  1. ^ Roxie, you're far prettier than that chick, hope you can meet him in Toronto.....*Sam?* :shifty:

I was sleuthing about after seeing the Vh1 Q&A of Miss Pam's, and wound up on that FamilyZepp site and I saw that pic Kayte posted. I typed the wrong name up there, it was Sunny not Susan. I could be 100% wrong but it was like a photo mystery I was trying to solve.

    Sunny Griffin.

I was wondering who that lady was that Planty was with! (In the halfstache pic.) I've never heard of Sunny Griffin, but I shall investigate forthwith. He appears to be wearing the same clothes he wore in this pic:

    lz1564.jpg

And I wanna say this was taken in Europe somewhere... (Denmark?)... in 1971?

Oh, and I didn't get that pic of him and his wifey from the FamilyZepp site, but I know which site you're talking about. I try to keep track of where I get some of these pics, but I can't remember where I got that one.

If you save the pics I post, I have notes attached to them. :) Sometimes the URL where I found them. Oftentimes they have goofy tags attached to them, too, and they're sure to weird people out!

  2. jimmyonthewingoftheairplane.jpg

My father always told me you couldn't walk on the wing of a plane, and I so wanted to! He musta said it just to keep me off his plane! Cool pic, though, regardless.

Here's a question that's probably easily answered, but I need help. bucktooth.gif Regarding these two shots...

    lz0039.jpg

    lz0040c.jpg

I thought for a long time they were from the Gold Record Awards shindig on Dec 11, 1969. But the pics don't quite match with those. Behold:

    lz0490.jpg

    lz1534.jpg

So where's the two earlier ones from? Thank you!

  3. I actually wouldn't have thought it was Charlotte, but it was clearly a family event attended by young Jason so I'm sure he wouldn't be hugging a lady friend such as Morganna there. So maybe!

Yeah, he doesn't seem to be hugging a groupie. She isn't groupie-like, anyway, y'know? She's wearing a big corduroy jacket, not, like, y'know, stupid groupie crap. :P

And from a girl's perspective... if Mr. Plant were feeling affectionate enough to draw your face towards his (with those murderer gloves!,) would you really be pouting and giving him a sorta sideways-hug? That's not a groupie hug. Or it's a groupie in an un-groupie-mood.

Plus, most of the pics I've ever seen of Mr. Plant being ornery with groupies usually show him smiling like he ate the canary. 'Cept for that one at Rodney's English Disco, in which case he looks mad.

Since we now know Jason was there that rules out anywhere in the USA prior to '77. Robert's got those gloves on leading me to think it was a cold weather month in UK/Europe, and yet Jason's jacket is off (or about to be put back on). If the woman just arrived from the chilly outdoors it would explain her "crying expression" as someone put it, then again perhaps they are saying goodbye as the band prepares to leave for recording/touring. To me that mural suggests it's some kind of venue though. I'm just speculating out loud...

To continue speculating... could he hunker like that after his car accident? That'd put pressure on your ankle for sure.

I'll go ahead and blurt out the absurd thing I was thinking, even though I'm 99% sure I'm wrong and have nothing to back this with. Maybe it's his sister. Never seen a pic of her. I think she's quite a few years younger than him, and that sorta looks right in the pic. (He's 28-ish or something, and she looks sorta college-aged.) And I kinda see a resemblance... But I dunno. My brother would never hug me like that.

I was gonna google around and see if I could find a pic of her, but I didn't do a very good job because I felt bad searching for her. :( It seems too nosy.

EDIT: Oh! And to help with dating the pic, we gotta remember that phase Mr. Plant went through when he had the bangs in 1976. So this is before or after both his car accident and his bangs period.

  4. The identity of the woman remains unknown, as does the date and location. It looks to be circa early '77 and possibly in London. If we can match the mural that's half the battle.

