  1. This is probably my favorite Beach Boy's song right now. Friends is a un-discovered masterpiece, which is near the quality of Pet Sounds.
  2. The only beef I have with Neil Young, is that his "Complete Neil Young" set, isn't exactly "complete"...
  3. I'd say the best live show/concert film ever made, is Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration, no bullshit, no fluff, just a straightforward concert full of excellent tunes. It would be one of the three films I would want to have if I was stranded on a desert island for the rest of my life.
  4. I've done both of those things..but quite frankly, I couldn't stand them. My biggest beef is that Jagger sings lyrics in a mixed-up fashion like he cannot remember them almost (A big offender is "Tumbling Dice"), and everything just doesn't sound as strong as it does in-studio. And, for songs like "Sympathy For the Devil" and pretty much all of "Exile On Main Street", the lack of the certain instruments that were used in-studio, lowers the quality of the song. In "Exile"'s case, the lack of background singers and a horn section is what brings the already weak material down. Another thing is, the Stones rarely bring back up and such on tour, and they never play their best stuff, if they played "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" during every show, with the sax and such, as a free form jam, then man, they could probably release an entire album of just different versions of that jam.
  5. I've always thought the Stones were less-than-stellar live..I prefer to listen to their studio albums, though I'd like to see them at least once in concert before they croak.
  6. A Day in the Life of a Tree - The Beach Boys
  7. Tried listening to OK Computer, songs like "Paranoid Android", the lyrics are meaningless and highly unrelatable..
  8. Change the World - Eric Clapton
  9. Living In the Material World - George Harrison
  10. Take It Like A Woman - Alice Cooper
  11. Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel) - Roy Orbison
  12. Got these today: Goat's Head Soup - The Rolling Stones (2009 Re-master) ' Tattoo You - The Rolling Stones (2009 Re-master) Surfer's Choice - Dick Dale and His Del-tones Tigermilk - Belle and Sebastian Cults - Cults Blood Sugar Sex Magik - The Red Hot Chili Peppers In the Mountain in the Cloud - Portugal the Man Safe Travels - Jukebox the Ghost
  13. You are not alone..lyrics pretty much make or break an artist for me, unless the music is just so good that the lyrics don't matter.. That's really why I can't stand bands like Radiohead, or the like..they seem to have little to no lyrical depth, and the music is almost completely electronic.
  14. I'm really upset that the measure to legalize marijuana didn't pass in my state (Oregon), I was quite suprised.
  15. Far Away Eyes - The Rolling Stones
  16. Hold On Hope - Guided by Voices
  17. Is anyone genuinely confused as to WHY critics continually call Highway 61 Revisited Dylan's magnum opus? I like the album, but it's not entirely full of excellent songs, and it's just not as entertaining in general..but again, that's just my opinion...Dylan's masterpiece is undoubtedly Blonde On Blonde though. Both Bringing It All Back Home and Blood On The Tracks are very closer runner-ups, I don't think their is a bad song within any of those three albums... Blonde On Blonde, Bringing It All Home, Blood On the Tracks, and The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, and surprisingly, Slow Train Coming round out my top five.
  18. Walk On the Wild Side - Lou Reed
  19. Oops, screwed up. Disregard this post.
  20. More Than A Feeling - Boston
  21. He's probably too busy performing sex-magick rituals over at Headley Grange to write any new material .. But in all seriousness, he doesn't need to do anything else, he's rolling in it already, and if he releases something new, there is always the chance it could ruin his "legacy".
