  1. It's such a life affirming piece. The concepts that exist in the story are perfect metaphors for issues that arise in human society again and again. Just a beautiful album.
  2. That was a great deal for those of us who wanted a souvenir to remember the show by. I bought the CD/DVD combo because it was for charity. The quality was very good.
  3. Well then your scope is extremely limited, because the amount of people who think the Who are the greatest group ever is a large one. This is a minority opinion on this board, but not overall.
  4. Acute anxiety did not really sound too damning when we first heard about it, but perhaps there is something worse going on now, possibly indicated by Jack calling future touring into question. I don't think any of us expected that.
  5. What you described was general anxiety disorder, acute anxiety is, well, an acute form of that.
  6. That tape was not her, just someone who looks like her.
  7. I think you're overstating what acute anxiety is. It's a mild form of what you describe.
  8. Well it's hard to get all the acclaim you deserve when you are preceded by Who Sell Out, Tommy, Live At Leeds, and Who's Next. I can see how Quad gets lost in there, but it really is a great album.
  9. Well with the way this thing is progressing having seen the White Stripes is like having seen Zep, a story to tell your kids.
  10. How did Roger sound. That show was after he fell ill.
  11. I'm just the same. I want to see the White Stripes almost as bad as I want to see Zep. Jack will continue with the Raconteurs, but still, it's just not the Stripes.
  12. This whole situation with Meg's gets stranger and stranger. I really can't see them not touring unless she actually has a more debilitating medical condition than acute anxiety. It would be a real shame, as they really are the best thing going right now.
  13. My favorite album is Bringing It All Back Home. I love the fact he left in the false start on "Bob Dylan's 115th Dream". I still haven't gotten use to how different he sounds on that album. It really doesn't sound like him.
  14. If you like that listen to Sparks live, it's fucking monumental.
  15. There's a reason why Jack's guitar is always very loud and thick, it's to make the songs operate as a two piece. A bass would just make them more conventional which is something Jack likes not to be.
  16. Meg does what is needed of her, if the drumming was more elaborate it would probably take away from the songs as they fit the style of her drumming. And why is there a need for a bassist? For the same reason more elaborate drumming would hurt the Stripes, so would a bassist.
  17. I may take you up on that offer... And why are they alternative instead of rock? Well as both categories are very open to interpretation, let's look at the other nominees in both categories: Their "rock" category focuses more on long time, radio worn artists (Daughtry and Wilco being exceptions in that they are not long existing and radio worn respectfully). Their "alternative" category includes mostly bands that appeal more to a cult fanbase (The White Stripes and The Shins are also exceptions, in that both have had their albums this year go to #2). Overall, it's hard to tell exactly what makes one rock and one alternative.
  18. Judging by your user name, I'm assuming we just think alike.

  19. I don't think so, I'd love to hear him spoof an Elvis song for it though.
  20. I have Brutal Artistry vol. 1. Could anyone direct me to volume 2 and 3?
  21. I'm very interested to see how Jack runs with this. For those of you who aren't too familiar with the Stripes, he definitely has a taste of country music, and I don't think this song will end up sounding like your typical White Stripes song.
