  1. Nice hearing from you Mercedes, glad you're checking out the forum again. Also want to tell you how much I appreciate your status updates on Facebook, love your sense of humor & they always make my day!! Take care and see you around, either here or there.

    ~ Becky

  2. My condolences on your loss. Charlie must have been an awesome brother!

  3. Did it ever!! Which makes me happy that we installed central air conditioning a couple years ago even though we need to use it only one or two weeks per year. Also happy that we're on a private well so I don't feel guilty for watering the yard several hours per day.
  4. Rush Announces their 2010 North American "Time Machine" Tour
  5. Hey Spalove ~~ I meant to write you some time ago to say "congrats" on the Na No Wri Mo (is that right?) word count. My daughter is doing that too, she loves to write & is great at it. Bet you are too!

    Have a great week,

    ~~Becky

  6. So glad to hear your CT scan results show NOOOOO cancer, that's great news dzldoc. Yay you!!! What does your vanity plate read? I've had "BOCELLI" for many years but since I never listen to his CDs anymore I'm ready for a change. Something to do with Rush as I can NOT stop playing them -- no matter how hard I try. Stay healthy!
  7. You have my heartfelt sympathy on your loss, ally. I understand what you mean by it being an honor to be at her side when she took her last breath. And I'm sure that having you all there made her passing a more peaceful one. There will be a time to mourn and a time to look back on the many ways that she has enriched your lives. Take care ~~ Becky
  8. That does sound like the swine flu. From what I've read it's the headaches that differentiate it from the regular flu. But like you said, at least now you have immunity. Best wishes to you and to your son's family.
  9. I caught that ledded1 and it sounds very much like the kind of joke I would make. We think alike because just a couple of days ago I saw that same picture in your signature (Mad magazine/Mona Lisa) and was contemplating using it as my avatar. You beat me to it LOL. Sounds fabulous, where was the show? Dare I ask -- do you think YES will ever reform or is this rift permanent? I saw an outdoor concert of Tears for Fears last night. It was short but sweet, only an hour's worth of their greatest hits which are the only ones I know. Seems I was the only non-diehard fan there. The night before last my family attended the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy with the Seattle Symphony and it was really nice. Seems I was the only one over 30 years old at that.
  10. My horoscope this morning said I would be coming into some unexpected money today. I don't really believe in astrology & such things but thought "what the heck, let's have some fun, put this thing to the test" and headed to a nearby casino. Played the slots for two hours and came home a thousand dollars richer! happy smiley face.
  11. Precisely! And that's what makes it "good" memories. It's the ones that I can remember that make me cringe.
  12. Had a nice phone chat with one of the members of this forum today. And now you guys have me thinking about wild turkey which brings back some good memories.
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. Pete Townsend!!!! 64 candles on the cake today. And I only know this because they kept mentioning it like every 10 minutes on the local classic rock radio station. LOL Cheers
  14. Great idea about the ice cream truck. I'm having a senior moment......what is an GCSE? Wonderful moments to be cherished. Did you, and will you, get lots of pictures? Glad to hear you are able to enjoy food again (and keep it down). It's a sign you're on the road to recovery!! It was a GREAT season of Survivor this year, one of the best since I've started watching it. JT definitely deserved to win the million bucks.....I wish someone else could have gotten the $100,000 though. And what do you think of Coach? Was his story of being captured by head-hunting Amazon natives truth or fabrication??? What a character he is, very entertaining.
  15. "Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon You're a very good parent. I do the same with my 14 yo daughter. She really surprised me this week when she said her current favorite Zep song is "In the Evening", because it's one of the lesser known songs. She's been into glam rock for a long time now; can't get enough of Queen or David Bowie. And she is as fanatical as I am about Rush and Pink Floyd. So, to paraphrase the Bible, "parents, train the child unto the path they should go and they will never depart from it" ......is what we're doing. eh?
  16. Babs gave you the funny answer so I'll just say that I'm happy it's not so serious to call for surgery. Still, it sounds like you're in a lot of pain. Hope you recover fully and it doesn't return.
  17. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night And I like it from the first listen, which is saying a lot because so often new (to me) music has to "grow" on me.
  18. Ninelives~~thanks for the positive strokes, it helps a lot in staying "quit" Mandy~~beautiful cakework (cake + artwork), is that a word or did I just make it up? Especially love the freezing one. Buck'eye'Doc~~you have a slice of paradise! Like redrum, I received something in the mail today too. A set of Gumby and set of Totoro pinback buttons that I'd ordered from Etsy.com. They are soooo cute. Still waiting for other ones I've ordered, various religious icons. Don't know yet how I will use them, on some type of knit or sewn craftwork.....any suggestions?
  19. Nice looking home, Buck'Eye'Doc; I love that color. Is it an aqua or sea-green shade or does it just come across that color on my monitor? Happy to see Dzldoc back "home". Happy that I found some Cappucino-flavored Commit logenzes today. (a stop smoking aid) And happier still that I don't even feel the need to use them. But I'll continue to use them for the full 12 weeks they suggest, as it's only been 5 weeks since I quit and I don't want to get over-confident. That is what has killed cessation programs in the past for me. Once you think you've really got it licked the little guys will taunt you & say that "just one won't hurt". Not this time!
  20. If Plant is the Cowardly Lion, does that make Leno the Tin Man, what with his silver head and delivery of lines???
  21. Hope it's not against forum rules to post this: If anyone has a Blu-Ray DVD player, I'd like to send you my unplayed Snakes & Arrows disc. I received it as a gift, can't watch it since we don't have a player and hate to see it sitting on the shelf.
  22. Wow, that is a unique song for skaters! Was it Zeppelin or an instrumental/orchestral version?
  23. to beatbo~~Thanks for that post on Pete Townsend! Like Rick, I don't normally read long posts like that one, but read every word this time. I'm glad his 5 years on the SO list is over & done, I believe Pete. It seems his main offense was being a little stupid and a lot naive in going about his research on child porn/abuse. "Research" is actually a healthy way in dealing with one's childhood traumas, as Pete thinks happened to himself....he just didn't go about it the right way. And I realize that the experts in all those agencies say that many of the pedophiles & abusers use "research" as an excuse, but then that makes me wonder if any of those same experts aren't guilty of the same thing.....using their job/position to get at the child porn. So I try to just have faith in, and believe the best of, people until they prove otherwise. to JethroTull~~Yes, Yukon is Rick, not Joel. Not that it matters because I've found them both to be very nice, helpful, informative guys who are fun & enjoyable to talk to, unless they get provoked to wrath by idiotic morons. (will probably get put on quite a few shit lists for that statement!) to all~~Did anyone else watch the Kennedy Center Honors? I loved the tribute to Daltry & Townsend, especially the woman who did Love Reign O'er Me. Jack Black's speech was both funny & moving, it nearly had me in tears. Until the camera panned over to President Bush and he was giving one of those monkey looks of his, that took away from the moment, LOL.
