How fortunate I am to share a birthday with such a sweet Leo. Happy belated birthday Zoe! We also share our birthday with Clara Bow and Geddy Lee.

Thank you! Happy belated birthday to you too! :D I had to look up those people you mentioned, they seem pretty cool! Definitely a step up from Joey Essex who we also share a birthday with (UK reality TV star <_<).

Hokey smokes! Is that for real? Aren't you the early bird hehehe. Thanks a ton, Sath! I'll drink one or two for you tonight.

Aww Strider we share the same birthday! :D I just turned 30! Fellow Leo like our man Robert, not that I actually believe in any of that, haha.

  3. I don't know much about snowboarding, I usually do cross-country skiing which is the most popular form of skiing in Finland. Maybe someone in this thread can answer your question: http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/18443-any-skiers-in-the-house/

The olympic champion is Sami Jauhojärvi and the world champion Aino-Kaisa Saarinen.

Hey marlam, I'll have a look at that thread, thanks for that, and I'll check out those people too :) I find it all super interesting. After failing so miserably the first time I tried (to be fair I was only a kid) it just seems so scary, but this just makes me want to try even more, haha!

I used to be a competitive downhill skier and skiing instructor for couple of years too (I dont snowboard at all) and I can honestly say... take up ANY kind of sport, it doesnt really matter if its snowboarding or skiing... just do whatever you find more atractive for you ;). Its not like one is easier or better or anything. Its a matter of ones taste.

Oh wow, that's impressive! But I guess you're right, to just go for what seems most appealing to you. When I think about it I'd probably try skiing, don't like being defeated!

  4. Basically it's a fair/exhibition where where different companies display and sell their products. There's also interviews of famous winter sports athletes, presentations etc. I was able to get an autograph from a Finnish cross-country skiing olympic champion and also met a world champion of the same sport. That was pretty cool :)

That sounds like a lot of fun! :) I'd definitely like to take up some kind of sport like that. I thought about snowboarding, although I'm sure I heard ages ago that it would be better to learn to ski first...then again I may just be making that up lol, is there any truth in it? What are the names of the people you met and got an autograph form?

  5. Zoe, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of maths are you studying? Personally, I began to "hit the wall" when I reached advanced calculus. I once had a roommate at university who loved advanced math -- I remember him studying Calculus III, Finite Math, etc.

I'm only at the end of my first year so have been doing a lot of pre-calculus stuff, I'm maybe a couple of weeks away from moving onto proper calculus. Hopefully I won't hit any walls! I've read Calculus for the Practical Man, which is the book Feynman learned it from. Obviously I didn't have all the foundations in place but I managed to work some of it out. So I'm hoping I'll manage it now that I'm taking the proper steps.

  6. Advanced math escapes my comprehension....it's too hard!! Lol. I've studied the history of science from pre-Ptolemy up through Stephen Hawking and beyond. I love the Copernicus/Kepler/Galileo/Brahe era, but I'm particularly fascinated by Issac Newton.

Advanced maths is just lots of beginner maths all added together! ;) I honestly believe that you can learn anything if you break it into small enough steps. That's why I have an annoying habit of believing I can do anything given enough effort lol. It's why I have so many hobbies and not enough time to do them, haha!

The era you mentioned is such a turning point in astronomy and science in general! Such wonderful minds! And then, of course, Newton was just phenomenal.

Physics lies at the heart of my interests and I love the application of it in the field of astronomy and also cosmology.

The colourised photograph below is one of my favourites, so many great minds in once place! I'm sure you will have seen it. It was taken at the Solvay Conference in 1927. Einstein, Dirac, Planck, Heisenberg, de Broglie, Curie, Schrödinger, Bohr, Pauli...astounding!

  7. These are so great that I want to reply to everyone...so I will, haha!

What a fantastic photograph Strider! :D Such warm and happy vibes, love it! I play guitar too :)

Hannah...I'm so envious! Look at that smile on Jimmy's face, it must of been wonderful meeting him :D And it's lovely to meet you too!

