  1. The Cardinals season is over. Shocked, yes. Disappointed, yes. Surprised, yes. However, still very proud and dedicated to my favorite team (win or lose). The 2023 Saint Louis Cardinals will look like a whole different team without Yadier Molina, Albert Pujols and possibly Adam Wainwright. Those three Cardinal legends will be reunited in five years from now representing Saint Louis at the induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. 2028, I believe. All three first ballot nominees and all three first time inductees. Once again, I am proud to be fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals. With that being said and the Cardinals out, I will be rooting for my second favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros. The Astros were my first favorite team as a kid growing up in Houston in the mid to late 1970's, that is until my family and I moved to Saint Louis in late 1980.
  2. There are only two things that I can say about today's game. The Cardinals played a good game against the Phillies up until the top of the 9th inning. That is when the bullpen blew the game and the Phillies staged a good comeback with an impressive 6 runs. Lastly, there is another game tomorrow night and an obvious must-win for the Cardinals. As I am working till 9pm tomorrow night, I will be able to watch the rest of the game when I get home. My faith in the Cardinals remains undeterred, however, I am admittingly a bit more nervous than I was earlier today. As for the Mets, at the moment they seem to be in the same situation that the Cardinals are in. Go Cardinals!!!
  3. Cardinals. Mets. Indians. Blue Jays.
  4. I know that the Mets are your team as the Cardinals are mine. I do understand your lack of confidence in the Mets as you said it is a crapshoot when it comes to any team that makes it to the playoffs. Just be thankful your Mets (and my Cardinals) made it this far. There are only 12 teams that can make that claim this 2022 baseball season. Of course, as fans of our favorite teams there will always be some apprehension (and dread) that our teams will not achieve the ultimate goal. Luckily for me, the Saint Louis Cardinals always seem to be a dominant and likely team to make a playoff run each year (not always, but usually). Therefore, I have full confidence in the Cardinals this (and every) year. You should to even though I will be rooting against the Mets as the Cardinals will have to play them in the division series once we defeat the Brewers and/or Phillies. If that does not happen, I will still be proud of the 2022 baseball season that the Saint Louis Cardinals had this year. Albert Pujols 701(+) home runs hit. Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina starting together a record of 325 times in both their illustrious careers as Cardinals. All three future first time Baseball Hall of Fame inductees. Alas, the pending retirement of all three at the end of this season. To me, it seems like it is in their destiny to all go out on top for a final time. Notice the seems in italics. With all that being written by me, I do wish your New York Mets good fortune up to a certain point.
  5. Congratulations to the 2022 National League Central Division Champions, the Saint Louis Cardinals. I seem to recall someone (on this forum/topic) saying earlier this season that the Cardinals did not have a chance at winning the Central this year and that it was all about the Milwaukee Brewers. So it seems fitting and perhaps a bit ironic that the Cardinals won the division last night in Milwaukee.
  6. I didn't have a chance to post this earlier (I should have, something I now regret), but I had a very strong feeling that Albert would hit his MLB historic 700th home run during the Cardinals/Dodgers 3 game series this weekend. I just did not expect it to happen tonight. Number 699 and 700. Maybe one homerun tonight and his 700th homerun on Saturday or Sunday. Against (to some on here) the all-powerful Los Angeles Dodgers. Seems very fitting to me. Regardless of Albert Pujol's Major League Baseball historic achievement(s), I firmly believe that the Saint Louis are going to make it to the 2022 World Series. If they do not, I can still say that this 2022 season will go down in baseball history as one of the most amazing seasons for an amazing baseball team, the Saint Louis Cardinals. Congratulations to one of the greatest players to ever play the game of Baseball, Mr. Albert Pujols. Edited to add: If anyone who reads this is a true fan of baseball, regardless of your dislike or indifference to the Saint Louis Cardinals Organization, this major feat must be at least respected, appreciated and/or acknowledged as to what it is: a historic event in the history of America's favorite pastime. Major League Baseball.