I have a wild idea about who she is... I'll do some research... Probably won't find anything, but I'll definitely let you know if I do. :D

You guys probably already know this, but he's at the same place in this pic:

    rp0032.jpg

I personally would totally have put this in 1975, although the hair length certainly indicates '77. That scarf's familiar, too.... Anybody gotta Retna account? Then maybe we could read the caption better?

EDIT: Coulda sworn I'd seen that scarf before, but now I can't find it...

  5. Many thanks. Sam, the webmaster posted similar findings some time ago. Thus far I've been unable to confirm the date is correct and what the location is.

Drat. I thought I'd found something unique! Also, I agree with PlanetPage -- it looks later than 1980.

Can anybody gimme sauce on this pic? Who's the lady? Why's she getting so much sugar?

    rp1527.jpg

And is it just me, or does she look like she's been crying? :(

I found this pic (and a buncha other random ones) whilst pretending to be Russian and loitering about ledzeppelin.ru's message board. Hooray for Россия-Матушка!

  6. robertplantss1_storyslide_image.png

He looks SO GOOD now! :o I mean, he looked good before, but that Viking Bob look works swell. And the gray is awesome. What's that thing he's holding? That's the biggest Roman coin I ever seen.

    rp71.jpg

    :o :o :o :o *biting knuckle*

Hrm, I must contribute something... Lemme dig through my Planty stash....

    Untitled-30.jpg

(Click on it to go to the Picasa page... You can see it bigger I think.)

    rp1644.jpg

I'm sorry, but him and his wife are adorable.

    rp1490.jpg

    rp1528.jpg

    All hail the halfstache!

  7. Jimmy Page: Where and When?

    UnknownPage.jpg

I'm trying to confirm where and when the photograph above was taken. The Death Wish 2 film premier has been suggested. The film was released February 19, 1982. I know Jimmy delivered the tapes to the studio in December 1981 and then remained in Los Angeles to devote most of January 1982 remixing and reworking the monaural masters into stereo. It seems unlikely he'd stick around Los Angeles until mid-February for a premier but then again perhaps so...or perhaps it was a UK premier? The soundtrack was released in the UK that month and in the US in March. Anyway, I hope confirmation can be achieved here.

The poster behind Jimmy alledgedly promotes this film released in 1980:

    David-Essex-Silver-Dream-Race-388773.jpg

Did anybody ever get back to you about this? I think I might have a clue for ya... Hang on here...

    Follow this long linky:

    http://www.photoshot...&IMGID=06881163

Description reads: JIMMY PAGE Member of the the British rock group Led Zeppelin. Date 26.03.1980 Ref CTW111608 COMPULSORY CREDIT Starstock/Photoshot.

    :D

  8. c4plant, that pic is hilarious! :o And saved on my hard drive now. I wish I knew more about it. If I come across any clues, I'll post here directly.

In the meantime, I have an easy question -- sorta.

    34q236b.jpg

1973. BUT it's alternately listed as being at the Hyatt in Los Angeles and also somewhere in New York City around the time of their Madison Square Garden performance at the end of the tour. Conflicting captions!

I wanna put my money on California... Is that right?

  9. Did you actually paint those with real paint on a real canvas, Delinha? :o (As opposed to Photoshopping?) Cuz, dang. Amazing!

    my attempt at percy.

Cool! I was thinking about making one of your drawings my desktop background at work. They're cute!

  10. Seeking any information on this photograph. Perhaps it was snapped at home in West Hagley whilst they were preparing to move to the Old Hyde Farm, or at the Old Hyde Farm as they were moving in?

    JohnBonhamChair.jpg

    John Bonham of Led Zeppelin

All I can contribute is another copy of the pic that shows a bit more of him:

    jb214.jpg

And I can't remember where I found it. I believe it was linked out of some mysterious Photobucket into a blog or something. No info accompanying it, though. Sorry. :(

  11. I saw a cheery bumper sticker that says, "It's almost 2012!" There's no indication on the sticker what the person is looking forward to, so I assume he or she is happily anticipating the Mayan prophecy of doom/the end of time/the world/life as we know it on Dec. 21, 2012.

