 track (1/2") decks. Most likely Jimmy was invited to add some overdubs at his discretion, later on...mainly in the guitar (and vocal?) department😎
  23. hi Neil, IMHO it is a distant and boomy recording. Decent, but not 'excellent' (Nowhere near the quality of the 923 Rock Carnival tape). Check it out. http://starship.jpn.ph/zeppelin/beauty/disp/boot.jsp?R_idx=2578
  24. And what title would that be? The first incarnation of the march 5, 75 Dallas SB (90 minutes only) was released in 89 on CD (Rock Records) and LP (Toasted Condor), During the SB revolution EV released a more complete version of the show. Wendy's Zapruder hit the streets after EV, if memory serves me well.
  25. The first disc of the 'T Tack master' is now available on Black Beauty.
