Sure wish I could see them in a club like that. Despite a promise they were coming to "New York," their concert will be at the football stadium in New Jersey. Not interested in a stadium show and it's too hard to get to.

I just finished Lita Ford's memoir; I'm wondering if anyone else has read it? She mysteriously does not mention Jackie Fox's allegations. Her reminiscences of her relationship with Tony Iommi are somewhat shocking but in a way not surprising because when you add drugs to the effects of a violent childhood...the results aren't good. Haven't listened to her recent work...has anyone else? I enjoyed the book overall. She lived a wild life without shame, and has persevered despite traumas and tragedy.

So I thought I'd post some pics of my swag from my VIP package...it was a photo book that also included some tickets and flyers to Sabbath concerts over the years, some guitar picks, a pendant that I'm unlikely to wear and something called a "commemorative ticket" which didn't quite make sense to me as I had an actual ticket which was just a printout from Ticketmaster...The book is nice and I'm experimenting with the picks. I found out that if I'd bought the really expensive VIP package it would have included a sound check during which they may have played "Symptom of the Universe" but I've only got so much cash...

Pictures might be nice but I'm not interested in some dude's interpretation of Black Sabbath lyrics.

Just got back from the Madison Square Garden show an hour ago. It was great. They are as good as they ever were. I think Tommy is an excellent drummer.

In truth I don't like the way this lawsuit is being handled. It seems to be being handled in a way that maximizes profits for the attorneys. These are just delaying tactics and we know lawyers charge by the hour (actually they charge by the minute. One of my patients had a lawyer who charged her in six minute increments for phone calls). The members of Zep have deep pockets. Why not just get to the meat of the suit? It has no validity on musical grounds. (although, I have to admit I was shocked at the successful suit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell because even though I can't stand them and that song (or maybe especially because I can't stand that song) that song had almost no resemblance to the Marvin Gaye tune).

I take back what i said about Lawrence Kasdan; he did write a couple of movies I liked. It's just that I hated The Big Chill and Silverado. Maybe it's the directors I should blame...

My review: Enjoyable mainly for the nostalgia value. I loved seeing the old characters/actors again. I also liked the locations and Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. There was a little bit of good dialogue. It starts out well, but after awhile the action gets repetitive and about halfway through the plot is extremely predictable. A lot of it was lifted from New Hope, as many have pointed out. Frankly as soon as I saw that Lawrence Kasdan was one of the writers I knew I wasn't going to like it that much. I have found his past movies to be superficial, lacking depth and character development. But for a fan of the previous movies of course it's worth seeing.

Was that supposed to be an insult? Why would I assume what film it follows? It could just as easily be a prequel. Apparently I ruffled your feathers at some point in the past 3 years and you have been carrying a grudge ever since. That is just sad.

I do plan on seeing it. However, I thought the series was complete with the six films. When is this one supposed to take place? The review I read indicated that it is a sequel not a prequel...so the Empire was never defeated?? I guess that would definitely make it a movie for our time, when we never seem to "win" any type of war; we have instead "wars on terrorism" that go on and on and on and on. Two guys and a woman don't make a feminist movie; so, no progress there. Star Wars is a complete fantasy about an alternate galaxy and what was groundbreaking about it, other than the technology, was that it showed aliens who looked like completely different species but had the same level of intelligence as humans as well as culture and societies. When I saw this in 1977 it seemed very progressive because it was obviously a metaphor for a culturally diverse Earth.

I'm happy the moderators finally banned political and religious topics. I made the suggestion to Sam and the other moderators over a year ago. I imagine others may have as well. I can only assume that either someone with more clout than a lowly fan like me has complained, or, someone threatened a lawsuit or government complaint. I don't know where this website is registered, but hate speech is illegal in the UK, and in the US, it's possible a legal case can be made that a website with 800,000 members is a public accommodation. Advocating violence against a minority group isn't allowed under the US's First Amendment and public accommodations aren't theoretically allowed to create hostile environments for minority groups or women (although they often get away with it).

I just finished "Zeytoun," by Dave Eggers. It's a nonfiction book about a man who stayed in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. What he went through...it is very worth reading. It wasn't the hurricane that almost cost him his life; it was cops and National Guard people...your tax dollars at work!
