  1. Thanks! I thought that was right. Today, Bonzo's Birthday LA Forum 1973! I've been listening to NS Bonzo's Birthday Matrix since '73 soundboards don't usually sound very good, but is a soundboard or audience recording sound any better than this? The artwork is pretty sexy for the 'Bonzo's Birthday Matrix' anyway..
  2. San Francisco 6/2/1973 - The Rain Song. A full soundboard would make a nice matrix of this show. Is this the show where the picture of Plant holding a dove was taken?
  3. Organ Solo > Thank You, Orlando 8/31/1971. Always a great treat.
  4. The 2015 Rock Madness Champion is... LED ZEPPELIN!!! Z107.9 FM here in Colorado
  5. Oh my gosh, how did I forget The Ocean! That really is the 1 song they should've played as an encore some shows after '73. That would have been the perfect encore on any night. The Wanton Song would've been a great one too. And Strider, that makes sence. I always wonder how the heck Jimmy would even be able to stand after holding and playing guitar for 3+ hours, well he would've definitely built a lot of strength after doing it as much as they performed, but still would get exhausting some nights.
  6. Well I'm glad to see some other people know how great it is! I think Jimmy was completely tired of Heartbreaker by then, but who knows they played it quite a few times after but they did not play it at the 02 show. I could see why he would get tired of it, it's an awesome song but that is one solo that can go in any direction. Communication Breakdown or something completely different (for 1975) such as Dancing Days would have been an amazing end for Canada.
  7. Vancouver 3/20/1975 Snowblind 40th anniversary! Last time Zeppelin performed in Canada. One of my top 3 shows! Out of all the different performances I've listened to, this show has my overall favorite Rain Song, Kashmir, (30 minute+) Dazed And Confused, and Stairway To Heaven. No Quarter may not be my favorite, it's definitely in my top 3. I have no idea how this show doesn't get more respect than it does, it seems like nobody has listened to it after the release 2-3 years back, and it's difficult to find on YouTube if it's even on there. Maybe Vancouver 3/19 and Seattle 3/21 over power it to many people, though this is the superior performance IMHO, though the other 2 are just as great in their own ways. I must say Jimmy left the show after Whole Lotta Love, think they got a lookalike to perform Heartbreaker...
  8. Texas 8/31/1969. (You Shook Me at the moment, but listening to the full hour). I just got this show about a month ago and have listened to the full set about 5 times! They were on fire that night, definitely had a fun time before returning home. Ohh how much fun it must've been for those people at the show! I've heard people say Page was 'over playing' that night.. Ehh the band kept up quite well IMO. A few years ago (before I was a HUGE Zeppelin fan) my dad and I were traveling through Texas and stopped for a drink at a small gas station outside of Dallas and there was a neat metal sign advertising Led Zeppelin Texas Pop Festival 1969... Damn!! How I wish I would have offered the store some money for it even before I was a huge Zeppelin fan I thought having a sign advertising one of their shows would be really cool.
  9. ^^^ those are some awesome pictures! The band and the audience were on fire that night! I still wonder where EV came up with the cover of Intimidator from.. Seems like they would have used one of these images, the last one would have made for an awesome cover in black/white.
  10. Montreux 3/7/1970 on this wonderful 45th anniversary!! Definitely one of the best shows! Wish it had been professionally recorded instead of Royal Albert Hall, but both are freaking killer! I have a question about this show. Was this the show where Page was wearing plaid pants? I'm sure he wore them more than once, but when you search images for Montreux 1970 he is wearing them, but on the cover of Intimidator he and Plant are wearing completely different clothes... Were the people in the audience (in the front) sitting on the floor? Seems like Zeppelin were way too aggressive on that show for anyone to just sit there. lol
  11. I literally can't stop listening to San Francisco 4/27/1969!! That's definitely one of the top 5, if not top 3! It's perfect. Anyway, does anyone know what tune they're jamming at the 16 minute mark?! "looking for a way out" "here we go round"... It's one of the best jams in a medley I've ever heard from Zep! And know if they played it again??
  12. C'mon! You know what I meant! lol They really did play great every night, but when they knew they were being recorded like TSRTS, they were perfect and didn't try anything too different from usual. If you do put your bootlegs away I'll send you my shipping address.. I'll even help you out with shipping fees... lol
  13. Everyone has covered this pretty well, but I'd be happy to share my opinion on this Jimmy Page's sloppiness is what made him into one of the greatest guitarists ever. If they played their songs exactly how they were written I would say he would've had few to none mistakes, but improvising different parts each night isn't going to have perfect results every night no matter who you are. The drugs during the later times really effected him with likely thinking of 10 different things during concerts causing him to just get lost, and also he already accomplished so many outstanding things so it's not like he was still trying to make a name for himself and Zeppelin, they were selling out everywhere without advertising much! Another thing to remember is Zeppelin didn't go out there looking like stiffs each night, they went out there drunk as can be, high as can be and had an awesome time with each other and the audiences, and remember 99% of live recordings were never meant for fans to listen to multiple times and notice their mistakes, but you can obviously tell in their official live recordings that when they needed to be 100% for fans to listen to multiple times on recordings they were 110%!! As for his studio playing, it's the same story. If he went in the studio and played everything perfectly then he would have only took 1 take, no matter who you are you will likely take multiple takes until you feel it's flawless, it takes time to warm up your fingers and get coordinated and also get in the groove! I've been playing guitar for about 10 years now and some days I play every song I know perfectly! Other days it sounds like I don't even know the songs.
