  1. Dam that's an exhaustive release, not masses of stuff that hasn't been around before but the majority of the professionally recorded content that's around which will hopefully have been handled better than previously. I believe each individual "year" sub package will be sold separately next year so its only the bonus one and the single vinyl re presses that are exclusive to the box. That will I'd guess please a lot of people, Barret fans only need to get the first one and casual Floyd fans perhaps drawn to the 69 and 70 sets with the Man/Journey and Zabriskie outtakes. I'm actually plesently surprised how appealing it is to me given that most of it is not previously uncirculated, I spose because almost all of my unoffical Floyd stuff is audience recordings from the 70's which aren't featured. I'v never been much of a fan of unofficial video footage as its generally not delt with that well, hopefully this release improves that.
  2. Beyond injuries your also of course dealing with a deliberate change in style towards something less overtly bluesy with a harsher tone.
  3. Page's soloing is probably at its slickest in the best 73 versions but for me they are lacking in drama. The start of the 75 is really pretty similar but during that tour I think the track really comes into its own with JPJ taking on a much greater role both in his own solo and the three piece solo which I think helps gives the track much more dramatic direction akin to Dazed rather than just being a drawn out noodling. The increasingly jazzy versions from the end of the US tour are probably my favourites overall and just flow so well, 21/3. 25/3 and 27/3 probably being the best for me. The EC versions go in a more classical direction, perhaps lack a bit of drive compaired to the US but definitely gave grace and I'd say the 18/5 and 23/5 stand out. The 77 versions I think become more of a collection of good(and the odd not so good) moments. I would say actually the second destroyer show from 28/4 probably flows most naturally even if its missing the end, besides that I would say Eddie from 21/6 for Bonzo's drumming and Bagdeholders from 23/6 for just all around good playing are my favourites.
  4. Generally I think you had a shift in the band's focus live in the latter years away from long extended tracks and towards a greater variety of material. In previous years the acoustic set would have offered more of a shift if pace but in the late 70's it wouldn't exactly have been fashionable. As for the track itself I can't say D'yer Mak'er is one of my favourites but still I think its not nearly as bad as a heavy rock group playing reggae could have been. The Crunge has always been the more disappointing track for me because it had potential to be so much more had it retained its live rawness.
  5. Sadly Lucas took the lessons of "no try" and "unlearn what you have learned" when he directed the prequals.

Lived in the UK since she was 6 though so its more Strauss than Pieterson.
  7. Just listening to 27/3/75 right now and between NQ and TU Plant starts to ramble about "the jungle" before Bonham gets his attension back with a couple of snare hits and plant thanks him for it, simpley little moment but very funny. it is a shame so little has ever seen the light of day officially as Plant is one of the very few frontmen from that era with a genuine wit. Post Spinal Tap I spose everyone looked back on this kind of banter as a negative but really a lot of Plants is actually predating Tap in taking the piss out of his and the bands persona.
  8. Didn't think much of Star Trek into Darkness personally, even more so than Abrams first film it was IMHO little more than a typical Hollywood blockbuster full of 100 mph quick cut action and poorly setup attempts at drama. You compare that to Wrath of Khan which had a vastly deeper character study and much more suspenseful action and its pretty badly lacking
  9. Still possible the funniest video on the internet for me...
