Picture was taken in Berlin two years ago, perfect excuse to show off my (fake) vintage Zeppelin shirt. I wanted to post a picture of me in my other zeppelin shirt in front of a sign that literally said "For Badgeholders Only" (it was a parking spot somewhere), but I can't find it -

^Actually, the more I listen, the more it sounds like Bonzo IMO.
I agree. Not to argue what Jimmy Page says, but to me it sounds like Bonzo... Same kind of raspy, crunchy voice I can hear in banter like the whole diarrhea "he's the only drummer with a commode for a stool" bit (Earls Court?).
Anyone agree?

Sometimes I think I hate Pinterest. Now that everyone's sharing photos using it or Instagram or other such sites, photos are *everywhere* and generally without any info about when/where or a photo credit. Frustrating.
So I am here to ask about this photo (on Pinterest!) - the when/where and photo credit, but also the what: Namely, what is Jimmy Page doing with his left (fret) hand? I don't generally watch videos (I just listen to the music!) so I wouldn't see if Mr. Page does that a lot or not, though I haven't see that left hand position in other photos when he's doing bow work.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

In the picture you posted he's muting the strings. The bang-bang bow section goes something like this: E5... A5... G5... B5...
Each chord is banged with the bow, the echo unit catches the sound and Page rapidly muted the strings to avoid any more feedback. The result:
E5
BANG-BANG!...bang......bang.....
A5
BANG-BANG!...bang...bang.....
Without muting the strings, the output would've been something like:
BANG-BANNNNNGGGGGG..

Steve may be clean, but he is boring. After only a few listens he gets old real fast. Jimmy Page is 20 years older than Vai and is STILL far more widely known. I hope that gets my point through.

This. According to Jones, he and Plant had such an influence on the album because they got to the studio early and wrote/worked out a couple of songs. Page and Bonzo jumped in to help flesh out Plant/Jone's songs when they got there. Not to say that Page was in great shape, but it's definitely exaggerated.

I had to register on this site because Led Zepplin fans always provide me with a laugh. This non-stop comparing between the stodgy Led Zepplin and The Who is unbelievable. Why do Led Zep fans feel in so much competition with The Who?
Could it be that Keith Moon and John Entwhistle came up with the name Led Zepplin, when Page approached them about forming a band in 1968?
Led Zepplin are essentially a blue-based band whose albums are full of filler. Some of the comments I have seen on here about Led Zep being great song writers can only come from people who have no knowledge of the obscure sources that Led Zep stole most of their songs from without giving due credit or royalties to the originators of most of their songs.
It is a well-known fact that Led Zep purloined most of their songs from Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters etc. However, Led Zep fans either do not know their musical history or choose to ignore this fact.
Arguably Led Zep’s greatest song Stairway to Heaven’s guitar intro was stolen from Spirit’s, Taurus. Led Zep toured with them in 1968 and Jimmy Page lifted the guitar riff without any acknowledgment of the source. Have a listen to Jack Jake Holmes’s Dazed and Confused and you would have to be deaf to not hear what Led Zep have done here. Jack Jake Holmes filed a lawsuit against Led Zep along with countless others over the years about Led Zep’s plagiarism.
This has never happened to The Who. The Who are originators and never sounded like they wanted to be a pseudo American blues based band. Pete Townshend was one of the most thoughtful, insightful and provocative songwriters of his time. Tommy and Quadrophenia for example, were concepts albums with a linear narrative that were eventually transferred to the big screen.
The Who released arguably the greatest live album of them all, Live at Leeds. Led Zep fans even have to compare John Bonham with Keith Moon and not surprisingly in their biased opinion Bonham comes out on top. Was Bonham really that good? The only argument Led Zep fans can put up is that he was a heavy hitter on the skins. But really he was a solid drummer and no more than that. You seriously can’t put him in the same league as brilliantly original drummers in the rock canon like Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell and Ginger Baker.
Anyway that is enough from me. As soon as I have posted my thoughts I will close my account on this Led Zep site.
Oh just one more thing.
Led Zep’ so called classic Whole Lotta Love opening lyrics are as follows

The Who will always be more culturally significant than Led Zepplin for many reasons, including the fact that Pete Townshend was a brilliant songwriter, who tapped into a peculiarly British sensibility. Townshend was one of the most intriguing and original writers of the 60s and 70s. Townshend had a relentless stream of ideas, and was able to pick a towering guitar riff out of the air at will. Townshend gave voice to teenage angst with a myriad of great songs in which Led Zep or rather Jimmy Page could only dream about writing. Led Zep songs sang at you and The Who's songs sang to you and about you.

Yes, i absolutly love it, as it reminds me of the 78 world cup, and i can honestly say that there is not ONE song of theirs that i dont like, skip or wont play, and thats called having a love affair with the band, something that has been going on with them and me for 40 years plus.

You may have your infos mixed with all the inconditional love affair with the band. Plant wrote it inspired by the World cup.

I agree, the famous Starship shot(s) would be like the quintessential magnitude of the band. BUT... Led Zeppelin's best picture has got to be playing music - what they best did.

There is no footage existing from the solo unfortunately. Didn't mean to send out a false alarm, but would be thrilling in theory if it ever surfaces.
Was this directed to me? I'm the guy who asked for the NoQuarter solo bit. Anyway, that's too bad! It's the definitive piece of missing footage... Let's hope some vaults are opened in the future.. Cheers to you, man!

The problem really arises from point no. 3; attaining footage to fill the gaps. I have some, but not enough. If anyone knows where to access the originals in best quality, that would be a great help!

After running into this outtake on Youtube (maybe Headley Grange '70?) where the Immigrant Song drum groove transitions perfectly into Bathroom Sound... I began to wonder whether Immigrant Song and Out On The Tiles were initially born as the same jam.
Same take, similar tempo in their early stages, similar drum sound and arrangement, Immigrant Song is in F#... Bathroom Sound/OOTT verses are in F#...
Does anyone else see it? Or is there any info on the subject
