  1. Wow fantastic stuff! Thanks for posting it. Maybe the way the Firm should have jammed on the debut album?
  2. Is there any way you can post a link to those songs? I've never had the chance to hear them.
  3. Yeah I know what song from 1966 your talking about, "She keeps me satisfied" or something, and thats why this supposed lost Outrider song made me think because the singing did sound similar to how Jimmy sounded on that 1966 track. Dunno, it could be bogus of course, if I ever manage to find it again I'll try and post a link. Cool deal about the Rockline broadcast! I used to do the same thing, I was a teen in the 80's to and RL would come on after 11 pm (or maybe midnight) here. Would never miss it for though.
  4. IMO The Outer Rider tour was some of Pages best live performances since Led Zeppelin. The album itself was a sharp contrast though. But in all fairness from my understanding Jimmy had planned to do a double album but for some reason the material was "lost" and what Outrider turned out to be was little more than a fancy, stripped demo version by Jimmys own admision. I remember a few years back I came across a video that claimed it was one of the lost tracks from outrider. Im not sure if it was but it did sound like Jimmy on guitars and VOCALS as well! I must admit it sounded great, something that would fit well with P.G. But I'll be damned if I can find it again.
  5. Yeah Easy Does It is killer as is Absolution Blues, dang every time I put that album on I'm blown away. Jimmy sounding as good as ever. I said it before and I'll say it again, although I was in hog heaven that Page/Plant got back together for the two 90's tours and I was able to see them, I ten to one would have rather heard more C/P than the Unledded and WIC albums anyday of the week.
  6. Wow another great song off that album. Coverdale/Page IMO is one of the better overall offerings any of the guys have done post Zeppelin (JPJ has made some fantastic, if not often over looked material as well). Also I think Jimmys Death Wish 2 has some fantstic gems on it to. :]
  7. I remember the 40th Atlantic reunion and although I was thrilled to see the guys on stage again, like you I simply couldnt believe how flat it all came across. So much so that I shuddred at the thought of them recording new music (I still would have sold my soul to see em live either way lol) The reason being is that Zeppelin almost always managed to capture the power of their live performances in the studeo, and if the 40th Atlantic performance was any indication of the energy they would capture for a new recording effort, it would have made for one hell of a slogging album. On the flip side I have got to see and listen to the Outrider tour and what a big contrast! For the most part Jimmy sounded fantastic and often shredded the guitar. I really cant figure out how he could put out such two different performances.
  8. Agreed. Jimmy and Robert were in a rather difficult position in that 1.They were trying to get new projects off the ground, period. that alone can be a chore in any decade IMO. 2. And they were trying to do this in the middle of the "New Wave" and "Hair metal" craze of the time and the type of music these men produce just didnt fit into those schemes (or any scheme for that matter). Therefore a lot of the critics at that time labeled their stuff "outdated" or "rehashed", which of course we know is false. Both Plant and Page went out of their way to make their respective post Zepp projects different from Zeppelin, to the chagrin of many fans I might add lol. Thankfully there were some Led Zeppelin fans who were DJ's at MTV that helped out and not all of the critics knocked The Firm, just most. Seriously I would pay money to see The Firm play live again and I would be curious as to what kind of music they would produce after all these years.
  9. I wouldnt mind at all if The Firm reunited, not in the least. I loved the effort and I think their work is underappreciated in general. Unfortunatly The Firm had the same problem that RP had/has, and thats putting out material that would almost certainly be compared to Led Zeppelin's by both critics and fans, a tough act to follow to say the least. But if you can put aside the urge to do that and listen to the music as it was intended I think you'll discover an intriguing assortment of songs that stand well on their own.
  10. I was there the day it was released, I couldnt wait! Maybe I was different but I was NOT expecting a Led Zeppelin remake at all. The interviews I had read lead me to believe this would be a continuation of what they had done on the UnLedded album and tour, Morrocan/World music mixed into a hard rocking frame work (Something like Pages Domino comes to mind). Needless to say I was quite mistaken. To be honest Im not really sure what they were trying to do with this album. It was neither an atttempt to do a new Led Zeppeling record nor was it a continuation and or expansion of the work they did on Unledded (With the exception of Most High..maybe). But in all fairness IMO it does have some interesting moments, and a few of the tracks were solid, shinning in the light was a good opener. But to my ears most of it fell flat, from the vocals right on down to the guitar work. Not "terrible" by a long shot, just not the level I would expect from these two musical giants. But hey if you liked or loved it thats cool by me, art is very subjective and I wouldnt diss that for nothing.
  11. I remember reading about that. Plant said something to the effect that when he was watching Page on stage and started crying. His daughter asked him what was wrong and he told her he missed playing with Jimmy so much. Very touching indeed.
  12. IMO FON is Plants best overall solo effort.
  13. Ah the memories! The day MTV killed Head Bangers Ball is the day I killed MTV, I've never watched it again (At least in any meaningful fashion). I actually remember this interview. Say what you will about C/P but it did get Jimmy back into the spot light.
