  1. I would go with this, plus, Tampa was rained out and high winds were present so even if they wanted to use video screens they likely would have taken them down prior to the show for safety reasons. Oakland... I have seen quite a lot of pics of both gigs and never saw any video screens.

My go to is Basil Hayden but the Four Roses Single Barrel is quickly becoming my favorite. One of these days I am going to have to try some Pappy Van Winkle, but spending $250 on their cheapest offering is a bit steep for my tastes. I ordered a Louis XIII cognac once because I just had to know what all the fuss was about and why anyone would pay $110 for a single ounce of anything. Talk about swill! Tasted like it was distilled in a hobo's shoe and filtered through his shorts. Nasty. Of course I was told such highbrow hootch is an "acquired" tasted. Piss on that, for $110 an ounce pour it better taste like rainbows and baby smiles, mixed with the ambrosia of the gods. Ps. Happy Birthday Sean, hope you enjoyed some of that Blanton's on your birthday my friend.
  3. ^ WTF??? No Nana Visitor? Now that was a saucy little minx if there ever was. Of course we cannot forget Marina Sirtis and Michelle Forbes.
  4. Yes, however you are forgetting studio time as well, an upcoming American tour which never happened, and then Robert jumping into a solo career within months of the end of Zeppelin. I don't know if you have ever been married Jonsey but typically, when a woman has had enough, she has HAD ENOUGH. Which means if she wanted Robert to live the more sedate life, she would likely demand NO touring, NO leaving the country without her etc. Women will only put up with so much before they call it a day. I don't care how rich or how good looking you are, most women will indeed leave yo ass at some point.
  5. Not necessarily. The loss of a child can be absolutely devastating on even the strongest of marriages. Even the most enlightened of us can fall victim to blame and resentment under such circumstance. She very well could have been Robert's savior, but then later became resentful. Anything is possible. My theory is that Maureen did in fact help Robert through this, especially as Robert pretty much stated at the time that Zep was all but over and he was through with the music biz. I figure the problems started when Robert decided to go back to Zep and especially tour again. Maureen was likely thinking enough is enough. Just a theory
  6. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee - this shit is addicting! Watched six episodes straight (they are only 15 min long on average). Favorite one so far: Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner. Jesus Christ Mel has more energy than a 17 year old. I wonder if they gave him a dose or something. Just brilliant!
  7. Right on Kip, I agree on this 100%. Just imagine a world where Hitler became the German equivalent of Bob Ross. There was an interesting movie on this subject with John Cusak called Max, you should check it out. It is truly amazing what impact environment has on a single human being and what they become.
  8. I don't believe this for a second as I can name 15 shows from the 77' tour, just off the top of my head, which were not just good but brilliant. If just one was multi-tracked it would have already been released.
  9. I believe it is a phase affect on the original 76' version as it is not on the 2007 version however the effect is not as pronounced as I remembered it and I cannot tell if it was added later or an effect used live. I would suggest checking out The Garden Tapes as they have every minute detail regarding these shows and recordings.
  10. Rain, rain...glorious rain! I know my UK brethren make think me mad but us desert dwellers who have not had a drop in four months are dancing in the streets. YIPPEE!!! Much needed downpours to moisten up our high country forests and low valley deserts in this horrible of fire seasons. Finally some relief. Thank you Mother Nature
  11. I believe that effect was done at the show itself, not after the fact so taking it out is actually detracting from the actual live experience. Like it or not if that is the case it should be left as is, just like the original solo. Jimmy simply changed way too much on NQ re-release 2007.
  12. Shit yeah, we lost a big Mesquite tree in the front yard of the house we are now renting in Glendale. Damn thing fell on the neighbors pick up truck and pretty much F'ed it up but good. Even though it is a rental I called a landscaper I know and his crew was out within 30 min, cut up and removed the tree so my neighbor would not have a massive tree on his truck. The wife came out and was very thankful, the husband, of which the truck belongs, never said a damn thing. He was actually pissed off at me because the tree fell on his stupid truck. Moron is too stupid and selfish to care that it was not me tree nor my house even though he knows we are renting. Oh well, the wife is nice at least. The Phoenix Metro area is stocked full of greedy idiots. The developers plant these damn Mesquite & Palo Verde trees because they are very fast growing, which is because they are not in fact trees but a very large desert bush. We trim them to look like trees which makes them very unstable in high winds plus their root system is very shallow as well. The combo is disastrous yet every city council signs off on the as-builds & plat submittals as they want that sweet tax income. To all my fellow desert dwellers...just say no to the dreaded Mesquite and Palo Verde and instead say yes to the beloved Ash, Texas Ebony, or Desert Willow.
