  1. Dandu, there's no "formula" to take good pics. But as greenman said: read all you can and practice. I joined two forums of photography as I bought my Canon 40D, I leanrt a lot on them. You already have a good equipment, more than enough to start. As for macros lenses, I have a Canon 100mm 2.8, I like it a lot. This pic was taken in Alagoas, on the Northeast of Brazil. Pic taken with a Canon 40D and a Tamron 17-50mm
  2. Thank you Dandu Talking about bokeh, this pic was taken with Canon 40D + Canon 85mm. The 85mm is a great set of lens, I really like it specilally when I use them for portraits. But one of the best features of this set of lens is the bokeh, as you can see on the pic below. A very soft, "rounded" bokeh: Pharmacy Museum, Heidelberg, Germany The following pic was taken with the 5D II and the Canon 24-105 mm L. Though it's a L set of lens (the best series of Canon), its bokeh isn't that pretty. The bokeh of the Canon 85mm is way prettier. But I didn't have the 85mm at hand as I took this pic, well, nevermind. It fits the example of a "not so pretty" bokeh Giverny, France
  3. Good job, Greenman, both the pic and your explanations about the DSRLs. I won't even try to explain any technical subjects here since English isn't my first language.... I have read A LOT about DSRLs before I got my Canon 40D three years ago and I was completely satisfied with that at the time. But photograhy kind of grew on me and I decided to go for a Canon 5D Mark II, though I still keep my old 40D. Choosing the right camera is a difficult task and each person has their own needs. Of course I could go on with my Canon 40D, it's a fantastic camera, but the high ISO is a must-have for me. That's why I bought the Canon 5D II, which I love. Redrum, thanks so much for your compliments. :) And yes, I do get around..... Another pic, this one taken in Easter Island with the old Canon 40D and the Tamron 17-50 mm lens
  4. Taken with a Canon 40 D + Canon 10-22 mm, in Sydney, Australia
  5. You can start with a compact camera with manual settings, like the G Canon series or equivalent, you won't need different sets of lenses with these cameras. I have never taken any class on photography but I read a lot and have been trying to improve technically. A good camera doesn't take good pics alone, but a good photographer can make wonderful pics with quite simple cameras. A good pic is born on the eye of the photographer. And the eye can be taught.
  6. This one was also taken with a Canon 10-22mm, and a Canon 40 D. Brasilia's Cathedral, Brazil
  7. The Canon 10-22mm is a GREAT set of lens, I like mine a lot! Great shot, greeman
  8. Thank you Deborah,it's very sweet of you. Photography is my favorite hobby This one was taken in Atacama, Chile. It's the Vale de La Luna, at sunset. Pic taken with a Canon 40D + Tamron 17-50mm, I used a Polorizer filter too.
  9. Thank you zepps_apprentice and Deborah (Hi Deborah, long time, no see ) Zepps_apprentice I took the beach pic ^ above using a Canon 40D and a Tamron 17-50 mm set of lens. I do like this Tamron set A LOT and I would strongly recommend it, I have taken some fabulous pics using it. A very good value too.
  10. You're helpless, Steve I took this pic and I was certainly wearing a bikini. Beautiful beach, even if not that twisted.
  11. Thank you Patrycja As Greenman says a tripod is very useful when you want to blur water. I would also recomend a ND filter. This pic was taken with a Canon G10, a small tripod and the ND filter function of the camera (actually it IS a ND filter, but it is built inside the camera) Some compact cameras as the Canon G series are really good. They are no DSRL, of course, but you can have some very good results using the manual settings of these cameras. Nice pics Greenman!
  12. Pics I took during a recent trip to Europe. I used a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 24 - 105 mm L set of lens. 1. Paris, the Louvre 2.Spiral Staircase, The Vatican Museum Some good pics here, I'm glad to know other Zep fans enjoy photography too.
  13. Saying hi to old friends. Though I don't come here very often anymore, LZ still plays a huge part in my life.
  14. Don't worry, Silvermedalist, I'm not offended at all! And someplaces at the Atacama look like they are from other planets, really. There's one Valley there called Moon Valley. Thank you all for your comments.