Marlam I'm guessing that SkiExpo is some sort of skiing convention? That's pretty cool, I tried to ski once when I was a teenager, it did not go well, haha! Would love to give it a go again though.

And lcondo123 thanks for posting those videos, I play drums a little so it's great to see that, you're really good!

So lovely so see everyone! Really nice to put faces to the names :)

  8. Hi Zoe. I have asked myself the same question & have a couple of theories.

One is that usually when we look at an older person, we only see age. We can't imagine the younger version or the whole lifetime of expereience there. With Jimmy we literally have a visual & professional record of his whole life so when we look at him now, we are seeing more in him than we do in others the same age. I think this is what older couples who are still in love see when they look adoringly at their partner.

And as for the attraction itself, I was drawn to him firstly thru his music but I became more interested in him when I discovered his other talents & interests - and then he became attractive to me. Most appealing to me, regardless of age, is his passion for whatever he is doing. In 'It might get loud., his is so obvious & I forget to look at the other two.I know he is far from perfect but it is also his complexity that is so fascinating.

Thank you for the response, I think this explains it perfectly...I've never thought about it that way before. Having this record of Jimmy's life must help us to connect his older self to his younger self.

I was drawn to the music first too and then aesthetically it was actually Robert who first caught my eye...but the more I learn about Jimmy the more I am drawn to him. And I totally agree with you...in 'It Might Get Loud' Jimmy's passion is so apparent that I barely notice the other two, it's so endearing. As a very passionate person myself I think I naturally seek that out in others. The sheer power of the music must help also, when you watch Jimmy playing guitar and making this astoundingly beautiful, powerful music that really resonates and makes you feel so good, you must connect those feelings to the person producing it.

  9. So I was just browsing pics of Jimmy and I came across this and thought that it was a great photo of him...love his smile  his eyes light up when he smiles...sigh. And I'm looking at it and I get to thinking...there's Jack White who's much closer to my age and is cool and talented and all, blah, blah, blah...and I'm just not into him, nor am I into The Edge. Then there's this 70 year old man (I know he's a bit younger in this pic but even in interviews from days ago) and I'm hopelessly attracted to him as if he was 25 years old! I just cannot see age with him. I don't get it. And I'm starting to realise that I'm as attracted to older Jimmy as younger Jimmy, there's just no denying it. I have never liked a man 42 years my senior before, not even close.

What is going on? What is it about Jimmy Page? Do any of you wonderful ladies understand where I'm coming from?

There really is something about him...and I can't quite put my finger on it.

  10. I agree with strider, you look lovely :)

I wish more young girls could see that dressing like you is so much more becoming than the half-naked trashy look.....

Thank you! :) And I agree, most of the time young girls don't realise that they can look beautiful but still be respected.

  11. Zoe, I read the above-mentioned book by Feynman years ago and very much enjoyed it. He was quite an interesting character. I should mention that I didn't love studying physics at university -- I hated it -- but I did enjoy studying the history of science, and Feynman was an important part of that history.

Yes, he really was :) Oh I absolutely adore physics, and all the maths that comes with it, the language of the universe! I'm a deeply curious person and am particularly drawn to cosmology. Always trying to seek the truth. I actually would like to brush up on the history of science, it's completely fascinating. Some wonderful minds have walked this planet!

  12. Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is stunning. And smart for that matter. This shot of her is just perfect.

Feeling a little awkward posting here since I've not seen many women posters about. When it comes to attraction I'm sure most women's first port of call here is the Jimmy Page or Robert Plant picture threads, for which I seriously can't blame them. Infact I shall be popping over there just after I post this ;) I have a very open mind when it comes to sexuality though.

I've been a fan of The Pierces for around 8 years, and met them the same year I got into them after one of their shows. Extremely nice women and simply stunning  I love their style, it's utterly sexy but retains a lot of class, which makes them even more sexy in my opinion, haha!

    Their legs...
