  1. The reason I asked if Eric Clapton is still "relevant" these days in 2013 is because I read that his new album is mostly 'cover' songs of other people's work. Not that that seems to make a difference to die-hard Clapton fans but it seems a bit suspect to me. I believe that Mr. Clapton still has many years to go, so why make a "new" album that consists mainly of cover songs? I considered seeing him when his tour came to Dallas, Texas, but decided against going after seeing that out of 22 songs in his setlist, I would have only really been familiar with about 12 of those 22 songs. No offense intended to all the Eric Clapton fans out there. "SWLBAR", "Tales of Brave Ulysses" and "Badge" are some of My favorite songs.
  2. I was at the Dallas concert back in November. What a great Fucking gig. There is a slim possibility that I might be included in the dvd because there was a cameraman filming some of the long shots (I had seats up and near the back of the American Airlines Center). He was about 5 feet to my left and he panned his camera toward me and the other people sitting in my section. I was screaming and yelling when he did this and I actually made the cameraman laugh.
  3. Two of My favorite Firm songs are "Tear Down the Walls" and "Spirit of Love". Edited to add: I saw the Firm in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1986. My first time seeing Jimmy Page live in concert. I will never forget His bow solo inside the revolving green pyramid. I had a friend who was also at this show sitting somewhere in the first 5 rows and He swears he saw Jimmy Page walk toward the back of the amps, roll up his sleeve and saw someone stick a needle in Jimmy's arm right before he started the Bow solo.
  4. I know this might draw some ire, but is Eric Clapton even "relevant" these days?
  5. Natalie Merchant. "Carnival": http://youtu.be/VQ_Wqtnlv4U. the Bee Gees. "More than a Woman": http://youtu.be/HjZmSkUL6Ws. the Spinners. "Rubberband Man": http://youtu.be/7C4B38etY4k.
  6. Almost a full version of the "Crunge". http://youtu.be/JmX3TagdbHI
  7. Just asking. Are you saying that the David McDavid that sells cars in the D/FW Metroplex went to and saw Led Zeppelin at the Houston Summit in 1977?
  8. I found this while listening to a Page/Plant live bootleg. I think this is pretty awesome: http://youtu.be/-NTgSpxkHpI
  9. Tony Iommi remembers John Bonham as good friend: http://youtu.be/YFq9pKIFQMs
  10. Yes, there is a reference to Led Zeppelin in this movie (actually a reference to Jimmy Page's penis). It is a scene in which the Banger Sisters (Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon) were getting high in the basement and looking through a box full of Polaroid pictures of Rock Stars penises. They would look at the picture and try and remember which Rock Star penis it was. They looked at one picture, say something (can't remember exactly what), and then turn the picture over (the name of the person was on the back) and both of them say "Jimmy Page". Actually pretty funny.
  11. Cool. Again, Thanks. I will have to find and listen to "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind" and the alternate version of "Heart of Stone".
  12. Thanks for your quick reply. Like I said, the solos have a very distinct Jimmy Page sound. I guess Mick Taylor is/was a fan of Jimmy Page even way back then. I had just recently "re-discovered" "I Don't Know Why" when I began listening to the Rolling Stones box set titled, the "London Years" (which I have had for at least 20 years, it seems). Great stuff by the Stones. I know that John Paul Jones does the "arrangement" on "She's a Rainbow". Other standouts on this collection includes, "2000 Light Year's from Home", "Jiving Sister Fanny" and the great (and probably little heard of) "Memo from Turner". http://youtu.be/U6o2ZpHZWos http://youtu.be/G0fcqfgJJeE http://youtu.be/tAPgDs30eq8 So, one last question, are you saying that Jimmy played bass on an alternate version of "Heart of Stone"? Is this the only song that Jimmy played on that would eventually be released as the Rolling Stones Metamorphosis? Thanks!
  13. I guess this could be considered a "mystery". On the Rolling Stones album, Metamorphosis, released in 1975 (however, a compilation of songs recorded between 1964 and 1970), is that Jimmy Page who plays the guitar on the (great) song, "I Don't Know Why"? I know that Jimmy is credited as playing on this album. If true, then it was when Jimmy was still a session musician. Hence the 1969-1970 timeframe. Listen to the two solos beginning at around 1:04-1:25 and at the 2:05-2:27 mark. I could be wrong, however, these two brief solos have a very distinctive Jimmy Page sound. http://youtu.be/ydHupXGnzPU
  14. This video has probably already been posted in this topic, maybe not. If not, here it is. A very personal and Powerful performance of Jimmy Page at the New York City A.R.M.S. benefit concert. http://youtu.be/u_eDOYk-tFA
  15. This picture of Robert Plant and Michael Douglas is very intriguing to me. I belive it is taken from some Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway or Helsinki, Finland. Whether I am right or wrong, I don't care. What captivates me is a very interesting picture of two of my favorite persons engaged in what seems like a very meaningful conversation. Anyone have any better knowledge of the origins of this photograph?
  16. I believe this is it. The pure "Swan Song" without the vocals. http://youtu.be/oW-6-DsnKco
  17. I used to live in suburban Saint Louis (Maryland Heights) and K-SHE 95 was the radio station that I listened to all the time when I was a teenager. I remember hearing the Firm on K-SHE 95. They played "Radioactive" and "Satisfaction Guaranteed" quite a bit. I saw the Firm play at the "Checkerdome" in St. Louis way back in 1986. I am not saying you are wrong and I have no clue as to your age, but I was living in St. Louis when the Firm came in 1986. I will never forget that concert because it was the first time I had ever seen Jimmy Page play live and I was just 15 years old at the time.
  18. I am posting this for any non-believers of the Power of Ronnie James DIO and his Voice and His band members. This is Pure Heavy Metal and proof that RJD is One of the Greatest Singers of All-Time!!!
  19. This is pretty cool: http://youtu.be/bvmgrLSboWk
  20. It still breaks My heart that Ronnie James DIO is no longer with US. I know that there are other threads related to Ronnie, however, I wanted to start a new one because He deserves all that His loyal fans can and do really appreciate. From what I have seen, read and heard, RJD really Loved and Appreciated His fans from all over the World. I had the privelage to see him twice and even got to shake His hand when He came offstage to greet all His fans. After Robert Plant, Ronnie James DIO is my favorite Singer. LONG LIVE RONNIE JAMES DIO!!! http://youtu.be/bkysjcs5vFU http://youtu.be/1jX5vJgXoDo http://youtu.be/wxxOPvLg7o0
