Well  the biggest fighting if you will was between Frey and Felder.   Henley said in response to Felder wanting more vocals, "its like me playing lead guitar on Hotel California".  How can you argue with that statement?  You can't.  Henley is a great great artist.  Timothy B Schmidt is a great artist and he never "rocked the boat" nor did Joe Walsh who is also a great artist but he came right out and said "I could never write songs like Don and Glenn".  I think "Get over It" from Hell Freezes Over was likely partly directed at Felder?  Maybe not?  But make no mistake about it, Henley and Frey were the Eagles for the most part.  The masterminds behind the success.

He likely did it thinking that it would have been Glen's wish?  But I am not sure.  I still love Don Henley, and Felder too.  I also love Timothy B Schmidt who is fabulous.  Its very sad news to know Glen is now gone.  I never saw Glen leaving us this early

Sorry Rick but I think you'll find that Jackson Browne wrote "Take it Easy".

Oh I realize that.  I m only saying it was the right things to do and I am happy he has no ill feelings.  Or at least is not showing them like Felder who I can understand.

With regards to them being America's greatest band, you may have a very good point. I was going to throw Creedence Clearwater Revival into that discussion, but then I remembered that they were in essence a solo act. ;)

Sure Creedence deserves a ton of respect, I imagine you are referring to Fogarty?  Lambda Leap is on the same page as me.  They were the greatest American band ever and I do not think its even close.  I will put Allman Bros and Skynyrd on my top 5 and maybe throw in Aerosmith and the Beach Boys for sure.  But the Eagles to me are the best American band ever.  The first greatest hits album is simply fabulous and then along comes Hotel California.   To me that guitar solo with Walsh and Felder was magical.  Henley is one of the best vocalists of all time.  Jackson Browne did a great job doing Take it Easy in Glen's memory.  I think Don Henley was thinking, what am I doing here with all this rap shit being played around me?

Well said. A great loss for sure.

I'm trying to see my favorites every chance I get. It's honestly the best way to show our appreciation for them while they are here. I'm so glad to have seen him with the Eagles even though it was expensive.

Finally going to see Peter Gabriel this summer.

Henley and some others will be at the Grammy's coming up and I am taping it.  There will be a tribute to Glen Frey and David Bowie also

It was a bad shock. I knew he was scheduled to/possibly already had surgery for intestinal problems, but he'd had that at least twice before and recovered. He was in the hospital since October, often in a medically-induced coma, and yet no one outside of his inner circle knew. Hard to believe he's gone; Glenn was such a vital character.

Well said.  The above poster says the History doc turned him off and I get it.  But it was more between Frey and Felder.  Henley made a great point on Felder trying to sing more.  He said, "its like me trying to play lead guitar in Hotel California".  Well put!  I am still pretty shocked that Glen has left us.

Ah, the Eagles. Phenomenal supergroup with a troubled legal history that long since blew Pink Floyd's into the court room weeds. Frankly the often petty nature of their spats amuse me (as did Floyd's) but their studio output in the mid '70s was as terrific as the sales figures suggest. I was sorry to hear about Glenn Frey, another dark notch on quite possibly rock's saddest ever month.

I am having a hard time dealing with Frey's sudden death and I had no idea he was sick.  I love the Eagles.  Love them.  Greatest American band ever.  Period.  Glenn will be missed by many and me included.  I was lucky enough to see them twice live.  Fabulous.  Songs like Hotel California and Peaceful Easy Feeling an Take it Easy will live forever.

  8. Did anyone see Henley say he could not hit the drums as hard as Bonham?  Or hear Frey say "I can't believe I am going to get to play where Led Zeppelin recorded Rock n Roll".?  They had tremendous respect for Led Zeppelin.  The Eagles were one of the best American bands of all time and IMO the best.  I always loved groups like the Beach Boys and America too.  To me the Eagles were top notch.  The guitar solo in "Hotel California" is to me the second best of all time next to Stairway.

  9. The History if the Eagles has been on often this past week.  Its a must see in my opinion.  Joe Walsh says he never could have written the quality songs that Frey and Henley wrote.  There is the full disclosure of the fighting between Frey and Felder, and Frey and Henley and Walsh all have their turn at narrating the stories.   Lots of old shot from the 70s as well as shots of their reunion days of post 1993.

"Turn up The Eagles, the neighbours are listening!" - Steely Dan

Seriously though, I think '94 in general was the year concert tickets started getting out of hand. I'm not sure what the US/CAD conversion was in 1994 but when we saw Pink Floyd in Edmonton (where I proposed to my wife) tickets were $48. Shitty concert too, as it turned out- best thing about the night was my wife saying yes...

