I noticed they were playing "Travelling Riverside Blues" at a NFL game the other night. Kind of a unique song to be playing for the situation.

The Who are the closest in talent to Zeppelin. They are an amazing band live (just listen to Live at Leeds). I still think Zep is better though.

Being an Alabama graduate, I always got goosebumps knowing the boys played there. Hopefully, a bootleg shows up one day.

He's also pissed that Jack Bruce and Pete Brown,the guy who wrote the lyrics to a lot of Cream's songs, got most of the money when he's the one who arranged a lot of their great songs (Ex/ he told Bruce to reverse and slow down some riff he was playing to create "Sunshine Of Your Love").

Just watched the fantastic documentary, "Beware Mr. Baker" and Ginger basically trashes Bonzo. "Bonham had technique but he couldn't swing a sack of shit. The same with Moonie. If they were alive today, ask them." Then they cut to Eric Clapton and he scoffs at the idea of Bonzo/ Moonie being compared to Ginger because he claims Baker is a composer and was a fully harmonic musician. The thing I found interesting was he considers himself a jazz drummer and that at one point in his life, he used to shoot up a mix of heroin, cocaine, and LSD. He's totally insane!

Hey Strider, I'm going next Friday night. The only reason I'm going is to hopefully hear CYHMK. I've seen them four times before and it's the only Stones song I haven't heard live and it's my favorite one. Btw, I did do the PPV last Dec. so I know how good this show is going to be.

The video is complete BS but it is very well done editing-wise (the graphics are amazing). You get a feeling the editor or producer was a Zeppelin fan since they used some unpublished music and the looping Kashmir track is a nice touch. The message is dumb though, and obviously some of the info is complete fiction.

I'm not paying the ridiculous amounts they charge to fly and be forced to suck in nasty cigarette smoke because certain people have decided to become addicts. I remember as a kid when they did allow it, you could smell it around the plane PLUS if you had to use the john, they are usually in the back where the smokers sit. I have zero sympathy for them. F the smokers!

There are a ton of guitarists who are technically better than Jimmy, BUT no one plays with his emotion or creativity. That's why he is superior to most players, imo. As for the ragging on Ron Wood, he crushes Keith. I've seen the Stones multiple times live and as much as I love the guy, Keith doesn't offer much in jamming. As a matter of fact, he kinda sucks at solos. He's much more of a riff master. When they are going off, it's Ron Wood who is laying down the sweet spots. Still love the both of them together though. Stones are pretty much always a great show live (except for the 2005 show I went to in Philly. Boring that night!) On a separate note, they have lowered the prices for lower section seats in Philly. They were $280 (with all the fees) and they are now $180 (with all the fees). Lots of seats are available too. Might grab a pair to one of the two shows there.

If I remember correctly, the late Ray Manzarek hated Zeppelin back in the day. Not sure if his stance changed later on, but I could have sworn he had some really negative things to say about them.

Steve, I'm sorry for asking this because I know you spoke about this before. I tried a search to no avail. Here's a two-parter: 1. I know they got back together for the jazz fest in 2001, but what was the real reason for the Page/Plant breakup in 1998? Was it truly Robert no longer wanting to play in big arenas or was there something more to it? 2. Also, any dirt on why the Page/ Black Crowes partnership fell apart? I remember having great seats in Irvine and then the show was cancelled due to Jimmy "really hurting his back bad". After that, there were radio reports of him being seen in clubs in LA looking fine and even worse, two nights later, I watched him jam on Jay Leno with the Crowes and he's dancing around (aka the back was fine). The shows were never rescheduled either. What was up with this breakup? Thanks!

I'm a huge Rush fan and I've seen them live a few times. I have to ask though, what was with Geddy's voice at the HOF show? It seemed like he was intentionally making his voice sound goofy. Was he doing this to mock the HOF? I love his voice live but this was strange. Not sure of what to make of it.

When was Achilles Last Stand written? I know it was recorded for the Presence album in 1976 but you can hear JPJ play the bass line during the theremin solo in WLL at the EC shows.
