  1. Nope. As you can see in the colour photo, Bonham is playing the drums so it's obviously during a song, while the b & w photo is during Jimmy's solo segment.

The more important detail to note in the b & w photo is the camera says "Opryland Productions". If someone can track down whether the company still exists or a former employee, then maybe we can find out some answers.

They operate out of Nashville. This has surely been beaten to death, as it is the only real clue we have regarding Pontiac video.

  2. What about the guy who walks on stage, reaches down by Jimmy's feet then walks off? What was that about?

    This guy?

I'm pretty sure this is Roy Harper. If you watch the part right before this, the cameraman steps on Jimmys WAH pedal at 14:40. Jimmy walks over and turns it off at 14:48. I would assume Harper came on stage because the cameraman was getting close to the WAH again.

  3. ICBW cause I wasn't there but, I think the reports of Jimmy's disconnection from the album are greatly exaggerated.

This. According to Jones, he and Plant had such an influence on the album because they got to the studio early and wrote/worked out a couple of songs. Page and Bonzo jumped in to help flesh out Plant/Jone's songs when they got there. Not to say that Page was in great shape, but it's definitely exaggerated.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with "Fire"

  4. If the O2 show never took place, I wonder if many of you would still pick "Good Times Bad Times" as your favorite album opener...

    I doubt that very much.

"Good Times Bad Times" is my second choice, and it's not because of the O2. GTBT is an amazing album opener, especially for the first album. A killer riff and groove, blistering solos, awesome bass runs, and let's not forget Bonzos bass drum (which still blows me away). Something totally different than what was happening in 1969.

I chose "Whole Lotta Love", mostly because LZ II is my favorite album.

  5. I've spent entire days watching Beavis and Butthead, the Simpsons, or King of the Hill. :P

NCIS marathons are hard to escape, especially with the way they start.

Speaking of the Simpsons, there's a 12 day marathon on FXX right now...every Simpsons ever. They are on day 6 or 7 I think.

  6. He mumbles on the 27th (the date the vocals are from), on the 28th he clearly says "gentle", and on the 29th he mumbles again and says it a couple of times - sounding more like "gentle" to me. Gentle and devil sound similar, so it's pretty much what you want to hear rather than what he actually says.

I've always sung it as "different"

  7. 2. I like the segment between Jonesy and Bonzo when They are both facing each other and Jonesy plays a note and Bonzo shakes his head in disagreement (at the 6.04 mark) and then Jonesy slightly raises His hand to Bonzo and then Henry does a quick drum beat and Jonesy shakes His head in approval. This 10-15 seconds of actual filmed interaction between the two, somehow seems to Me to Epitomize the relationships between 2 of the Best Musicians of All-Time.

My absolute favorite part of the whole movie.

  8. (On a more cheerful note - who knew that Jimmy and JPJ shared the same postcode ? What an opportunity for collaboration ! And I'd heard it was Robbie Williams moving in next door to JP....

Page and Jones are listed at the same address. Whomever attempted to black out the addresses did so poorly.

  9. This soundcheck is very cool. Tt's nice to hear them just messing around, The Rover, Night Flight, the Elvis and Chuck Berry stuff.

One clue that this would be from '73 is the fact that JPJ is playing the organ, they didn't have an organ in '75 (the year that some people think this is).

  10. $300 is alot when you have signed a two year contract IMO. I know you can get a smart phone for far less with the 2 yr contract, which you basically have gun held to your head to sign up for. anything less is a rip off.

It is a lot, but at the time it was (and still might be) the newest model...so you have to take that into consideration. It retails for well over $900 without contract.

  11. The cost of a new smart phone can be quite staggering. With AT&T when our two year contract is up, they will give you a discount on a new phone. Sometimes the older models of smart phones (iPhone 4, Galaxy S III) can be had for $100, $30, and even down to $1. The catch is, you are committing to a new two year contract.

The Galaxy Note III cost me $299 with a 2 year contract.

Something else you have to think about is data usage. I'm lucky in that I have a grandfathered in unlimited plan, nowadays there are no "unlimited" plans.
