  1. Better they retire now with no new material rather than continue to tour for 11 plus years as the Eagles did while banking on nothing but nostalgia.
  2. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com//index.php?act=boardrules Forum Guideline #1: Please SEARCH the board before posting and use existing thread for similar topics. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com//index.php?showtopic=4283 http://forums.ledzeppelin.com//index.php?s...pic=608&hl=
  3. Al Gore came up with a marvelous little invention a few years ago, it's called the internet. They have these things called search engines. I suggest you look into them. Handy little devices they are. Especially that one called Google. No, he didn't.
  4. Here's their setlist from last night, pardon the caps: SUNDAY, MARCH 2, 2008 STARLAND - SAYREVILLE, NJ GOODBYE DAUGHTERS 0F THE REVOLUTION WALK BELIEVER WALK OH JOSEPHINE EVERGREEN WEE WHO SEE THE DEEP LOCUST STREET MOVIN' ON DOWN THE LINE WOUNDED BIRD GOD'S GOT IT THERE'S GOLD IN THEM HILLS WHOA MULE BREAK POOR ELIJAH - TRIBUTE TO ROBERT JOHNSON (DELANEY & BONNIE) JEALOUS AGAIN WISER TIME ROCKIN' CHAIR BREAK HEY GRANDMA (1st) (Moby Grape)
  5. Do you have the entire album? If so, I thought it didn't come out until tomorrow. Reviews (among fans) seem mixed so I'm not so sure I'm going to be buying it. At least not right away. Not to mention tomorrow is a big release day as it also includes Deluxe editions of Skynyrd's Street Survivors and Whiskeytown's Strangers Almanac.
  6. I don't think that has anything to do with why the Police reunion tour is such a big deal. In fact, I can't think of a single "liberal cause" that has even been remotely associated with this tour. Back in the day The Police played shows like Live Aid and reunited for an Amnesty International concert but if those things helped to draw attention to things like world hunger and the plight of prisoners around the globe I don't see a damn thing the matter with it. I think the reunion is a "big deal" because The Police were one of the most successful bands of the late 70s and early 80s and rightfully so, their music stood out because it was very pioneering and innovative for it's time. None of that has a damn thing to do with "liberal causes". ...and we all know how reliable reviews are. That said, Stewart Copeland even slammed their Bonnaroo appearance last year but the shows have vastlly improved since then. I can speak from my own personal experience having seen them in Charlotte last year. Even though Sting was suffering from the flu and had to cancel a Philly show just a few nights before they still put on a hell of a good show.
  7. It's funny how the newer generation complains about missing out on stuff like Woodstock and the big festivals of the time but they find camping out at Bonnaroo to be "dirty". Well, I've never been to Bonnaroo but I have been to my fair share of festivals over the years. Yes, there are hotels near Bonnaroo but camping is also a huge part of the experience.
  8. I don't but that's also a "to each their own" type of thing. They're definitely one of my favorite bands though.
  9. Thanks. The Truckes album is 19 songs so it's quite a bit to absorb all at once. As for the Garcia, it's the expanded version of Compliments from the All Good Things box. Lots of bonus cuts on here that make this album very much worth it's while.
  10. No one was even comparing the two, well, until this post. But "best band ever"? Can't say I agree with that but to each their own.
  11. Saved it from what? I love British rock but I don't think it saved rock n' roll from anything.
  12. This, also from TMZ.com: According to website TMZ.com, the cancellation has been blamed on guitarist Van Halen's poor performances, after he turned up for several gigs apparently intoxicated.
  13. This is the Other Bands / Music section of the board meaning you can post about other bands here. As for Jagger being an "ugly fuck corporate poser". How soon we forget Zeppelin and Plant have allowed their songs to be used for corporate gain. The latest being that JC Penney commercial featuring Plant and Krauss' cover of Killin' the Blues.
  14. Yeah, the Drams record definitely has much more in common with the studio stylings of latter day Beatles and Beach Boys than Slobberbone ever did. Live, they still do the old Slobberbone tunes which is nice. The Steve Earle/Supersuckers single is Creepy Jackaloupe Eye: It's also available on the Steve Earle rarities collection Sidetracks.
  15. No problem. I'm a huge fan of Slobberbone and of Brent Best's current band The Drams (which features most of the same members but is an altogether different sound). Not sure if you're aware of it but the Truckers and Slobberbone used to tour quite frequently together back in the day. I'm not sure if it's still available but at one time there was a video online of the two bands peforming Neil Young's Cortez the Killer together onstage under the name "Slobber Truckers". I'm also a fan of Two Cow Garage but so far all I have is their first record. Not sure if you're aware of this either but Brent Best has served as the producer of their last couple of records. I haven't heard a lot of Supersuckers but I do have one of their songs on a tribute to Willie Nelson called Twisted Willie. They're also on a Steve Earle single I have as well as backing him on a song or two from his outstanding record El Corazon.
  16. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...logID=363112243 "Lost and Found" is our fourth full length record. The release will be available as a FREE download for a limited time. We are getting together the last of the final master edits now. Should be another few days and then the album will be available. We will let you know this week when and where the release location is posted. Later in the year, we will release "Lost and Found" on vinyl and CD. During that time, we will also release a limited run with deluxe packaging and artwork created and printed by John Smith and the rest of the band. The CD and vinyl will be a co- release from SKYBUCKET RECORDS and the new in house Dexateens label, CORNELIUS CHAPEL RECORDS.

  18. Joel was banned from the previous incarnation of this board as well. If he was banned again for the same thing, they were for less than savory reasons and it's all for the best.
  19. Where am I always swearing at people in my posts? As for my avatar it isn't directed at anyone. I'm a Johnny Cash fan. It's a simple as that. Not a single one of the articles I've posted came from allmusic.com. It's also not like all I do is cut and paste articles, I also contribute to threads. You can't seem to stop bitching about everything and are constantly baiting fellow members in your posts. If the moderators thought the posting of articles was a problem they would have done something about it long ago. Checked the Zep related forums at all? Most of them are full of articles posted by Steve A. Jones. They are also full of articles contributed by Pagemiester and others. Perhaps you'd be better off changing your screen name to the much more appropriate "Jethro Troll" because that's exactly what you are, a "troll". You have absolutely nothing positive to contribute to this forum and have done nothing but been antagonistic to your fellow members since arriving here. If you don't like how things are here I suggest you either find another forum more to your liking or start your own.

  21. If there's anyone here attempting to force their own rules on people, it's YOU. Show a little respect and put a lid on it already.
  22. The fact of the matter is, there was already a thread for Deep Purple. Same as there was already a topic for Aerosmith and others. eagle87 obviously didn't take the time to Search for previous topics before starting a new one despite being very politely told about the Search feature and how it is considered courteous to other members not to have multiple threads on the same subject. I post articles here. So does Pagemeister, Steve A. Jones and a number of other members. Hell you just posted one the other day yourself. I have been a member of this board since 2003. If posting articles was a problem with the owner then it would have been brought to our attention a very long time ago. Not to mention, who are you to suggest what interests board members? Go to any board and you'll see plenty of concert and what's everybody listening to threads, it's not just something unique to this board. If those threads weren't popular then members wouldn't post to them but as you can see the what's everyone listening to threads are among the most popular on this board. Not to mention they give each of us an opportunity to share what we're listening to as a way of discovering new music. The creation of them doesn't have anything to do with anyone being an "egomanic" but your constant bitching and baiting of members certainly paints you as a "troll".
  23. It's considered common courtesy on most boards to do a search first before starting new threads. Just sayin'....