  7. More Saint Louis Cardinals history in the making and in the (history) books not named Albert Pujols Tonight, September 14, 2022, Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina added their names to MLB history: Time-tested Waino-Yadi battery sets record that may never be broken Cardinals duo makes AL/NL history with 325th start together. Wainwright and Molina, teammates for the past 18 seasons, are already the most successful battery in NL/AL history. They came into Wednesday having already combined for 212 team wins, 10 more than Hall of Famer Warren Spahn had with catcher Del Crandall for the Braves.
  8. The Emmys have never Called Saul (not that I watch or even care about the Emmys or any award show(s) for that matter). Since 2015 "Better Call Saul" has received 46 total nominations and as of yesterday have won a total of ZERO. Most people who know and appreciate outstanding works of excellence know that any kind of award really does not matter to a loyal fanbase: music, television, movies, etc... All throughout Led Zeppelin's dominance of the decade of the 1970's, Led Zeppelin never won any awards. They won many fans and readers polls because the fans voted for them, not some select elite committee somewhere behind closed doors who are the exact opposite of a loyal fan.
  9. I don't care what division the Cardinals are in (or any team for that matter), I just know that it is nice to see that my favorite team is in first place (almost on a yearly basis). I guess that you have not known that feeling since the 1970's. Decades ago. I know that that would suck if that were the case for the Saint Louis Cardinals but knowing that they are serious contenders every year (even if they do not win the World Series) is perfectly fine with me. The same cannot be said of your Orioles. I am glad that I never have to know that feeling like you do (every baseball year/season).
  10. To you the O's might be right there, but have they won 21 out of the last 27 games as have the Cardinals? Who are right there with a 6 game lead over the Brewers and Albert Pujols is now only 6 homeruns away from 700. (Sorry that you cannot bring up the whole steroid issue with Pujols as you have, and probably still will, with Mark McGuire). Keep going Saint Louis!!!
  11. I did enjoy it. I realize that it is not GoT but it has the look and feel of it. I actually look forward seeing how the events of HoD unfold. Of course this being a new show, I have no idea what happens though there does seem to be civil war on the horizon between two Targaryens for the succession of the Iron Throne. If you are a huge GoT fan, I would highly suggest it. That's cool that you have been to the sites featured in Game of Thrones.
  12. Just watched the first episode of HBO's "House of the Dragon". I am a big GoT fan so HoD should be equally as compelling.
  13. National League (co) Player(s) of the week. Saint Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols and Paul Goldschmidt (again). Third time this year for Goldy. Goldschmidt is heavily favored to win National League Most Valuable Player this year. From what I have seen of him, he readily deserves it. Behind him for MVP is Nolan Arenado. The Cardinals have won 7 in a row and are currently 5.0 games ahead of the Brewers. Edited to add: Make that 8 games in a row and a 5.5 lead over the Brewers. Pujols' solo home run won the game and he is now 7 HR's away from 700.
  14. I will admit that I only follow the Saint Louis Cardinals, however I do keep my eyes on other teams that in some ways directly impact the Cardinals and their standing in the NL Central. At this time in the baseball season I also keep track of who is in the wild card race in the National League. Since the Cardinals are currently in first place (three games ahead of the Brewers), I like to check the scores of Atlanta, Philly and San Diego to see how these three teams are doing in case the Cardinals have to play one of them in the playoffs. Probably the wild card since the Dodgers and the Braves have a better record than the Cardinals. At least this year MLB got rid of the one game playoff game. Best 2 out of 3. I will also admit that I am fairly impressed with your Orioles. I do not know anything about them (players, management etc...) but they did go from last place to fourth place and now a possible wild card contender considering they were the worst team (at least in wins/loses) last season. Good Luck. Only 10 more home runs till 700. I really hope he does it:
  15. Without giving anything away, I think they did. Of course there will be some people who won't like it or be satisfied with the ending but I thought it was a perfect ending to an awesome show. When you finish it let me know what you thought about it (the finale).
  16. Better Call Saul. Season finale. Halfway through. Still don't know what the final fate of Saul Goodman will be(come). Regardless, of the final outcome, I am gonna miss this awesome series. Thanks to Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks and the rest of the cast and crew for such an amazing viewing experience.