Frey was a decent musician and a great songwriter, not necessarily a great person, but then you could say that about a LOT of artists.

The prices in 93 to see them were high but worth every penny when compared to so many shit bands that are charging huge prices.  Some I would not walk across the street if you paid me to see them.  The Eagles were a super group.  I remember when I first bought Hotel California when it was released on vinyl.  I loved their greatest hits album, a fabulous collection.  Songs like Take It Easy, Desperado, Take it to the Limit, Lyin Eyes, Tequila Sunrise etc were all big even before "Hotel" came out.  Joe Walsh made a tremendous impact and the second phase of the Eagles flight was born.  Like Pink Floyd they had their in house problems that were very big.  Timothy B Schmidt was tremendous on Hell Freezes Over, a great album/video that is a must hear/see.  A different version of Hotel California with the acoustic opening.  "The Girl from Yesterday" was one of Frey's vocal's on the album and it was very good and he labeled it a country song before performing it.  I never liked straight up country but any song done by the Eagles would be an exception. I also loved many songs by America who were a very good band and the 2nd band I ever saw live after seeing Jeff Beck just before.  They were not in the same league as the Eagles though.  The Eagles to me are the best american band ever.  And sorry, that includes Lynrd Skynrd who I also loved.  I am quite shocked that Glen passed.  Its a real loss for music.

  11. The news of Glen Frey's passing is terrible for me.  I have always been a huge fan.  They are on my all time top 5 with LZ, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd for sure.  Take it Easy was the first song I ever learned on the guitar.  I saw Frey appear on a Sports talk show last April.  I think he  had to have had problems for some time.  I am guessing the pneumonia is what finally did him in?  It truly sucks.  It is officially the end of the Eagles all be it Don Henley is a monster by himself.  Glen Frey left his mark on music forever.  His songs are classic and will live forever.

    R.I.P.  Glenn Frey.

    I'm another huge Eagles fan.

We saw them just last year and their voices were still amazing.

It's been a very sad year so far :(

OMG!!!!!!!  How did I miss this?  I am a huge Eagles fan also.  Saw them twice, and in 2003 in Buffalo.  This is terrible news

  13. I have won a Canon Rebel EOS for my wife and I must say we are quite excited with this.  I think we will get a tripod soon.  We took a class and learned much on the use  of various setting on this beast of a camera.  I am into taking shots of wildlife, birds especially and landscapes.  I may also try a few of the night sky when its possible.  In my area its not that often

  14. Well snow has finally arrived in upstate NY in a very strange winter, the strangest in my life.  Looking out the backyard its nice to see my Cardinals have returned to my feeders with my Woodpeckers too.  I have like 5 feeders out between house feeders and suet.  6 squirrels in my tree and many birds that come regularly including George, a Cardinal I have named.  In the summer the Goldfinch's will return.

  15. Well I finally have my Macbook Pro.  13" will have to do.  I cannot believe how light it is.  But Its going to replace this HP Pavilion that is on its final days.  I was talked into buying Apple care for it.   With the Webroot anti-virus which I added to this also.  I have more setting up to do on it.  Just added Flash player and have I Cloud set up.  I think I am pretty much done now.  I have my Taylor, my Smith and Wesson and now my Apple.  What else is there except to travel?  Or hit the Power Ball:lol:  In my dreams.

PS, how could I forget to tell I have also the Canon Rebel EOS that I won online.  We went to a camera class Sunday at Best Buy.  Fabulous.  This camera is impressive to say the least.  My wife is the real user  of it.

  16. I have the Apple I-5.  I am going to walk out of best buy tomorrow with a Mac Pro.  13 " with retina display.  Sick of HP fucking going South on me.  I am going to use this one til it dies, which wont be too long as the screen is having issues that come and go.  I still prefer the I-5 to the 6 because the 6 is too large.

  17. Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays. All the best for 2016.

Time to finish my shopping, lol.  :santa:

(Found this old artwork I did about 10 years ago for the website intro on the l-z.com site.)

  18. As Woody Paige likes to say: LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE!!! The game was at Georgetown not the Carrier Dome, Yukon! I hope you let your wife do most of the navigating. :P

Well Mr Wise guy my only reply will be, your Raiders SUCK

  19. My daughter and her husband were in from the Big Apple and I picked up a bottle from Napa Valley.  Fransiscan.  Oakville Estates, 2012.  Very good Cabernet.  While at liquor store a couple from Detroit and I were talking about the Lions meltdown and then about some wine.  They have ICE Wine and I had never seen or heard of it.  She says its from grapes harvested after the first frost and is very good.  One starts with an I, and is if I see it I will know the name. I intend on buying it the next trip there which will be soon.  The California reds have all gone up about $5 a bottle.  Likely due to the fires out there
