Stumbled by mere coincidence upon the vinyl copy of Lifes Rich Pageant on amazon.com
I didn't hesitate for a moment and clicked Add to Cart / Proceed to checkout
Although it was rather pricey at 31$ plus shipping, I didn't buy the previous 25th anniversary edition which costed about the same, so this is how I rationalised the splurge.
Now I just have to buy a turntable. And find other rational arguments to persuade the CFO whose office is in the right side of my brain.

Led Zeppelin release the single "Fool in the Rain" with "Hot Dog" as the B-side.
"This song was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts, as it was heavily studio-based. The piano was quite necessary in the song, but with John Paul Jones on piano, there could be no bass. There is also a twelve-string guitar line at one point in the song and the guitar solo that has to be pulled off. However, on 5 October 2005, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant performed the song with Pearl Jam at a Hurricane Katrina benefit show." (wikipedia).

"The project was also a major departure in musical direction for John Paul Jones, playing a mixture of funk, jazz, r&b, and soul for the recording, during the year long absence from touring Led Zeppelin undertook in late 1973 and throughout 1974. "Individually, Robert Plant takes over from Yes's Jon Anderson as Top Male Singer, while Jimmy Page supplants Yes's Steve Howe as Top Guitarist and replaces Genesis and David Hentschell as Top Producer".

Led Zeppelin finish recording of their seventh studio album.

"After a month of rehearsals, the album was recorded in just 18 days at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany, with Plant in a wheelchair. This was the fastest recording turnaround time achieved by the band since their début album. The rushed recording sessions were in part a result of Led Zeppelin having booked the studio immediately prior to The Rolling Stones, who were shortly to record songs for their album Black and Blue. Upon their arrival, the Rolling Stones were amazed that Led Zeppelin's album had indeed been completed (both recorded and mixed) in a mere 18 days. Jimmy Page had simply stayed awake for two days straight to perform all of the guitar overdubs."

At least two of their recent songs are New Orleans-related: Houston and Oh my Heart! They're both lyrically and musically connected, to the extent that the second song is actually a sequel to the first.
During his stay in New Orleans, Michael Stipe took photographs of singer Patti Smith, who contributed vocals to Collapse into Now, the album they were recording in that studio (other recording took place in Berlin).
I would have wanted an opportunity like you had, to meet them in a studio setting. I think it's a different experience, meeting your favourite musician, after a live show in a small venue maybe, versus meeting them in a studio.
It's probably an idealisation, the way I see musicians in a studio, inputting various ideas towards a common creative goal and the body of work rapidly evolving into finished choruses, intros and finally 3 or 4 minute songs. That's the ideal.

Led Zeppelin signs to Atlantic Records.
Wikipedia's recounting of the event: "on November 23 Atlantic issused a press release announcing the signing of the band to an exclusive five-year contract, one of the "most substantial" in the label's history; although not disclosed at the time, this included an advance of $US200,000. The band recorded directly for Atlantic Records from 1968 to 1973."

Warner Home Video launches a re-issue of The Song Remains the Same on DVD, HD DVD and Blu Ray disc. Also, the soundtrack to the film is re-issued. Surviving band members oversaw the remixing and remastering of 1976 album (wikipedia).

In this interview with Uncut magazine circa 2009, John Paul Jones talks about the former band manager:
"Peter was a very sensitive man. He was a very, very smart man. People just think of his size and his reputation, but actually he never had to use his size. He could out-talk anybody, you know. And I think [he and Jimmy] got along intellectually. They both had this great love of art, as well. Art deco, art nouveau… that whole sort of period. They used to spend a lot of time touring antique shops together when we were on the road. They were both collectors. So yeah, they had a lot of things in common. I know Peter trusted Jimmy’s vision. When Peter trusts you, he doesn’t question you. He just decides that you’ve got the right idea, so he’s going to put all his resources behind you. And that’s what he did with Jimmy and with Zeppelin.”

Led Zeppelin receive Q magazine's "Merit Award" at the Park Hotel in London. Plant, Page, Jones and Jason Bonham attend.
"(Our songs) were created in the least amount of time and often with the greatest amount of laughter and I think that's what this award is for, for having a ridiculously crazy time", said Plant.

Still at the Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, Led Zeppelin record the song "All my Love". It's track #6 of In Through the Out Door.
"In an interview he later gave to rock journalist Cameron Crowe, Plant stated that this song was one of Led Zeppelin's "finest moments". However, guitarist Jimmy Page has expressed less fond sentiments for the song." (wikipedia)

Led Zeppelin record the song "Darlene" at the Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. The song was left out of In Through the Out Door.
A few notes from the wikipedia page of the song:

"The end of the track includes a lyrical nod to "American Pie" by Don McLean. "With a pink carnation and a pickup truck."
"This is the only song from the In Through the Out Door sessions which was credited to all four members of the band. It was never played live at Led Zeppelin concerts".

"Ozone Baby" is recorded at the Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. "It was one of three songs recorded at Polar Studios which were omitted from In Through the Out Door and later released on Coda" (wikipedia).
"Ozone Baby" is a straightforward, up-tempo rock song, featuring some harmonised vocal effects from singer Robert Plant. Few Led Zeppelin studio songs included harmonised vocal effects, but it had been increasingly utilised by Plant in live performances from 1977 onwards. Despite this, "Ozone Baby" itself was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts."

The Royal Swedish Academy of Music (KMA) announces that the 2006 Polar Music Prize has been awarded to Led Zeppelin and Russian composer Valerij Gergiev.
The Prize, first conferred to Paul McCartney in 1992, is awarded "for significant achievements in music and/or musical activity” (wikipedia).
It is delivered by His Majesty, the King of Sweden and includes 1 million Swedish kronor. On this day it has been announced that the Polar Prize ceremony is to take place in May 2006.
