  1. Its so weird the comparassons between the Van Halen Sam and Dave versions...but I go with Sammy here...for Dave, Eddie had to tune down a few steps because Dave didnt have the range...and it resulted in sloppy playing...and when Dave went...so did Ted Templeton...and Eddie self produced...

...but Daves band with Steve Vai was much better than Van Halen ever was...as is Sammys band with Joe Satriani...

  2. Click tracks are not used to sync tape machines!

You use one track on a multitrack to record a SMPTE synchronisation pulse (a not very pleasant or playable to sound) so that two machines can then be synchronised. For example to synchronise two 24-track machines you would lose one track per machine to SMPTE timecode leaving you with 46 usable tracks.

Considering Led Zep II was recorded in quite a few different studios it was probably recorded on 8 or 16 track tape (24 track machines didn't really get used until the mid 70's and I think Presence was their first album to use that format) and that really would have been plenty - at the time 16 tracks was considered an incredible amount and synchronising two tape deck without physically connecting the mechanisms (so no need for a sync track) was a pipe dream.... remember The Beatles recorded the majority of their stuff on 4 tracks!

I call bullshit on this one.

The pitter-patter clicking noise is Bonham hitting either cardboard boxes (like on Buddy Holly's 'everyday' which has been stated as an influence on the song) or his knees and is there deliberately - Do you really think Page would have left in in otherwise?. If you want to call Bonham's percussion a 'click track' that's fine, but technically incorrect.

LZ2 was early...2 8 track machines were syncd together...and the Beatles overdubbed until Sgt Pepper which was done on 8 track...
  3. Geez, can't believe anyone buys into that crap that they were pedos...

Most reasonable people didnt need more than the fact he liked to sleep with little boys to know he was molesting them...while the statisics proove that only one in 200 boys report being molested...with 11 accusers...that put MJ on track for 2200 victims in the 25 years he was sleeping with them openly...
  4. Except Pete Townshend and Michael Jackson did not have sex with minors. Sure the whole research thing is shady but I'm willing to give Pete the benefit of the doubt, and MJ was weird but I highly doubt he was having sex with kids, especially after those other kids came out after his death saying they made it up.

According to evidence he not only did molest thoe boys...but most of them got paid to deny it on trial...but if you went to smoking gun.com where the initial statements are scanned online...you will see that all 11 had the same stories about his "Grooming and what he did to them once in the bed"...how does this knowledge go from kid to kid when none of them knew one another...plus the man-boy magazines found in the room...plus the last 4 accusers did know what his Vitaglio pattern looked like on his p****...

I for one am still waiting for Pete's documentary...lol...I cant believe anyone buys that story...

Enough of the thread going in this direction...yes I was weirdly disapointed to see LZ sell the song to sell cadilacs...but better than something lame...

  5. Whether a song is purchased by a fan or for use in an ad, it would be fruitless to monitor how the artist uses the income. Glitter would not be alone is spending his money on such services, if in fact he actually does. And what about people who make their money in businesses other than the music industry? The only difference between those with profile and wealth and anyone else is that they can perhaps afford to hide their actions more effectively. Why should public people be held to any different standard than the rest of the population?

Yeah...but everybody knows that Gary Glitter does that...and yes Pete Townsend...Micheal Jackson...R. Kelly...etc...

Shouldnt we all be held up to those standards...Pete...Micheal...and R Kelly didnt have to serve one day...here in the USA the unfamous pedophiles serve up to 25 years on each count...

  6. As long as there isnt a bunch of changes...you can make money...but just dont let them screw up the music...

What I hate is when after the effort of the NFL to ban the Gary Glitter song because he was using the money to rape little girls in the brothels in the eastern rim...Hewlet Packard turns arround and uses "Do you wanna touch me" in their ads...

  7. They should have gotten someone else. I'll give Jonesy credit for trying his best, but his backing vocals weren't very good. It is implausible for them to hire a backup singer for just one song, so maybe Bonzo could have done them?

Why not...could have lined up a new lady for every date who would have done it for free...shit...Chuck Berry did that with an entire band on every date for about 60 years...just demands a Fender Bassman and Lincoln towncar...and a backup band...just put it in the rider...

  8. But he has learned how to use what he does have very well...when compared to other artists his age that sing or try to sing in the same register. Plant has made good use of his voice There were actually places on Celebration day where I liked the vox better than the originals and Kashmir was pretty impressive by any standards...I had never seen the bootlegs cuz i dont do boots so when I saw it in the theater I was stunned at how great it really was..same as when I saw BOJ almost...I find Paul McCartney sounds very different live without studio tricks helping him out although maybe...just maybe not Paul the original.Half kidding ...but uncles wife swears she knows somone in on the burial on Sept 12 0r 13th 1966 in Highgate Cemetary in London. I dont care either way and dont want an OT Paul is dead debate-probably garbage... and I am not a BEatles fan at this stage of my life...prefer Buddy Miller or T Bone Burnett or old T Rex to it now. LZ still #1 always...I agree on Robert scaling back the LZ especially Black Dog which is really played out now.

Id still like to see it too...Mick doesnt even try to be on the right notes since Bridges to Babaylon...but they still line up to buy tickets...better than lypsyncing like many acts out there...

Ive always thought the Paul lookalike they replaced the original Paul with had lower cheekbones than the one in the pictures...just like when they faked the death of Elvis and the Moon Landing...the government doesnt f*** arround...lol.