  13. Yes, hell of a show. Do you remember all the people in the hotel adjacent to the amphitheater? Everyone was either out on the balconies or hanging out their windows. I was with my brother at the show and thought...why didn't we think of that?
  14. What I found somewhat peculiar as well is that we had both Robert & Jimmy performing that year within a few months of each other...just like in 85' which was also the last time both were in Phx on their respective tours at the time. Went to all four gigs and loved all of them, great shows.
  15. "I never heard of this Len Zeflin guy before but the guy ROCKS!!!" - random guy "The singer sounded like some wounded tortilla fucker" - Ted Nugent Some sweet, some sour
  16. It's not a crappy song, its a brilliant song which was poorly produced and arranged. A few minor tweaks and this song would have been considered one of their top 5 tunes.
  17. I dunno about that one as the method of her death was not exactly what a hit squad would try due to way too many possibilities. Causing a wreck in those tunnels did not guarantee death first of all and second, the hit squad could have just as easily killed themselves in the process. Side note: As much as I admired Diana for her good works she was also a very complicated person and no angel. Why would she associate, much less become engaged to Dodi El Fayed? The guy was s scumbag coke addict with very dubious business associations. The whole thing was just weird.
  18. I always believed it was some nutter who committed the crimes but being Whitechapel 1888 there are certainly plenty of potential suspects. However my best guess is there was no true Jack the Ripper. I believe three of the murders were committed by a local gang as a means to keep the local prostitutes in line and paying up. I believe Mary Kelly was not a Ripper victim as the crime was 100% different from the other so called Ripper murders. Let's face it, Whitechapel was the shithole of shitholes during a shithole time in general in London and the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion when one considers they found dead bodies every morning in that section of town, some murdered, some just dead from god knows what as the sewage was overflowing the streets, the air was virtually unbreathable, and crime was rampant. That is one place at one time you could not pay me enough to want to go back to.
  19. Yes ! If there is an issue whereby Jimmy HAS to keep the remastered release the exact same, fine, I can deal with the shitty, butchered 2007 NQ. However, Jimmy can still release the original 76' release NQ in a remastered source as a bonus. Why not do that?, In fact, why not release the album with two remastered versions, the original 76' and the 2007 of the album with all the bonus songs (SIBLY, MMH, The Ocean, BD, OTHAFA, etc.) as well. It would be, without a doubt, the definitive version and one to close the books on MSG 73'.
  20. Lucky me (sarcasm) we had Mission UK. Oh no, heaven forbid we got SRV or Joan Jett, that was just way too much to hope for. Instead the goddamned Mission UK. Good news is Phoenix heckled the singer off the stage, then the rest of the band went into about one minute of some improved punk tune beating the living shit out of their instruments. They finally sounded great and the crowd was loving it. Then they stopped, all left the stage except the drummer who left his kit, came to the foot of the stage, flipped everyone off and left. Brilliant!
  21. Only a complete madman...or Jimmy Page I guess. I used to play the shit outta TSRTS on my record player and car tape deck back in the day. Went through five LP's and countless tapes from 1978 - 1990 when I bought the CD. I remember seeing TSRTS movie for the first time in 1981 (I believe, not sure, I was 13) and I was completely stoked when Jones started playing those ominous minor keys to begin NQ. Oh man, this was my favorite live Zep tune and made the album version sound like lounge jazz by comparison. Then...WTF? There appears to sound like a cut or some other kind of tape fuck up as Jimmy was doing that sweet rhythm intro before the solo. It just went straight into the solo, and, parts were different as well. Damn was I pissed. Of course I found out later that the movie version and the soundtrack version were different but still, why did Jimmy do that on the original movie version? It sounded shitty. Then to add insult to injury instead of fixing the movie version to match the soundtrack, he did the opposite in 2007. You killed No Quarter...You Bastard (South Park reference, no offense meant).
  22. Hmm, Boones Farm or Annie Green Springs bong juice would likely improve the palate of those two. Your friend may have been on to something
  23. I really do not get why this is even going on. I would think the city council would be compelled by either shire, county, or country law in such matters unless no statue on historical buildings / sites is clear. If Jimmy's house is a Grade I, Heritage at Risk building, it seems common sense that all structures surrounding said structure (plus the structure itself) would be prohibited from certain types of renovation / excavation to prevent damage or change the original historical design and / or architecture. Why even designate something a Grade I building if there are no real regulations to protect it? Does this mean if some wealthy asshole decides to purchase a building next to Shakespeare's house in Stratford-upon-Avon they can do the same thing William's is doing and the only mechanism to potentially stop them would be a legal challenge by the current owner, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust?
