  1. Supposed to get somewhere between six and twelve inches of snow tomorrow. TypeO and the rest of you in Southeast US please be super careful. Ice storms are the worst, losing power sucks, but the roads will be absolutely hazardous....
  2. Jonesy, the man who brought us the riff for GTBT, the awesome riff of Black Dog....and now with TCV and other stuff! keep on rockin Jonesy!
  3. Same here and as Anjin-san, we are in the midst of a blizzard like storm.....gawd I'm starting to hate winter.
  4. So did they play HMMT after about 1970, or was it dropped from live shows after 1970 or so? Absolutely brilliant tune!
  5. He gets big points in my book, for being like Plant and (to a less extent) JPJ: always carrying on, putting out new music, continuing to play live whatever the risks may be. He may not be God (obviously he's not, esp not on a LZ forum), but he is an incredibly gifted player. One of the best.
  6. I agree with the posters who came after my little tirade (sorry about that, lol)! I think he's not doing anything other than Zep related stuff because a) he would only do something else with Plant b he is afraid to have another "marginal success" like Outrider or Coverdale/Page c) anything he did couldn't compare to Zep (which Plant and Jones seem to take in stride and say "who cares") I think he can still play, I would love ot have a duet CD, him and other guitar masters on different tracks. Maybe even an interpreted album of the "masters" like Clapton did. But at this point, all we'll keep getting is recycled Zep, which is too bad. As Plant and Jonesy have pointed out, aged though you may be, you can still offer a lot! And yeah as for living to be 90, look at Keith Richards. How that man continues to live is a testament to the old adage "whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger".
  7. As the OP, I feel compelled to explain my original question. Plant has done amazing things with his solo career, Allison Kraus, SSS, Band of Joy, etc. Jones made some really unique and amazing solo albums, produced albums for various artists, did arrangements for artists, TCV, and now the Dave Rawlings Machine (just jaw dropping stuff). Page would appear to be every bit as talented as his former bandmates, but his output has been ... Well... massively underwhleming. Does the world really need the fourteenth remastering of the Zep catalog? So with all that talent, DO SOMETHING. ***ANYTHING*** for Christ's sake. And if you're done, stop blabbing about how you can't wait to play live, and you have new music. Cause let's face it. At this pace, in 2017 you will release the new remastered catalog of Zep, including never before heard digestive noises from the 1973 tour. And yeah, you know it, it will selling massive numbers sadly enough.
  8. The Who had some remarkable albums. But it is Zep that is the more complete experience, IMHO.
  9. LOL! As the OP of this thread, sorry that I give you irritation. Is the Mail the one with the Page 3 woman?? My posting (with the capitals) was more along the lines of "a man with this much talent, thousands of musicians would love to work with him, Jonesy and Plant are doing things, he could do anything at all [instrumental, accoustic, interpretations of classic guitarist songs], etc." With all these possibilities, and to read that JP will be giving us remastered versions of all the previous Zep LPs, with outtakes and what not, just made me think "you're a major league talent JP, you have influenced countless musicians, do *anything* (new)" A few people have pointed out the obvious, he doesn't need to do anything. I agree, but it boggles my mind to see so much talent stuck in neutral for so long.
  10. Snow. Lots and lots of snow! About 12 or 14 inches on my deck, and heavy wet stuff.
  11. I agree with that. The OP was not comparing the two, merely asking if any Zep fans liked the GD. I love someof their extended jams and their musicianship could be pretty encyclopedic.
  12. Either TSRTS, The Ocean, or OTHAFA. I chose TSRTS because I could only pick one. OTHAFA gets honorable mention because the intro guitar part is actually pretty brilliant with a bunch of hammer ons and pull offs (still trying my best to play it, lol)
  13. I'll add to that too! Robert's fast paced singing, the funny chorus, and Pagey's great playing. All in all, a great tune. For someone who was into headbanging at the time, it was a disappointment. As time goes by, and the headbanging hurts too much, your tastes change. Today, I like all of ITTOD. Someone said it here before, "it's such a colorful album".
  14. Unusually mild for December here. We are having a nice 3 day string of 50 degree F days. Yay!
  15. Most of the Trek series had great characters! Of course, Spock on the original, and the interplay between him and Bones. NG: Data and the play with Picard. Voyager: The hilarious Doctor! Haven't seen the reboot movies, I guess I'll have to check it out.
  16. Now there's an awful good shot at a nice fit. Chris Cornell!! Not a Plant imitator, would have been able to be somewhat faithful to the songs, while bringing his own element as a little extra. Tyler (and I'm not a Tyler basher) would have brought his whole persona to the song, and a wee-teeny-tiny bit would have been towards trying to be faithful to the song.
  17. Anyone have any thoughts on Psychedelic Pill?
  18. God, Tyler is so NOT a fit to be singing Zep tunes. He's good in his own right occasionally....
  19. Infidels could have been the most amazing album of Bob's career, until at the last minute he changed some songs out. The album originally had "Blind Willie McTell" and "Foot of Pride". I forget what he substituted for them, but those two songs are some of his best work from the 80s. to the OP: sounds like the book you're getting is an updated "Lyrics" book he published. I think the first went from 1962-1980.
  20. Time Out of Mind is very good. Really, check out the compilations. Biograph probably spent a year in my car, it is just amazing. The Bootleg Series (Vol 1-3) is also incredible! Highway 61 is superb, Blonde on Blonde, etc etc! Would be shorter to give you the "don't get" list! Good luck.
  21. Highway 61, and the outtakes from it, are simply amazing stuff. I agree that Blonde is also an amazing record. Not so much with Slow Train, but just my opinion! (Although I think the production is top notch, and of course, Mark Knopfler's guitar playing on the disc is excellent)!
  22. As the OP of this thread, I have to say I hope Pagey does something! ANYTHING! Instrumental would be awesome. I think Dallas Knebs has it right that the bar has been set so high, the pressure must be incredible on him. I also think he doesn't like playing to small crowds, just my thought. I thought the Coverdale Page stuff was the best work he has done out of Zep. Did I see Jeff beck and Clapton were touring together? Why not invite Pagey along, you'd sell out all over!
  23. Had a very nice roughly 70 degree F day here! Sandy is coming for a visit, and it doesn't sound good....
