Whats the movie about ?
If you go to a movie review site, e.g. IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, you can get a synopsis and both critic and customer reviews.

Am I one of the very few Zep fans that LOVE "Hot Dog"? Such a catchy tune with awesome guitar work., especially the riffs after the verses.
There are more than a "very few".

truth and beauty, that is a good one. I like the effect of the lighting on Jimmy's face, hair and even his clothes. I think those are clothing fibers on his left shoulder.

Same here!
I must admit I'm a more recent one, got hooked about 5 years ago while going through a rough time with a illness (which is long term ) One day when I was feeling a bit like my old self, went for a drive, glorious sunshine and Kashmir blasting (on repeat) and that was it. Totally hooked
I know that is gonna sound cheesy, but they have helped me with the bad times
Hello SosoZoso, it is not cheesy, and not uncommon. Sorry you are not feeling well.

I hope JPJ changes his mind about "not wanting to do big tours again". Thanks Elderer.

"Moonrise Kingdom" was a treat. So quirky, but humourous and heartwarming. Beautiful cinematography and fine acting. Edward Norton. Just loved little Sam.
Even the PG-13 rating that mentioned "smoking" made me laugh for some reason....but there was indeed a lot of smoking.
Why was Bob Balaban (forever Russell Dalrymple from Seinfeld to me) wearing winter clothes in the summer? His red coat closely resembles one of my (woman's) winter coats, ha.

I'm lost, who's BD??
I was also wondering this, couldn't figure that one out. Thanks for asking.

You men can laugh at my post if you'd like, but I think the ballerina Natalia Markarova (who was honored at the Kennedy Center along with Zep this weekend) is still beautiful at 72 years old. I thought I posted this in Random Thoughts, but I think my post went into some sort of internet limbo.

I've been involved in an audit process that is very important for the company I work for to maintain a certain level of certifications. I have been dreading it for months. I think my interview went well and now it's over. Yahoooo!

^^ Yeah, what's with that??? I figure if they have it on DVD it should be available for streaming, but many are not...why? Licensing???
That's what I understand. Sometimes I'll watch a TV series via Netflix and it's really annoying having to wait between mailings. A friend has a plan that allows him to have multiple DVDs delivered, but I already spend too much money on television, so I'm not doing it.
This week in addition to watching Celebration Day a few times, I've seen a movie I have not seen in some years - Almost Famous. Love it. By coincidence, I have been thinking of Rod Stewart's song "Every Picture Tells a Story" this week and there it was in the soundtrack. I was wondering why there were no "heavy" Zeppelin songs in the film.

I can definitely say that the locales used in "Moonrise Kingdom" are part of its charm and made me want to visit Rhode Island someday.
This is something I highly recommend. Summer and Autumn in New England - so good.
Just a sweet movie all around and one of the best evocations of young love I've seen in some time. The two kids are just perfect.
Unfortunately not available in Netflix Watch Instantly, but it's now at the top of my queue. I look forward to seeing it.

This is one of my favorite threads in Ramble On.
I don't go to the cinema much and some movies get by me. "Moonrise Kingdom" is one of those, and I've now learned that a lot of it was filmed in 'my backyard'. I'll pretty much try anything that Edward Norton is in.
Thanks TypeO and Strider.

Howdy ebk.
I was able to watch the whole of "Crossfire Hurricane". Very good for the mostpart. The second hour had 10 or 15 minutes of footage from "Gimme Shelter" and some interesting bits about how Taylor and Wood came to the band.
When I got to see it from the start, I wondered why Brian Jones was not listed in the opening credits. Then I figured it out, only the members who spoke presently/recently were listed. One complaint is that a few times I didn't know who was speaking off camera.
Too bad about the heroin addictions of Richards, Jones and Taylor. I don't think I new this about Taylor, or perhpaps I forgot.
-
I don't think so, they have Woody for that, and he's very good at what he does!
That makes sense, I was so excited to see the news that I lost my mind for a bit. I don't know if Taylor would be in shape for a full show anyway.
-
Mick Taylor, really? I wonder what "guest" means for him? Will he play the entire show?
Thanks for that scoop.
-
Has anyone been watching "Crossfiire Hurricane"? I caught it about five minutes in and fell asleep about an hour into it (not because it was boring, because I was exhausted). I will definitely watch it in its entirety when I next have the chance. The first half is loaded with before unseen (by me) performance and interview footage.
-
Strider, I won't further stuff your inbox. I hope you feel better (mentally) soon.

My favorite albums change. It used to be a tie between "Let It Bleed" and "Sticky Fingers". Now it's "Exile". Side one of "It's Only Rock 'n Roll" is also a favorite.

Reading some of the IMDB comments on "Treme" I noticed a lot of mention/kudos about "The Wire". Apparently some of the actors are in both series?
-
Search for "Treme" came up empty. Does anyone watch this show on HBO? As a recent subscriber to HBO, I have just discovered this and have only seen maybe four episodes. I like it so far.
Do any of the Katrina survivors/New Orleans residents who are members here watch this show?
-
I am sorry for your disappointment. Can you apply again or for something else? Best wishes.
-
Thanks Strider.

Hello Magic Fills the Air. A Royal Affair looks good, I have it saved in Netflix, it's not available yet. Thanks for the link.
If you don't mind, what is the title of the painting in your avatar? I tried to find it in google searches, but was unsuccessful. I would like to see a larger version of it.

Snippet from the article linked above, published November 9:
What’s the status of Them Crooked Vultures at the moment? When we last spoke you seemed quite ready to jump into a second album – is there still talk of that?
Hmmm. Well, yes, it didn’t happen because everybody went their different ways. Josh had another child, so that kept him busy. There’s certainly an intention to do more music together and as soon as all our schedules pan out, that’s what we’ll do. I think we can do that sort of thing pretty quickly. So yes, I’d love to play with them again.

I like the sloppy solo. To my untrained ear, it is sloppy.
