  1. Well, that solves the mystery of the missing Quaaludes. Dr. Badgeley doesn't appear to be a very nice man, does he? Btw, who is Jaan Uhelski?

    Robert's Hair

Are you sure this is from 1969? In the film I've seen from that year, he looks more baby-faced.
  3. I don't think the onus should be on Cole alone. He reported to Peter Grant who had the power to fire the thugs. Unfortunately, Grant was also battling a cocaine addiction at the time.

    Robert's Hair

I'm torn between his Royal Albert Hall concert hair in 1970 and his Earl's Court concert hair in 1975. His 1970 hair looks straighter as if he washed it, set it with very large, hard plastic hair rollers then got under a hair dryer. It's part in the middle and more or less the same length all the way around. Lots of rock musicians wore their hair this long but few (if any) could match Plant for the sheer volume of his hair back then. That hair was as authoritative and awe-inspiring as his voice. It announced to the rock world, "I'M HERE!" In the Earl's Court footage, his hair is a mass of golden blond ringlets that frequently obscures face. I used to wonder why Roger Daltrey and Brian May, who also had long, curly hair managed to keep it out of their eyes when they performed unlike Robert. Then I realized their respective hair cuts probably made the difference. Daltrey and May's manes were part of their public personas but it wasn't part of their stage acts. They didn't "work" their hair the way Robert does.
  5. Is that Robert's back we see between Jimmy and Ms. Felix?
  6. I have a question for Richard Cole. In his book, "Stairway to Heaven" he mentioned how stressed out he was over the band's security. When did Led Zeppelin start hiring security to accompany the band when they performed?
  7. Sunny but quite frigid with a high of 34 degrees Farenheit today. I am so ready for spring weather. I want warmer weather, Bradford pear trees in bloom and daffodils.
  8. Interesting comment about JPJ hating on Audrey Hamilton and calling her a homewrecker. Didn't he have a fling with Morgana Welch back in the day? Also, why would he care who Plant was knocking boots with unless the affair was causing him to be late for gigs, etc.?
  9. I'm having several relatives over for Sunday dinner tomorrow. The menu is: Roasted beet and orange salad with a citrus vinaigrette Chicken tetrazzinni Green beans sauteed in garlic oil Garlic bread Applesauce cake I bought two bottles of Pinot Grigio to have with the food and I'll serve coffee with the cake.
  10. An intriguing photo. Is it just me or does anyone else think JP looks rather haunted in it?
  11. When I first read Charles J. White's post, I thought, "Is he serious!?! Everyone had been waiting for Plant and Page to work together again since Zeppelin ended!" However, after chewing it over for two months, I think Charles is right. Unledded may have been a boost to Plant's career at the time but it didn't really do anything for Page's. OTOH, Coverdale/Page was a move forward for Page. He co-wrote new material with him; did some of his best post-Zep playing, etc. LedZebedee maybe right about the timing being the main reason the album and tour didn't sell well. Grunge was "the thing" in rock music at the time. I also don't know if Coverdale could have afforded to keep working with Page given that the Coverdale/Page album and tour didn't sell well. The irony is that by 1996 Coverdale had gone back to his natural brown hair color (no more Robert Plant look-alike) and was doing concerts with acoustic versions of Deep Purple and Whitesnake songs.
  12. Is he playing harmonica in this one?
  13. Do you know when it was taken? He looks very young but he was old enough to grow a beard.
  14. Nice photo! Of the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin, JPJ's appearance has changed the least.
  15. Okay, let's play "identify the rocker." Robert Plant is in the back row, the fourth man from the left. I believe Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy is the man on the front row, far right with the curly dark hair and dark complexion. The guy next to Lynott is Steve Perry from Journey. Guy on the first row wearing the knit cap looks like Paul Rodgers. Who is the man sitting between Paul Rodgers and Steve Perry? His face is familiar but I can't place him. Does anyone know when and where this photo was taken?
  16. "Moonraker" is my favorite James Bond film because it's such campy fun. I got a kick out of Jaws and Roger Moore's throwaway lines. I usually prefer the "bad" Bond girls because they're more interesting and entertaining characters. I'm a straight female so "hotness" isn't the deciding factor for me. It's a three-way tie between May Day from "A View to a Kill", Xenia Ontopp from "Goldeneye" and Eva Green's character from "Casino Royale". The first two were such great, kick-butt villainesses. In "Casino Royale" Eva Green was very moving as a basically decent woman caught between a rock and a hard place. Sean Bean's character, "Alex" from Goldeneye is my favorite Bond villain. The man is just hot, even when he's playing a vindictive psychopath. "Diamonds are Forever" sung by the legendary Shirley Bassey is my favorite Bond film theme song. The lyrics say it all..."Diamonds are forever; sparkling around my little finger. Unlike men they always linger. Men are mere mortals not worth going to your grave for." Girlfriend had her priorities straight. <grin>
  17. Just a guess...he's got what I refer to as a "proud parent" expression on his face in that photo. My vote would be that he's taking a picture of one of his kids or granddaughter.
  18. Nope. He's blond so his eyelashes are probably blond as well. They wouldn't show up in photos unless he was wearing mascara. I wonder if he used eyebrow pencil on his brows? They looked a lot darker than his hair in the photos.
  19. I think you're right. It's Dan Hawkins.
  20. Who are the dudes in the photo with JP and Brian May?
  21. Is the bloke on the left, the Zep roadie named Magnet?
  22. You know, you have a point about "All My Love". I actually liked it but then I generally liked pop music. More important, it gave us a preview of where Plant would go early in his solo career.
  23. I've a question for you, Ed A. Did you notice the things that bothered you about Page's guitar playing the night of the O2 show or did they only become apparent when you watched the Celebration Day DVD?
  24. Nice photo but I gotta ask: Does Page wear any other color besides black nowadays?
