  1. So is there any reason to own this release aside from the novelty of the clear vinyl? It seems that it's just a repressing of the JP remastered edition. It's a shame that Jimmy seemingly wouldn't allow Analogue Productions to give the album a true deluxe, audiophile 45-rpm treatment like the huge batch of Atlantic 75 releases coming out over the next year or so.
  2. Nothing but conjecture on my part, of course, but you have to wonder if Jack White had any influence on the creation of this project. He was the driving force behind American Epic and obviously a well-known Zeppelin fan. As you mentioned, American Epic was phenomenal itself and meticulously laid out the roots of the music that so strongly influenced Page and Plant. Just seeing American Epic might have been enough to get Plant on board with them giving Zeppelin the same treatment. It all sounds so intriguing. If only this doc was given the 4-part mini-series format of American Epic...
  3. I think that's why the shoes and snowboard were released. 😋
  4. https://www.journeys.com/product/vans-era-led-zeppelin-skate-shoe-black-497379?c=3100 Just in case you're still in need.
  5. Zeppelin is the only band that I hold in a high enough regard to ever consider buying a pair of shoes in their honor. On the other hand, that same pedestal makes me feel like it's a bit blasphemous to plaster their iconography onto a pair of shoes. Like I said, in the end, I'll probably quit overthinking the situation and just buy the damn shoes.
  6. It all comes full circle. Jimmy always was a visionary. 😏
  7. That's entirely possible. I haven't decided if they're kinda cool or just tacky. At the end of the day, I'll probably cave and buy some like I do with just about everything else.
  8. It's all sadly ironic in a way. The band chose the symbols to replace their actual name on the album packaging as a protest against the music business establishment. And now they're plastered all over shoes. For some reason, I'd kind of like to have the shoes but I can't imagine actually wearing them. Just about the same way I felt about the snowboard, I guess. In the end, I doubt that I'll be buying any of it.
  9. The sneakers are interesting but pretty cheesy at the same time. Are hardcore Led Zeppelin fans really the target audience for Hot Topic merch? Maybe but I have my doubts.
  10. The poster is cool as a collectible but it has been folded up for shipping. I guess it would depend on how badly you'd like to frame it and how handy you might be at pressing out the creases.
  11. Ok, this truly made me laugh out loud. I'm glad that I had swallowed my mouthful of coffee before reading it. Well played 😄
  12. Mine came with a couple posters. They're nice enough but the fact that they came all folded up does make them less likely to be displayed. More importantly, Reel Art Press got back with me and they're sending a new book. Fine service!
  13. Have people been receiving their pre-ordered LZ by LZ books? The book itself is great but mine arrived with an error in the gold embossing on the cover, like they ran out of gold before getting to the bottom. As annoying as an error of this sort is, I'm more annoyed that I have not received a response from Reel Art Press since I contacted them 3 days ago about it. Hopefully, for their sake, this was just an isolated incident and not a wide-scale problem.
  14. Sadly, my main motivation to buy this SDBS is simply that I bought all the other ones and it seems a shame not to complete the collection. I have TSRTS on vinyl. I have the movie on Bluray. I can stream the tracks in hi-res over Tidal. I've even made my own 12 x 12 print to mount with the others. At least, the Bluray audio disc would have been a nice addition. As it is, I kind of feel like I'd be spending all that money just to have the cool box to set on my shelf with the others.
  15. Except that they're also selling this. They just didn't bother to include it in the $200 super deluxe box set. Just the lower res DVD instead. Along with the DVD of the movie instead of the Bluray that has been around for years. Some of the reasons that TSRTS is the only SDBS that I'm still undecided about buying.
  16. The 5.1 audio is on DVD instead of the hi-res Bluray and even the movie itself in the box-set is on DVD instead of HD on Bluray. Pretty lame for a supposed Super Deluxe presentation, in my opinion.
  17. Another strange annoyance about the deluxe box set. I went to frame the numbered print for display along with the prints from all the other sets. For some reason, the BBC print is cut at 12.5" x 12.5" (actual album cover size) compared to 12" x 12" like all the other prints. I had a frame left over after mounting the other prints and obviously wanted to use that frame for the sake of convenience and uniformity. The BBC print will not fit in the frame without trimming the edges. Again, a minor complaint but a strange decision in compiling the box set.
  18. Minor gripe but I'm a little perplexed as to why they changed the design of the deluxe box set. The box itself is somewhat less attractive than the previous ones and they downgraded to a paperback book. Minor details, of course, but it doesn't make much sense to change the presentation after 9 releases.
  19. The BBC set is available on Tidal now, I just noticed. I'll probably check that out until my box arrives.
  20. I pre-ordered from Amazon. Then there's this... https://www.importcds.com/the-complete-bbc-sessions/081227943882
  21. Agreed. Many people have criticized the companion material, perhaps justified in some instances. I appreciate the opportunity to own all these tracks with such exemplary sound quality. Even if one only considers it to be "bonus" material...what a bonus. I would have been overjoyed with the remastered catalogue, brand new vinyl, hi-def downloads and all the other great visuals in the box sets. The companion discs are oh-so-sweet icing on the cake.
  22. "10 Ribs..." is a wonderful track. It certainly doesn't mesh with the rest of the Presence material. To me, it sounds like an early precursor to All My Love. Both keyboard-driven pieces unlike much else in the Zeppelin canon. Jimmy's guitar tone on the lead over the acoustic is similar too. Definitely, one of the most striking and important new tracks. Great find by Jimmy. Bizarre title though.
  23. DBTS has always been one of my favourite Zeppelin songs. I think that the new remastered hi-res version is one of the most improved sounding tracks in the reissues so far.
  24. The number is on the album cover print included in each Super Deluxe Box Set edition.
