  1. I saw them recently on the 40th anniversary tour and I must say they are on good form - best I've seen them for years. Mostly electric, no violinists in sight, and concentrating mainly on the early stuff, including some obscurities. Apart from obvious staples like Thick as a Brick, Aqualung, Living In The Past etc, they did some rocky stuff like For A Thousand Mothers, My Sunday Feeling, Dharma For One along with a few acoustic gems like Nursie and rarely performed songs such as One For John Gee.
  2. Well, the 40th Anniversary tour is under way - here is the setlist from the 1st night at Swindon on Sunday: -SPOILER- My Sunday Feeling, Living In The Past, A Song For Jeffrey, One For John Gee, So Much Trouble, Love Story, Nursie ('A Little Light Music' version), Up The 'Pool, Serenade To A Cuckoo, Beside Myself, A New Day Yesterday (incl. Kelpie), Bourée - [interval] - We Used To Know/Witches Promise/With You There To Help Me, Sossity: You're A Woman/Reasons For Waiting, Heavy Horses, Dharma For One (w. drum solo), Farm On The Freeway, Thick As A Brick, Aqualung (standard version), Locomotive Breath That'll do me!
  3. I'm seeing them in a few weeks - I'll let you know. I slightly disagree with the other poster though; whilst Ian's voice isn't what it was (although it does vary depending on how long he's been on the road) and live they are a different proposition these days (most gigs are pretty much 'unplugged' and usually have guest artists -violinists etc - on stage most of the time) I do still enjoy seeing them. I certainly wouldn't advise for you not to see them - as long as you aren't expect them to be as they were. It'll be interesting to see what they do for this 40th tour though - no violinists on this tour, and hopefully Martin will get the chance to plug in an electric guitar or two.
  4. I take it you haven't searched Google Images then? Here, I've done it for you: http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&am...brick&gbv=2
  5. I'm seeing them in Cardiff on their 40th anniversary tour - apparently they'll be playing stuff mainly from the first 3 albums.
  6. Jethro Tull - April Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - May
  7. I've got a couple of music related books on the go: Pigs Might Fly: The Inside Story Of Pink Floyd by Mark Blake I've lost count of the amount of Floyd books I have, but this for me is one of the least inspiring. He's tracked down some old colleagues and friends but there's very little in the way of new information and it certainly doesn't encourage you to listen to the music - as the best books should. Rock Legends At Rockfield by Jeff Collins I had no idea this book existed until I came across it in Borders the other day. Crap title I know but it's a fascinating history of Rockfield studios. Collins is a very enthusiastic writer and has tracked down and interviewed many who worked at, or recorded there - including Robert Plant and band (I haven't got that far yet). Well worth a read.
  8. No, you're right about his voice, although some nights are better than others. Nearly all their shows these days seem to be acoustic so it'll be interesting to see if they'll plug in for the 40th tour.
  9. I've just found out that for this years UK tour (celebrating 40 years) they'll be concentrating on the 'pre-prog' years (1968-1970). Sounds like I'll be seeing them again then!
  10. I last saw them in 2007 - Ian Anderson's not the force he was by any means although still very entertaining. It's a pity the setlist stays pretty much the same; they've got so many gems that could do with an outing now and again. I'd love to have seen them with Cornick & Bunker - the concert footage from the Isle of Wight DVD is amazing.
  11. They were on the same bill in Seattle, July 1969. Those were the days...
  12. Crowded House a few days ago. Wasn't really looking forward to it (haven't listened to them for years), however they were really wonderful, one of the best gigs I've been to for a long time. That'll change come December 10 though!
  13. Arcade Fire, 3 weeks ago - bloody good they were too!