It made me smile, and in rush-hour traffic, that's rare.

 I like that! That's what made me happy today, too! lol

  12. This is not at all meant to be a disrespectful, shit-stirring question, and I haven't returned to this board long enough to know if this is one of those taboo topics, but I'm curious...

Did you ever get any of that witchery to work? I mean, I've never dipped into it myself, but I imagine it's hard to turn someone into a frog without at least resorting to Voodoo, Santeria, Obeah, or something like that; so I'm not talking about incredible, super-warlock kinda tricks. Did your house ever get haunted? I've heard your house can get haunted if you do stuff like that. Did you ever feel like you made any progress in that field? Did you ever feel like, "Crap, this is working!" or do you look back at it and think, "Man. Waste of time?"

Whichever way it goes, you don't need magic and wizardry to play the guitar, so it really don't matter. You stay sexy, Mr. Page.

    EDIT:

They sold songs to Cadillac, something I thought Led Zeppelin would never do.

    And I almost bought a Cadillac! :o

  13. :D very funny , i think this foto is taken from a 70 tv serial "Daktari" its about a bush animal doctor and his family , i liked it a lot as a child back in the 70s the name of the lion is clarence

Oh my gawd. People here know everything! You know the name of the lion! That's impressive. B)

    This from author Howard Mylett:

The only time I saw Robert Plant in his Range Rover was pre show rehearsal Jan 73 at Southampton Gaumont. The feather emblem was definitely on the vehicle as per the Rune symbol. Robert was always friendly and always larger than life - a great character.

    brighton76.jpg

Mr. Jones, you are a resourceful genius!

  14. On page 197 of the book, Led Zeppelin: the Concert File, by Dave Lewis with Simon Pallet, it states that author Howard Mylett was at the soundcheck for the Led Zeppelin show on Sunday, January 21, 1973 and Mylett recalls that, "On arriving in the afternoon, I saw Robert's Range Rover parked outside with its feather symbol on the side".

I realize that this topic may have few replies, however, has anyone read about this before. Even better would be actual pictures of Robert's Range Rover with His symbol on the side. I can imagine such a car and the Image that it portrays in my mind but an actual photo would be even better. Is anyone just as curious as I am to see such a picture?

If I recall, Land Rovers were good vehicles back then -- you could drop a new engine in them pretty easy. (Not the greatest vehicles now...) So he has good taste! Hopefully he took it to Africa or something.

Alas, I've never seen a pic of this, but if I do, I'll know where to post it. :)

  15. I think Jimmy's a handsome fella, but I don't quite fawn over him like some girls do. However, my eye has been attracted to photos of him during one of the Oakland 1977 concerts:

    jp0573.jpgjp0692.jpg

It looks like he's borrowing styles from the old Georgian but more so Regency Era! The "Jane Austen" era. That's the first thing I thought when I saw this.

These eras coincided with the two Georges: George III (whom we slandered very thoroughly in America during the Revolution!) and George IV. This was also the era when Beau Brummel was out influencing all the nobles/royals with his wacky style ideas, as seen here:

    nx0x01.jpg Mr. Brummel hisself.

You remember from pics of George Washington and folks like that that they used to wear breeches, stockings, and high-heeled shoes that look like they're from some old lady's closet. Beau modified it. He actually ushered in the advent of today's suit and tie by using cravats quite a bit. He also lost the stockings, popularized buckskin breeches, and borrowed the Hessian and/or riding boots to replace the old pumps.

    He also raised the waistline:

    jp0534.jpg

Note that when Robert slung his jeans low enough for you to catch a glimpse of his pubic hair, Jimmy (using magic and wizardry!) somehow managed to keep his bell-bottoms high and make it look good!

I wondered... did he borrow purposefully from the ol' Britons of the Napoleonic Era and thereabouts? Perhaps!

    jp0847.jpg

Ha! on everyone who read this far. You were accidentally educated using Jimmy's spellbindingly seductive powers! Mwahahaa!
