  1. Their only psychedelic song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlZ2GekjeEk
  2. This is the only mention of the Nassau Coliseum in Cole's book: "When the 1975 tour reached New York for six concerts at Madison Square Garden and the Nassau Coliseum, we parked ourselves at the Plaza Hotel. For Jimmy Page, his suite at the Plaza was much too pretentious, “something comparable to the Versailles Palace,” he complained. John Bonham really didn’t care whether his suite was gaudy or austere; in fact, as long as there was a pool table in his room (which he always had in New York and Chicago), he could do without just about everything else, including running water."
  3. Paul McCartney has declared Jamerson as his biggest influence. Both JPJ and McCartney started their careers roughly at the same time, so I think if McCartney had access to Motown recordings, JPJ did too. I think he was asking about Celebration Day. Since it's a commercial album released on a record label, I don't think any cash generated by its sales went to the fund.
  4. I don't think so. It's an official commerical release. Well, Jamerson played on most of the Motown recordings in the 60s and the early 70s.
  5. The reason I'm asking this is that JPJ sounds very Jamerson-influenced to me. Maybe you recall an interview where he talks about his influences?
  6. Thanks. Sorry for asking too many questions, but have you ever come across JPJ talking about James Jamerson?
  7. HUGE thanks for this technical info. As for the video, I don't understand what sound is coming out of the amp at exactly 3:46-3:49. Sounds like an overdub but it isn't one.
  8. Are you thiking that they did the soundcheck on the 7th but not on the 6th? I don't think so. I think it's pretty much a given that the soundcheck did happen on the 6th, and also I think that it did not happen on the 7th. There was no reason for the band to do another one since they'd done it a day earlier.
  9. Can anyone explain to me what Page is doing from 3:44 to 3:51?
  10. What are you referring to? I've heard that story but always though it was a rumor.
  11. I don't think so. Why would they have two soundchecks in two days at the same arena?
  12. It couldn't have been 1975 because the song had already been finalized and recorded by that time. The song was actually recorded in January-February 1974, which means that the soundcheck version is definitely from before early 1974. I still think it's 6 July 1973.
  13. Thanks, Steve. Do you know whether the tapes of the original Sugar Mama recording exist? If yes, then I think it'll be featured in the box sets.
  14. Steve, do you know anything about Strawberry Jam? When was it written and who's the main songwriter? Also, did the band at least attempt to record it in the studio?
  15. I didn't say he's a bad drummer or anything. I just think he's far below the drummers you listed in terms of greatness.
  16. Everyone except for Dave Grohl and Buddy Miles.
  17. I'm impressed. You just listed some of my favorite drummers. Ginger Baker is one of the greatest.
  18. I agree. As a drummer, he's much better than Mitch Mitchell, for example.
  19. This project reminds me of those gazillion Zep tribute bands. THe only difference is the inclusion of Jason.
  20. Are they pulling a Led Zep tribute band? We've had enough of those.
