  1. The first things that come to my mind when thinking of '68 (aside from Zep's formation) are the RFK and MLK assassinations, the Tet offensive, the chaos at the Democratic convention, and Nixon's narrowly won election to the White House. (imagine if RFK had won?).
  2. Interesting. Did the pilots take any evasive maneuvers/unusual flights paths into those airports? Did you and the other passengers feel safe?
  3. I used to dream about rafting the length of the Mississippi as well. One important factor which dissuaded me from the idea was learning just how much commercial shipping takes place on the Mississippi these days.
  4. I just watched this documentary for the first time last week -- excellent.
  5. The Korean airlines shoot-down seemed particularly horrible. A plane taking off from NY and bound for Paris was also (perhaps) accidentally shot down by the US Navy back in the 90's. Other airline disasters have had "questionable" causes as well. It's all very sad.
  6. Enjoyed several glasses of the French dessert wine, Sauternes, as well as several glasses (Lol) of the Hungarian dessert wine Tokaji Aszui (5 puttonyos), one of the world's finest dessert wines, together with cut-up slices of orange, apple, peaches and cake. Today, I'm planning to enjoy the Sauternes and Tokaji with French bread and pastries and fine cheese
  7. You women here are terrible! LOL
  8. A guided tour is DEFINITELY the way to go. The guides will keep her safe. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to keep in touch and/or exchange contact info, etc.
  9. Actually, I'm not sure -- I haven't been there for awhile.
  10. I've spent considerable time in SA. I loved it -- great people and spectacular scenery. She'll need to be careful, though. I would suggest (if possible) that she travel in groups and stick to the Garden Route and Cape Town areas.
  11. Anyone here ever seen a movie called the "Devil's Rejects?" The material is very, very dark, but also subtly humorous and tongue in cheek.
  12. 23 Americans died, if I understand correctly I hope your daughter is traveling to a safer part of the world
  13. LOL. Such a question does seem like it would be a great diagnostic tool.
  14. Rightly or wrongly, I'm skeptical that Russia had anything to do with it.
  15. If you discussed the subject with moe people, Scarlet -- particularly with people connected to your psychology practice -- I'm sure you would find some haters.
  16. His original name was Wulf Grajonca, and he came to the U.S. as a child. Like many new immigrants, he felt the need to anglicize his name in order to better fit in.
  17. I like Fiona Apple. I'm listening to George Michael's "Fast Love."
  18. Thanks, ebk. I just googled the Walton's and discovered that both the fictional Walton's and real-life Hammer's lived in a rural part of central Virginia located about 70 miles west of Richmond. Both the real-life and fictional "John Boy" (apparently) graduated from the University of Richmond.
  19. I haven't seen the Walton's show since I was a lkid in the 70's. The show was based on a real-life family who lived in Virginia wasn't it?
  20. I'm planning to read Graham's book at some point. It's interesting that Graham believed Zep -- among other things -- had a "negative influence on society."
  21. These are great photos. I particularly love the corvette and horses on the beach.
  22. Awesome. I too am fascinated by Tudor history.
