  1. Nothing really, it was kinda of a shit day.But I got some joy out of blowing up some fireworks.
  2. Topic of jazz fusion, eh? Well, I have to say that Miles' album "Dark Magus" is absolutely insane. And Return to Forever is great too, although I wish I had more. I'm soon to listen to Chick Corea's "My Spanish Heart" which I hear is excellent.
  3. This has been a very jazz week for me so far. Listening to lots of Mingus and Coltrane. Might include Davis if I can get some room on my laptop. I listened to the so called great "Mingus Ah Um" and was kinda disappointed, and to me, (so far) The Clown and Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus are the best Mingus albums I've heard. Coltrane? Gonna listen to Sun Ship and Meditations (which is what I have left on here) I might listen to A Love Supreme again. I think that's possibly the best jazz album ever.
  4. Finally done with Clapton's book. This is the first time I've read a book from start to finish in years. I loved it. I learned a lot and I visualized a lot of what was going on in my head. It was pretty cool.
  5. I recorded something today with a virtual piano online and it was just on the fly, and I think it sounded quite nice, but then, I slowed it down and it sounds beautiful, and I feel like I created a song for a film, it's a great feeling.
  6. I shall not lie, I thought Smash Your Head Against The Wall was ok, but on the other hand, I thought Pete's "Who Came First" was a lovely album, and "Empty Glass" along with "All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes" were pretty cool rock albums. I wonder if I should give Roger a listen.
  7. Reading Clapton's autobiography. About to start the chapter known as Cream (chapter 5 if anything) and this is probably gonna be the first book that I've read from start to end (might finish it before weekend is over more than likely) in several years.
  8. I laughed when I was checking out what was in Rolling Stone and saw this article about Alison Krauss and Robert and it said "Beauty and The Beast" I laughed kinda hard, but nobody was looking. I also got a book today which I'm actually gonna read, so yeah. Pretty happy.
  9. I finally got this. My mind was partially fucked.
  10. I'm watching Ratatouille now. I might watch Apocalypse Now again since bigstick's sig has it.
  11. Nah, just referring to a number of people. I don't think I'll watch Across The Universe, I don't care for musicals.
  12. I saw The Love Guru earlier. I laughed a lot, Stephen Colbert was nuts in it. I hate how everybody has to be super picky about every movie that comes out, sure they can't all be perfect, but cut them some slack, eh?
  13. I watched Spider Man 3 this morning while running on an reserve power for my body. First time I've seen it since I saw it in theaters last year. I love emo Peter.
  14. Jack Black? If I had my old glasses, you guys would say I was Jack Osbourne!
  15. I just feel like shit when I see beautiful people.
  16. Thank god nobody said anything about my picture. It's fucking terrible. Good to see a lot of you.
  17. Well, it was confusing and some of it didn't make sense. I think if you like seeing death scenes, you can dig the movie for that, but other than that, there isn't a huge twist. More like a message.
  18. I saw The Happening earlier. Weird as hell.
  19. Had my friend test his camera on me. Bad picture of me, blah blah I'm ugly, blah blah blah
  20. Just got make some people feel bad, don't ya, Al? :'(
  21. Alright, I checked the place and there's no jazz thread. I wonder why? Well, I've gotten into jazz over the past three months and it's amazing me more and more. I've gotten into a lot of the good oldies like Miles Davis, Theolonius Monk, John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus and a few others I can't think of right now. My first jazz album was Kind of Blue (go figure) but it didn't click for me at first, but I listened to Miles' jazz fusion stuff first (In A Silent Way and Jack Johnson) and it was great, but then I decided to give the older jazz a try again and now I love it to death. I really really really love the hard bop jazz albums, but I also enjoy jazz albums like Porgy and Bess by Miles. Ok, cool cats, discuss.
  22. I've been listening to a lot of Santana this week. I've discovered that Caravanseri is one of their best albums. Abraxas gives me goosebumps. Love Devotion Surrender is an underrated gem of jazz fusion. I also need to listen to Lotus sometime soon.
  23. Yay, Jeffie! I fuckin' LOVE Jeff Beck. He is one of my favorite guitarists and my second favorite of the Yardbirds guitarists (take a guess for my #1, and no, it's not Page) and I've heard pretty much all of his albums. Blow By Blow being my first and I've branched towards his first and later works and it's just out there, man. Jeff is one of the top best for me, mainly because of his finger picking style.
  24. That actually became part of the song. Because you can hear it in both "Recorded Live" and "Live at Fillmore East." I think I Can't Keep From Cryin' Sometimes is quite possibly their greatest song, the studio version doesn't seem it, but once you listen to it live, you know then.
