  1. Maybe with pontiac they wanted to release a live dvd performance and felt the need to use camera man for better shots... It's very possible that the houston show was also recorded through cameras from the upper wings that would not be available to the audience.

Would be really cool to have a properly recorded 1973 show indeed. I always thought that Zepp should just take the fantasies out and release a three DVD set with the three MSG shows from 1973.

The whole idea of the fantasies was to fill the gaps in the live footage. The camera crew was rather baked at MSG.

  2. Steve Gorman was to me the best drummer to play with any of the guys after Bonzo died. He has more feeling and swing than Michael Lee or Jason.

Jason was the best choice for the reunion though, because it is just so mythical and fitting to Zep to have the son of the old master pick up his fathers sticks.

  3. 12 string neck for TSRTS, 6 string neck for Rain Song. Me and my buddy kinda assumed that's why they didn't segue into into it, but then wondered how they did it in the old days. First viewing of Celebration Day gave us the answer.

Per the op, I think the Les Paul and the downtuning added alot to Kashmir, just really crushing. No idea which guitar he's used on it through the years, but I've always liked the heavier versions.

I was surprised to see him use the Transperformance gizmo to switch to an open tuning during Whole Lotta Love. Cool touch though.

    Kashmir was not tuned down.

Jimmy's been using the Transperformance on Whole Lotta Love since at least 1999 on his tour with the Black Crowes.

By the way, though I like the Danelectro there's no denying that the guitars he used to replace it at the O2 were both far superior.

  4. There are some who say the ARMS shows pretty much saved Jimmy. After Zeppelin ended he kinda locked himself up at Plumpton and was struggling with his addiction; then Clapton, Beck and friends took him out to play and he went out there again and started to deal with the addiction a bit better.

  5. I don't really buy the first answer.

I tend to disagree with the second, mainly because of this:

    rac·ism (rszm)

    n.

    1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

    2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

You didn't answer my most important one so I won't bother you with it.

And I would like to apologise for the wording of my first post: I dislike Christianity, not individual Christians.

Edit: I saw you replied to the last one now, was to eager-typing to wait for your edit.

  6. One question about the "7 Million Christians slaughtered by Nazis". I don't want to sound ignorant but I have no clue what you're talking about.

I'd also like to know when Christianity became a race, or where you learned the definition of rascist.

My last and most important question is: So if Christians have suffered as well as other people, how does that make their own crimes less evil?

  7. Hi Z-o-S-o,

There is a fairly recent video here, if you're interested:

    http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/18214-jimmy-page-donates-a-guitar-and-plays/

Oh thanks, missed that because I wasn't on here for a month. I would say he looks a bit frail and way to tanned but there's not really much to say about the guitar playing is there? It's a simple piece and he effortlessy plays it without doing anything special I would say.

  8. I think the reason JP doesnt play live anymore is obvious...... Obvious from the performance at the reunion gig.... obvious from the latest vid of him playing kashmir on acoustic.....

His playing at the O² in 2007 was pretty good actually. Sure the solo in Stairway was short and sure there was a mistake or two but who cares if you get a free Tea For One 100% brilliant typical Jimmy Page balancing on the edge solo in SIBLY and an amazing TSRTS.

The only vid I know of him playing an acoustic Kashmir is from 1989 and pretty decent BTW.

  9. ^^^ I was about ready to say that it's from May 18, 1977 because of JPJ in the white outfit, Page in the full Poppy suit, Plant in the red jacket, white towel on the full stack of Marshall cabinets with 2 bottles, positioning of the stage right overhead drum mics... but then it looks like most every date in late May/early June 1977. It would be nice to see if there were other pics to see the power amp racks all in a row or what Bonzo was wearing.

Looks like a rather small stage for a '77 show. Could that help?