  17. Not three but five: 1. Led Zeppelin 2. Rush 3. Dio 4. Judas Priest 5. Iron Maiden... Led Zeppelin and Rush are the Greatest (to me). Dio, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are my three favorites after the first two. There are a lot of bands that are overrated and to me the one band that is the most overrated is Pink Floyd. I say this based on the same old songs that are constantly played on the radio (at least here in Dallas) which is probably the same in every city in the United States. I actually change the radio when a Pink Floyd song comes on. As for Led Zeppelin and Rush, I will sit in my car until the song is over unless I am going to work.
  18. I was wondering the same thing. I thought it might be about the cop that lets in the two guys from the garage area. The one that says "lotta fun, lotta fun". Or the "no comment, no comment" cop. We all knew instantly what was meant by "hoodie" girl. Anyways, great story Ana.
  19. "Better Call Saul". After tonight, only one more episode left to complete another one of the greatest television series of All-Time following its predecessor, the even greater "Breaking Bad". What will become of the fate of Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman/Gene Tacovic? Mllions of fans will find out next Monday night.
  20. So... the Saint Louis Cardinals are in first place in the National League Central. They have currently won seven straight games. They swept the New York Yankees over the weekend (the first by a National League team in fifteen or so years) and swept the Chicago Cubs prior to the Yankees. Nolan Arenado was named the National League Player of the week for the second time this season (4/9/22 and 8/6/22) and was the 2022 Player of the month for April. Paul Goldschmidt has been named Player of the week twice this season also (6/18/22 and 7/23/22) and named 2022 Player of the month for May. Pretty impressive if you ask me Just stating facts. Not gossip, speculation or innuendo. I Love the Saint Louis Cardinals as much as I Love(d) the beautiful Olivia Newton-John.
  21. Olivia Newton-John. She was and will always be my favorite female singer. I just listened to and watched her video this morning for "Magic" (my second favorite song by her. My first being "A Little More Love"). So was so Beautiful and talented. I am sad.
  22. The Saint Louis Cardinals are currently tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for 1st place in the National League Central Division. The Cardinals win four in a row while the Brewers lose four in a row. The Cardinals begin a three day homestand with the Yankees, a not too often occurence between these two historical franchises and possibly a preview of the 2022 World Series. I realize that alot of people will dimiss this claim although I did say possible, not probable. Regardless of the outcome, my loyalty and devotion to the Saint Louis Cardinals will never waiver.
  23. Depending on your definition of "caliber of actors", I can think of some actors in the past twenty years who have (I believe) greatly contributed to the profession of acting: James Gandolfini (The Sopranos) Edie Falco (The Sopranos/Nurse Jackie) Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) Lena Heady (Game of Thrones) Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) Paula Malcomson (Ray Donovan) Claire Danes (Homeland) Damian Lewis (Homeland) Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire) Dominic West (The Wire) Jon Hamm (Mad Men) Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) Anna Paquin (True Blood) Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest) Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul) Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) Jonathon Banks (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul) Mary Louise Parker (Weeds) David Duchovny (Californication) Jason Bateman (Ozark) Laura Linney (Ozark) Julia Garner (Ozark) ... to name more than a few. All these actors may not be "movie stars" but I think that each one has brought acting to a whole new level unprecedented in the history of television. Almost all of them have received numerous awards and accolades for their work(s). All these actors and their respective shows/series were made by HBO, AMC, Showtime and Netflix (with the exception of Friday Night Lights which aired on NBC). Just my opinion...
  24. Well, I was correct with three of my Saint Louis Cardinals All-Star picks: Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and Albert Pujols. Add to that Miles Mikolas and Ryan Helsley for a total of five. Not too bad for a team only .5 games behind the Brewers and with the sixth best record (so far) in the National League. Arenado opted out of the All-Star game due to lower back soreness and to rest up for the second half of the season. (A classy move if you ask me. Arenado does not seek all the attention the All-Star game would bring. He just wants to help the Cardinals do what they do best-Win). So, technically, four Cardinal All-Stars are in attendence for the All-Star game.
