  1. i like a lot of what's been mentioned.
  2. i love all their songs. but am not a worshiper. their real magic? they opened a breathing hole in the canvas of that periods increasingly smothering popular scene. in the hairspray motorcycle fume smogged atmosphere they were a breath of fresh air. have to give much credit to the talent scout that signed them to geffen and to dave grohl for solidifying the band's sound and direction. and to all the weak boring poser bands that made the hunting so easy for a band with an once of integrity and rawness to come in for a kill. as to his suicide, i respect him in his decision. there's worse things that can happen to a person, such as your thirties.
  3. happy? what is "happy" anyways? knowing you'll never notice you crapped all over yourself till you wake again? returning home from a rough day on the job to witness your rude next door neighbor wheeled out by paramedics with a sheet covering their entire body? well i jut dont know about this happiness stuff then... joking or wishing aside, what made me happy. let's see. i made some tea. i like tea only if it has honey in it. i ran out i only thought i ran out. i found a old bottle with just a dab in it on a shelf. i was happy as a homeless person finding a freshly stocked mcdonalds dumpster. if they did today they probably ate a lot better than you or i did today and that doesn't seem right. it'd be nice to have nothing to do but eat free mcwaffles all day occasionally, with a little gin and smokes and free music blasting out of a store behind you as you sit on a bench bitching and complaining to yourself as a person with 12 deadlines scurries angrily along by you to his 5 figure job stale coffee and impending heart attack...
  4. started listening to them when i was around 11. this older guy had a rock music collection he let me take home we sold our souls for r n r. live evil and the eternal idol. i instantly loved the first era stuff. had a hard time listening to live evil. eternal idol sounded tiered to me. for a long time the ozzy era was the real deal for me not just because of him but because of bill, tony & geezer and the overall sound of the material itself. i later got into heaven and hell/mob rules era. sabbath's another band ingrained into the fabric of my life. i grew up kinda poor. in the winter there wasn't enough heat to heat my entire house. i remember opening vol 4 putting it in for the first time . it was like 15-20 degrees . the sound of the album along with steam coming out of my mouth as i sat bundled up made an impact, very frigid. didn't sabbath and zep members used to hang out and jam on occasion? i hear tony iommi has a few tapes under lock and key..