  14. I've held off on throwing my thoughts out there since I could never decide between Orlando 8/31/71 Southampton 1/22/73 Long Beach 3/11/75 L.A. Forum 6/23/77 (a great performance from each era, I'm not familiar enough with 1980 Stairways to comment) But I came across two consecutive performances a while back (not for the first, but first well through multiple listens) of Vancouver 3/19/75-3/20/75 and was incredibly pleased by the both! I will say Vancouver 3/20/75 is the best IMHO. JPJ was phenomenal on 3/19/75, very creepy sound but I mean TSRTS, 6/23/77, and some others are very hard to beat, and the Studio version will always be perfect in its own ways, I love the long solos though.
  15. I assume this is the appropriate thread to add this, haven't looked at many posts yet.. Today I went inside a gas station where I live and immediately noticed Zeppelin was playing, I was thinking it was All My Love but then after a minute I realized they were playing Carouselambra. Now I go there a few times a week for the last 10 years and have noticed maybe 2 or 3 Zeppelin songs, but Carouselambra of all songs?!?! My life is now complete.
  16. That's The Way has a pretty good ending, Jonsey brings out the bass guitar for it. The HTWWW performance is great too (though Jonsey doesn't shine like on the studio) when the whole band stops then starts again and Plant sings "it ain't right". I've always loved the Whole Lotta Love outro as well, Plant sounds freaking amazing, and Bonzo just keeps smashing! HHWCID, HMMT and Ramble on are also great as well as No Quarter live 1977-1979 is one of my favorites. Almost forgot my favorite outro of all which is Thank You live especially Southampton '73 Page and Plant both sound phenomenal! Definitely my favorite outro of any song or performance.
  17. I heard somewhere on here that Jimmy boosted the volume of Plants vocals up and nobody could figure out why he would do that.. Well I know the answer after listening to the remastered album.. Plant sounds freaking amazing on this album!! The Rain Song, Dancing Days, and The Ocean.. He sounds completely fantastic! He didn't quite have his high voice like on I and II, but damn he sounded great. I don't think it would be possible for anyone to sound anywhere close to him on Dancing Days. I'm not sure what it is about that song but I've never liked it that much and now I can't get enough of it! I think every Zeppelin song sounds better live but this and Whole Lotta Love are the only two exceptions. No Quarter is pretty cool on the companion disc as well as The Rain Song, which in my opinion are the highlights. TSRTS is pretty awesome with no vocals.
  18. I used to be very into Knebworth which I still love then the 02 is so powerful! But I've been listening to MSG 2/12/75 and Long Beach ?/?/75 and in both the whole band sounded great! At the very end JPJ cranks that bass up like in the studio That's The Way. Off topic, he also did in Ten Years Gone Cleveland 77. Loved when Zep did this in songs! Everyone loves a great ending.
  19. Montreux 3/12/70 (correct me if that's not exact date lol) and BCC are my two favorites, the one from Southampton 73' is pretty good IMO it's just a very unique sound for the song followed directly by Communication Breakdown, what's great way to end a show!?
  20. Gallows Pole; Copenhagen 5/3/71. Just started getting into this song and thought it couldn't get better than the studio, but love this live recording. Does anybody know of any other recordings of this song that are decent quality??
  21. Southampton 73 is my overall favorite, just love the track list and the sound quality is great! I have yet to hear the full show, but Orlando 71 seems pretty damn amazing too, Plants voice was phenomenal in 71!
  22. Yes you are likely correct. I should've looked into it better sooner, but I got BCC Sessions soon after and kind of lost interest with this cd besides What Is And What Should Never Be is fantastic on this boot! It's exactly like the studio with much more energy. I wish this boot has Thank You from L.A. Forum instead of the same copy that is easy to find.
  23. After comparing with BCC I guess I was wrong about the two songs being the same, but they do sound identical but it says tracks Communication Breakdown, What Is And Should Never Be, Thank You, Going To California were recorded 3/25/1971 at Royal Albert Hall (which the concert for disc 2 of BCC was only one week later); I Can't Quit You Babe- February 1969 at RAH (no specific date); Whole Lotta Love- November 1969 at RAH (no specific date); and strangely Out On The Tiles and Moby Dick- 9/18/1970 L.A. Forum. And as far as who put it out, it's 'Live & Alive' 1993. And yeah I wouldn't expect $170 for it, but I probably wouldn't sell it at least until I come across more!
  24. A few years back I was looking through the USED Zep CDs at my local record shop (at the time all had was Zep II and a copy of Early-Later Days I borrowed from a friend) so I was picking through what I knew which wasn't much, but my favorite song was Thank You and I had recently discovered the song live at MSG 73'. I saw this weird looking live album titled 'Communication Breakdown' featuring: Communication Breakdown, I Can't Quit You Babe, Whole Lotta Love (Medley), What Is And What Should Never Be, Thank You, Going To California, Out On The Tiles, Moby Dick for $9 so I bought it and was blown away by all the songs! Until I purchased BCC Sessions and I Can't Quit You Babe is the same as the 2nd version on BCC, Thank You was the same as BCC, but the other songs are completely different so it's kind of like having an extended BCC Sessions which the songs were recorded within days of it! Overall I looked up the bootleg and found it online for $170!!!!!
  25. Any 73' version is best with so much enthusiasm, but 80' versions are pretty good too! They mixed a little bit of the solo from Tea For One in it. I haven't yet given Zeppelin 77' the proper respect it deserves, but I'm sure it was great then too.
