  1. Dazed and Confused From Feb 13th 1975, The end jam is so epic!
  2. I always thought it was Stevie Winwood on vocals but its been a long long time since I have heard this song and I never owned the album. I also used to get this band mixed up with Traffic too. I wiki'd the album to see who sang on it and Clapton is listed as being the vocalist for the band. So I figured it must have been Clapton singing. I knew there was a reason I loved this song so much. Stevie Winwood!!!
  3. I knew I wasn't alone. The only time clapton really wowed me was in a few songs songs from Cream and that one track with Blind Faith CFMWH its really the only song he sings well. I was into Clapton before I found Zeppelin. Got into Jeff Beck and Jimmy about the same time and then it was see ya later Clapton. The only other 2 guitarists to hang on were Tony Iommi and Jimi Hendrix.
  4. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. Any result can be considered perfect by the creator and it doesn't mean that a mistake/s weren't made during the process. If you feel the final outcome of your work is perfect then its perfect no matter what anyone else thinks.
  5. As a long time Zeppelin fan (38 years) I am not really a fan of the Hot Dog track overall but that doesn't mean its not a great example of the genre. How do any of us know what Jimmy intended to play? So what if that pinky isn't clean maybe its just how he wanted to play it!, ever think of that.? We cannot/should not pigeonhole Jimmy into playing things the way You/we/they/me "think" it should be played any more than you can tell a fish how to swim.
  6. Let us take the word "sloppy" and switch it out for a slang version of the word "play", which in this case refers to "tight But Loose". There is "play" in his technique. This "play" or looseness combined with the tightness of the rhythm section is what causes a lot of the magic in their music. Jimmy's looseness allows him to move in and out of the beat with an uncanny ease. This ease of playing is what the likes of EV,YM and the rest are lacking in their own playing. Every time I hear Jimmy rub or bump a string in studio I consider it part of what he wanted to play and not some mistake which he could not overcome. Even live Jimmy can incorporate a mistake and make it seem intended. This is why Jimmy is my fav guitarist of all time
  7. Yes. No one member can be replaced and still maintain the sound, feel and technical genius that was Led Zeppelin
  8. There is a pretty good video of Jimmy doing his bow solo in Syracuse 1988. Of all the vids where you can see it Syracuse is the best and its a pretty creepy solo too.
  9. Personally, I find Over The Top and Jimmy's noise solo from the 23'rd to be very good. All except the part where he lifts the guitar up and down with that weird effect. The rest is genius. Especially the toggle switch bit just before the theremin part from the 23'rd, short and sweet but very atmospheric. Better than any other night!
  10. Has anybody heard the soundboard snippet of Jimmy's bow solo from 6-23-77? Its been a long long time since I heard it. I had downloaded it from the Presence server many moons ago and have since lost it due to computer failure. If I remember correctly I wasn't all that impressed with the sound for a SB.
  11. No, But I will give both of them a run for their money if put onstage to solo next to them .
  12. No, Not saying they were trying to upstage anyone, and not underestimating anything. I know what I'm talking about, hell! I could play what they played and I do not consider myself to be any where near pro.
  13. John Bonham is the standard by which I judge all drum solos. Too bad the both of them together cannot even come close to what john did on his kit all by his self. Here you have 2 kits and they still don't sound as big and powerful as John did alone without double bass let alone four or more.
  14. Here are some touched up pics of ones posted earlier.
