Its so weird the comparassons between the Van Halen Sam and Dave versions...but I go with Sammy here...for Dave, Eddie had to tune down a few steps because Dave didnt have the range...and it resulted in sloppy playing...and when Dave went...so did Ted Templeton...and Eddie self produced...
...but Daves band with Steve Vai was much better than Van Halen ever was...as is Sammys band with Joe Satriani...
I shoot video for bands...you can tell the sound was the feed from the board...decent quality...sometime I hope to shoot a LZ tribute...heres some of the stuff Ive shot...
In an 80s movie "French Postcards" ...one of the students were holding up the cover of LZ3 while "Celebration day" was playing with the vocals in french...and I once heard "The Lemon Song" in a 70s porn flick...
Great on many counts...but a few flaws...Robert would sing through a Shure 545 or an SM57...but a wireless...lol.
Bonzo would never let them close mic his drum kit...one bass drum mic (Beyer M80) and 2 Overheads (Neumann u87s)
But they were really good...
A band called "No Quarter" was the very best Ive ever seen...the worst..."Houses of the Holy" (The one touring with Austrailian Pink Floyd)...they had 5 members...the Plant had brown short hair...and they didnt even try to have the look...plus the equipment they were using...Ibenez guitars???
