  1. Elvis has had a cult reputation here in the UK for years The remix of "A Little Less Conversation" credited as Elvis V JXL was number one for 4 weeks in 2002. it is mainly built around the Sun record period and some of the late 1960 tracks such as "Suspicous Minds". Srider is there any way the compilation LP's can be taken out as I think The Beatles and Zep would have even higher percentages. I am surprised at the Garth Brook figures.
  2. That Prince version was amazing. Shows what a great song WLL is I have heard so many great versions. If you are a certain vintage in the UK the Top of the Pops theme tune was WLL done by CCS.
  3. Thank you Reids for that clip really enjoyed it and noticed that they go into Black Dog at the end.
  4. Thank you for posting that Sam. Very much appreciated.
  5. My Bloody Valentine were a band I sort of missed as I was going through a really bad patch in my personal life. Listening now they sounded amazing interesting to note that they too had the dreaded writers block.
  6. Sorry just tried again It looks like they have taken in down
  7. Your welcome RainbowElf. Chill great to read your tales from Spike Island. You can hear the influence of Zep on Love Spreads (although it is the more psych end of their work rather than the rock) You do wonder if they had had the ability to just mature on their own terms just like many bands in the 1960's/1970's had the chance to where their careers would have gone but we will never know now. In an alternative universe Zep have done a cover of Love Spreads in my head.
  8. You saw the Spike Island gig wow jealous. I think they were one of the few bands of that era that could have gone stratospheric. Love Spreads is one of my all time favourite tracks. Hated the term Britpop, it killed that rock vibe that was developing many bands could not shake that term off and the Roses lack of trust in anybody (possibly even themselves) their inability after the first LP to really cope with the rapid increasing interest, the writers block and high expectations from fans and critics led to the implosion. Interesting to place them next to Led Zeppelin who somhow throughout all the chaos still released great records. SR are the only band I can think of where writers block did for them (they kept trying to get stuff recorded over the years and the latest output was patchy to say the least). Still we got 1 and 1/2 great lp's, some magical singles and some ledgendary gigs.
  9. Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm ||`FulL`MoViE-`HD Hope that helps Rainbowelf. The Stone Roses were an incredibley talented but deeply unstable band. Struggled with the writing/recording process, with each other and the labels. The story of the keyboard player of the Charletons was heartbreaking. Ozzy Robert and Dave from Hawkwind were amazing. The family who set the studio up seemed incredibly excentric but lovable.
  10. I loved it Robert wondering around the farm was cool. Aslo hearing the stories about Black Sabbath, Rush, Hawkwind, Queen, Iggy Pop and Bowie were amazing. Watch it if you can
  11. Welcome to the forum Ten Years Gone Fan.
  12. A lot of what he does is kept private. The cushion will actually save the taxpayer a lot of money as the article states it will save on ambulance call outs. There was the money he donated for the making of scrubs recently and over the years the money donated to the physical rehab centre, the hub for aspiring artists and musicians and he personally gave a 6 figure sum into the hole of debt that was Wolves (now a team in great shape and 6th in the Premier League) Hence why he is held in such high regard by their fans he probably gave them the extra time needed to save that club. Many other deeds will probably never see the light of day.
  13. Such a wonderful thing to do for his local community.
  14. Thank you for the clarifacation Gabrielle. Very much appreciated.
  15. Thank you I really enjoyed that. On a side note, when the band played live and Mr Jones had such a intertwined and complicated keyboard and bass line throughout a number which instrament did he end up playing live.
  16. Oh to have been at that gig.
  17. Interesting to read the charts. Elton John and the Moody Blues have massive LP's for many years Genesis and Bowie seem to less traction in the charts.
  18. Cannot find a list of how many weeks each LP spent in the UK LP top 40. Does anyone have this information.
  19. I cannot give you the exact date but during the 80's "Various Artist" LP's were removed from the official top 40 LP chart and given their own chart. I was surprised at how few weeks their LP's were at number 1. I also wonder if they had just done a lead in single (just the one per LP) would the extra airplay have helped them (I cannot recall them getting much daytime airplay until 15 years ago). Also not doing performances for Whistle Test was probably a right thing to do at the time but has affected them in both sales at the time and the ability to show people now what a truly genious band they were at their peak. Just my opinion though.

  21. The factual inacuracies regarding "All My Love" shocked me.
  22. Can I enquire what is the most rare/prized misprint. The equal of a Penny Black in stamp collecting for example.
